I was a patient of Dr. Volucci for many years. For the past couple of years I have found that after my office visits I would leave feeling very down. At first I felt she was very passionate about the care she gave for her patients. That all changed. I would get home and dread having to go back in for an appointment. I was recommended to have a colonoscopy because of my age. I never complained about anything. And she told me not to leave the facility until I was told what was wrong. I sure hoped nothing would be wrong. I am overweight and at my last appointment she told me that I was very superficial and only cared about my looks. I had gone in before my work day and was dressed for work. I could not believe what she had told me! This is the WORST "Dr". and Dr's office, ever. Do not even bother wasting your time and energy coming here. Maria Vollucci does not prescribe any refills on inhalers, for the past 20+ years. She confidently told me this herself. So instead of making sure their patients are healthy and protected from asthma attacks, they need to see you every 25 days to prescribe another inhaler when it runs out. Each of those (25) visits will be a $20 copay. That is about $300 in copay per year. Not to mention what your insurance will bill for the visit and medication. This sounds like a medical SCAM. What an absolute joke. Has anyone died from an asthma attack (or related issue) under her care because they could not receive medication (an inhaled steroid) soon enough? Someone or some agency should review her for malpractice. Maria should retire ASAP and her staff Fabiola should not be in the health care industry. 0 stars if it was possible. read more

A complete mess of a doctor. Like people don't have enough with the high cost of medications now we have to put up with her poor bedside manners and nasty attitude. Her silly comments are just rude. She needs to retire. I don't even want to see her anymore. She denies you even for an aspirin. She really sucks but only until I get a different doctor. Patients don't have to put up with her crap. English is not my first language. But i have no problem to communicate with DR. Vollucci. She is very strict but very kind also. She always tries to understand her patients situation. And she is very detail with her patients. She always spends approximately 25~30mins. with patients. I will never go back to Korean doctors who spends only few mins. and rush to leave the room. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR! AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAQUE!! If I could give this doctor negative stars, I would. Like 20 negative stars. Dr. Haas was my primary doctor for many, many years. I loved him but he retired and now I find myself procrastinating about going to the doctor because I don't know who to see. So this morning, I go in to see Dr. Vollucci and it was FAR from being a pleasant experience. She has a terrible and I mean terrible bed side manner. She spoke down to me and gave me the impression that she was very full of herself and I didn't appreciate the way she treated me to the point I demanded my co-pay back from the office. Again, I have been going to Torrance Family Practice for many years but I'm not sure I will ever go back. Not even to see another doctor. I'll take my chances else where. Dr. Vollucci has been my primary physician for years. I put-up with her poor bedside manner because I didn't mind her direct approach. However, she has recently gotten much worse which is why I'm going to see a new GP and why I am writing this review. I primarily saw Dr. Vollucci for depression and anxiety. At one time during a heightened anxiety episode she told me to drink a glass of wine to relax. You don't have to have a PhD in allied health (which I do) to realize the detrimental effects of prescribing alcohol to someone with depression. I first started seeing Dr. Vollucci when she had her own practice and then moved with her to a different physicians network and finally to her current network. It seems to me she has just simply become bitter and angry about her work which has significantly affected her decision making regarding her patients. As a Dr. who works with people to provide excellent quality service myself, I would recommend going somewhere else if you want a physician who really cares about not only your health, but you as an individual. read more

Doctor Vollucci is having a problem She was my doctor for years. Last time I went I was concerned about my osteoporosis. She asked how much calcium Was in my Almond milk. I said I don't know she replied I bet you know every ingredient in your expensive shampoo. Then I asked about a heart test my husband had and she said insurance would not pay for it. It was a few hundred dollars and she said if I stopped having manicures I could afford it. I am not going back to her and have told others about my experience. So unprofessional and really mean. I had a great experience. Been to this office many times but this was my first visit with Dr. Vollucci. Came for a referral to a specialist. She was nice and very helpful. Her staff was great. At the end of my visit I mentioned another problem I was having which was not what my initial appointment was for, she happily heard me out. I am highly disappointed in the care that I have been given by Dr. Vollucci. I do not believe that she even reads my chart before coming into the exam room as I have to repeat general information every time I am there; which shows that she does not care. There is a lot of miscommunication between her and the front desk as well. I continuously leave the office upset as I feel my concerns are never heard. I brought my 90 yr. old father in to see her today for a clearance check for eye surgery. She schooled my father on not taking care of himself properly , not exercising ( he can barely walk) not knowing the exact name of a medication he takes etc. Grant it , I should have written the medication down and handed it over at the appt. however I think she had the worst bedside manner I've ever experienced. My father never wants to see her again and neither do I. She needs a lesson on handling geriatrics's and what health issues are important to them at 90. Like vision for one ! read more

My elderly mother just moved from out of state to live with me and I took her to see Dr Vollucci on 5/4/18. Some of the reviews I read about her were not very favorable so I wasn't sure what to expect but I went in with an open mind. My mom and I were both very pleased with the doctor - she was incredibly thorough. She had her nurse do an EKG in the office due to my mom's heart issues & also had blood drawn there. I wouldn't call the doc warm & fuzzy but I'm not looking for that. I want a doctor who is thorough, professional & knows what they're doing and she is. My mom is on several medications & I was glad the doc only changed one at this point & said she didn't want to do too much until my mom sees several specialists. Big thumbs up from us. read more

Dr. Vollucci is direct and to the point in a caring way. Some people don't like directness in a doctor but I respect it. She listens and discusses my issue with me. Then before leaving gives me a handout concerning my issue. For example, I need to cut down on carbs. She gave me different examples of what I could eat for snacks and meals. She then gave me a carbohydrate handout for me to refer back to concerning what foods are how many carbs. She has done the same on other visits of different issues. She explain to me what could be causing this issue... reassured me that I will find a urologist that will figure what's going on with me... I have been Dr. Vollucci's patient for over 10 years. She knows my history, and I trusted her. There was a time in her career when she was a kind, caring practitioner. She would actually call her patients if they needed to ask her a question. Sad to say not any longer. A few weeks back I was in excruciating pain, and needed to talk with her briefly to ask her advice. I told the front office this. I get a message. From her front office. Go to the ER, or another practitioner! Seriously??? I understand a busy practice. What happened to patient care? I needed 5 minutes or less of her time. Dr. Vollucci treats my entire family, and knows me. She knew I was extremely upset and never took the time to call knowing how upset, and in pain I was. I am extremely disappointed in her patient care. The straw was this morning. I receive a message from her front office of course, that she refilled my medication, gee thanks! for 3 months. Dr. Vollucci can be a bit tough, but she's absolutely wonderful. The pharmacy lost my father's prescription and we were able to reach her while she was on vacation and she called in the prescription for us. I followed her over to her new office and the nurses are gems! She's been very understanding with arranging hospice for my mother as well. read more

Dr. Maria Vollucci had been my primary care physician for over 8+ years. I have had her for such a long time, I can not think of how far back we go. Sadly, I am now searching and researching for n new physicians to help me take care of my well being. A few weeks ago, I had submitted a medical claim through my Medical Reimbursment Account (Basic Flex - offered through my employer) and it was denied. I had claimed Benadryl and Claritin. I got the Benadryl because I had been suffering from red icthy water eyes and was sneezing up a storm. I got the Claritin to keep in my medicine cupboard to try in case the Benadrly didn't work. So when I called Basic Flex to find out why my claim was denied, they told me that these types of mediations now require a note from my doctor explaining the medical necessity that states: diagnoisis/condition, prescribed treatment/item, and date the treatment began. I told the rep it was a ridiculous to ask for a doctors note, I might as well have gone to the doctor in the first place!! But, OK, I though to myself, policy is policy, right?! I called my doctor and spoke to the front desk clerk, she had me fax everything over so that my doc could look everything over and see what had to be done. About 15 minutes later I get a call back from my doctors office and they tell me will charge $36 for the letter I need. I proceeded to explain to the clerk that it seemed very unfair to charge for a letter, I understand that its the doctors time and all, and I am sure am not the only patient she has that has a Medical Reimbursment Acct asking for a letter, but really? $36 bucks?! So she puts me on hold for a moment and when she comes back on the line, she tells me, "the doctor said she can bring it down to $16 and if thats not acceptable, then you can find another doctor". Mind you, the total for my claim was $16.44. I was silent for a moment and then I just said, OK, I'll find another doctor. I was loss for words. Then I asked, what do I need to do to get my medical records released? Turns out, my new doctor (when I find one) can request them from my old doc, at no charge. But if I want them released to myself, I have to pay $36. So there you have it, customer service at its best! read more

I think I probably had the worst experience with a doctor I've ever had. Instead of getting into my medical specifics, Dr. Vollucci talked at me instead of listening to me, ignored my concerns, spent the entire time looking at her computer, and at the end of the exam walked out of the room without asking me if I had any questions or other concerns to address which I did. I saw Dr. Vollucci for the first time today and she was wonderful. She took more time with me than any Physician I can remember. Asked really important questions and even more importantly listened to everything I said. She asked about any concerns I might have. I am 90 years old and have more than enough health problems but Dr. Vollucci addressed each of them. She then gave me a summary of the visit. I have been going to Dr. Vollucci for over 10 years & have never had a problem. She gives you her full attention, listens to what you are saying, is very pleasant, polite & thorough. I rarely have to wait long to make an appointment to see her or after I arrive for my appointment. Her staff always greets me with s smile & are polite. It is true, she uses her laptop to enter info or lookup past results, but she is listening to what you are staying. Sometimes people feel that doctors aren't paying enough attention when they are using the computer to enter your info. I don't find this to be a problem with Dr. Vollucci as she asks a lot of questions to get the info needed & addresses all my concerns. If needed, she has no problem referring me to the right specialists. I don't find her rude or full of herself, as one reviewer wrote, but just the opposite. Dr. Vollucci even sent me a note after my husband passed away. Two years ago I had a serious injury & on my behalf she wrote the neurologist asking if he could see me sooner then the 6 week wait & my appointment got moved up a month. She takes a lot of time & doesn't rush me & if I email her her any questions I get a quick response. She is direct, to the point & has a no excuse attitude, which means there is no excuse for gaining weight, I would recommend Dr. Vollucci to anyone. read more
