I tried to buy a car. They wrote the sales agreement up with the terms that I would be financing 100% of the car but I was paying cash. They refused to make the correction even though I had told 2 reps that I was paying cash. They simply wanted to make more off of me with the financing. While I was waiting for the corrected contract they sold the car to someone else then had problems getting someone to take my call. Apparently I was unreasonable for wanting the contract to be accurate. Oddly they also insisted that I sign a Power of Attorney for the transaction, this is their standard practice. I was not using a POA so said I was going to skip signing that form. Experience with Sarasota Subaru was surreal, I never expected such unethical and unprofessional behavior. They lie. Bill K was my sales rep, avoid him! Never sign a contract with terms you didn't agree to. They are playing sick games on people, pathetic. read more

Very poor business practice. I had an appointment to close a deal on a used Mazda Miata, my salesman, a very nice man and a credit to the company, had called me and set me up for his first appointment of the day, as we were waiting for a repair to the air conditioner to complete the deal. It seems the sales manager authorized a sale of the car to a walk in customer minutes before I arrived for my 1:00 APPOINTMENT. So now I am an unhappy customer who acted in good faith and my salesman lost his commission on a deal he spent considerable time setting up. Not the way to build good will to a bona fide buyer. read more

I had a scheduled appointment for an oil change. 55 minutes later I was trying to be convinced into a 30000 mile maintenance new wipers and tire rotation. Tires are brand new 5000 miles on them. Any "mechanic" should be able to see this. Of course I declined and asked for my car. 2020 Outback with less than 50000 miles on it. Wife and I had our 2019 Ascent in there about a year or so ago. Great experience. I noticed that everyone we dealt with on the Ascent was no longer working there. All new employees. I'll go to my original dealer from now on. Live and learn Wow now I'm getting emails of certain doom of my car if I don't take care of wipers and air filters. Title of email "Robert, your Outback needs service immediately!" Well if you are looking for a dealer who actually wants your business and is willing to work with you without having to play games then this is the place. I first dealt with Andrew Holzapfel as well as the general sales manager Marcus Molano who are both two solid human beings. I gota say first it was truly a pleasure dealing with Andrew. He truly knows his cars and is an overall great person to deal with. No pressure and tells you what you need and provides options. and we had some great convo period about life. Same goes for Marcus. Zero pushiness which people don't want to deal with. These guys know that Subaru buyers are truly a niche audience of buyers and that when we are interested, we will buy when it makes sense and feels right. Last year I called to set up service and the person answering the phone was super rude so I called the Bradenton Subaru. Much nicer. Fast forward to yesterday. I called and talk to a service manager who said I could walk in for an oil change or scheduling would be better. He was very friendly and did not seem to be in a rush. I called back today to schedule for tomorrow. The person answering the phone today (Office manager or receptionist) sounded in a rush and said she had nothing available until April 20. When I mentioned the service manager told me yesterday that it would be fine to walk in or scheduling would be better she said she had no idea why he would say that. This specific dealership needs to get there ish together! I will continue to drive the hour to Bradenton for better service!! I hope the dealership reads these comments. I scheduled a simple oil change days in advance. It went in 10 minutes before the appointment time and 10 hours later I received no messages with the exception of the call me if you have any questions. I found the manager's name and information and after I emailed, I was contacted by the manager. I was taken care of and picked up the vehicle the next morning. The manager assured me that the issue was an aberration and the issue was rectified. I might be attempting to use this dealership again in the near future thanks to his help and intervention. read more

I had a 11:30 appointment today, but I had not received any confirmation email, so I called them to confirm, and I spoke to a woman, Amanda at service. She said I was not on the schedule. I told her that I spoke with Mark who set up my appointment. She said he was with a customer but would have him call me. An hour passed, and nobody called, so I called back, and spoke to a different woman. I asked for either Amanda or Mark, and she said there's no Amanda nor Mark working there -- WTH!? This woman was quite rude, so I asked for the manager. He said his name was Corey. I also asked for her name, then -- she hang up on me! This experience really crept me out, and I felt like I was in the Twilight Light Zone! I found another dealer in Bradenton. I took my car there, and had a very pleasant experience. read more

I inquired about a used vehicle online through their website. After talking with 3 different people over the span of 3 days, I received a call back from a salesman's. He advised me that there was a leak in power steering line and I would have to pay $2000 EXTRA above the listed price to fix it before I were to even purchase the vehicle. There was nothing online stating this vehicle had any kind of problems let alone a price increase for a problem that had nothing to do with me. My boyfriend called the dealership to speak with management who told him they have already put a bunch of money into this vehicle. ALSO, nothing on the website about vehicle having any issues that they would have to put money into. Very misleading and very unprofessional. Wouldn't trust these people with used vehicles nor ever do business with them. BEWARE. read more

So far so good. I took my 83 year ild dad's 2012 Subaru Tribeca that he can not longer drive for service. Due to his age, he cannot drive anymore. But the car is in a good condition. But I had no idea about the service history. The people at the service department was very nice and walked me through their findings. Luckily there was not much issues at all. I went to them 2 years ago to have something trivial done to my Forester. I don't even remember what it was. Within a month I received a mailing from them stating that my car was over due for service. Since then I have received 1 or 2 mailings from them every week! Earlier this year I called and asked to be removed from their mailing list. I was assured that would happen. 6 months later nothing had changed. 2 months ago I sent a request to be removed from their mailing list via the contact portal on their website and told them my previous experience and said if the mailings didn't stop I would start sharing my experience online. Well, two months have passed. I am still receiving mailings every week. And, I am sharing my experience. I don't like companies that smile to my face then repeatedly ignore and disrespect me from afar. read more

He was also friendly and customer serviced oriented and has been with the company for 21 years which is saying something nowadays! The whole team in service has always been polite and helpful. This place is a nightmare. I bought a car there last week, paid cash. Had to see the F & I person who is a world class jerk. He had the paperwork ready, along with an error of a $1,000 overcharge (wasn't his fault of course). They told me that it was the law that they charge a dealer-mark-up and they are audited to make sure they do that, or they have to pay a fne. They told me that I had to havethem register the car for an additional $250 fee and that I coudn't go to the DMV and do it myself, furthermore, if thye didn't do it, it would be illegal for me to drive the car off the lt. The vehichle was mis-represented, no one that took even a minute to explain the vehicle after I gave them a check. I had never bought a car in Florida, so they got by with their misrepresentations, it won't happen again with Sunset Subaru because I will never go there again, and now I know that all the things they told me wren't true.There is something creepy about the place and the way the people act, I will never go there again for any reason. read more

The Subaru battery installed at the end of 2020 had died, and after jump starting, it was taken to Sarasota Subaru and it was charged and I was told it was good. After three more times of being dead and jump started, I called and asked for an emergency appointment to fix or change the battery. I was told the next appointment was in 2 weeks. I complained and they said they would have a service manager call back to see if I could be fitted in. I waited the rest of the afternoon and the next morning without a call back. I decided to call AAA and they came out in 30 minutes and tested my battery and put a new one in because it was dead. I wrote a negative E-mail to the dealer and the service manager called and sad they were busy but could fit me in. I told him I was through with Sarasota Subaru after being a Subaru customer for 50 years. read more

Sunset Service test drove my vehicle and got rear ended. My car had to be in the body shop for over a month. They installed the wrong mudflap on the right rear quarter and tried to tell me that it was the only one they can get, it did not even match the original or the left side. I had to take the car back up there and have them correct the problem after finding the correct mudflap and contacting an attorney. The paint does not match on the bumper, and their excuse is all bumpers don't match the car even when brand-new. This car is only a year and a half old and garaged. They keep feeding me with excuses, excuses, excuses. Save your self issues and problems and do not support this dealership or Chevy Sunset in Sarasota Body Shop. They are a joke. read more

The salesmen are nice, but beware...they do not give you the credits/discounts they promise you upfront. (I paid my registration on my trade-in last month and was told by the salesperson the registration would be credited accordingly. Not.). No perks and not even a full gas tank. I had bought a 2011 Outback here and it was the best car I owned, well a 1999 Plymouth Voyager with 186,000 miles on that I gave to my nephew was maybe the best and yes, it is still running. Anyway, not only was the buying experience here exceptional but the service department deserves accolades. I never had a problem with the car but when it needed service the two service agents always made sure my appointments were scheduled and my wait times were acceptable. I hated having to give that car up but medical issues were responsible. The car handled well in some of those monsoon like rains we get in FL; and when I was up north, it was sure footed (tired) on the snow covered roads. Can't beat an Outback and this dealership is excellent. I've dealt with two other Sunset dealerships--Audi and Cadillac--but this place is the best of the three. read more
