Went in to jay and deans auto repair for a tire repair because my tire was flat. They fixed it up nicely and repaired my tires. I additionally needed a tire rotation and some other things done to my vehicle and they gave me a quote that was absolutely ridiculous. I shopped around and got much better quotes from several auto repair shops. My quote was a few thousand dollars and I got my repairs done at Firestone for a few HUNDRED dollars. Really nice people and service but don't be fooled these people use that to scam you. Definitely shop around before giving this place your money. read more

****Edit 3/27/26: When I went back the next day (today) to have them fix the tire pressure sensor and the tire rotation pattern, I dealt with Mark. He was a lot more competent and decisive, so must ne the manager. He said "It will be fixed" and went out himself with the tech to make sure it got done right. I appreciate that, and bumped them from 2 to 3 stars. Since this whole ordeal cost me 3.5 hours and 2 separate appointments, I can't give more than that. But they DID make it right finally. **** I have a follow-up appointment tomorrow at 12 and will update this based on that experience, but as of now I am not impressed at all. Here's my experience so far... On 2/18/26 I went to Jay and Dean's to fix a tire. My right front tire had dropped to 20 PSI from a screw. Scott at the front desk was great--professional, handled everything smoothly, and I was in and out. As I pulled out, I immediately got a "Tire Pressure Sensor Failure" alert. Awesome. I cleared it and called Scott to let him know the tech likely damaged or disconnected the sensor while fixing the flat. He said no problem, bring it back and they'd take care of it. I was leaving for vacation the next day, so I told him it would be a couple of weeks--he said that was fine and noted my account. When I got back, I scheduled an oil change and the sensor fix via text with Megan. Because of the sensor issue, she said it would take about 2 hours, so I booked earlier than I wanted to make sure they had time to handle everything. I showed up at 3:05 for a 3:00 appointment and told Josiah I also wanted a tire rotation (with the $29 upcharge) and reminded him about the sensor. He said no problem. Then they let my truck sit there for almost 40 minutes before even taking it back. First red flag. At 4:28 the truck was pulled around. At 4:50 Josiah finally finishes with the disgruntled customer who was being charged over $1k more than his estimated "worst case scenario" quote for his KIA engine rebuild (yeah, its a very small waiting room and after over hearing all that, I was getting worried that I made the wrong choice for my oil change) he checked me out. He hadn't spoken to the tech or even read the service notes, but confidently told me everything was done and fixed. Ok... I always mark my tires because I've had places charge for rotations they didn't actually do. Sure enough, the tires were not rotated correctly. On a 4WD truck, fronts should go diagonally to the rear and the rears move straight up. Instead, they just swapped them incorrectly on the same side. That's basic. Then I start the truck... and guess what? Same "Tire Sensor Failure" warning, plus the check engine light still on. So the tech didn't even look at it. I bring it back to Josiah. He grabs a scanner and checks each sensor. While he's doing that, I ask how they rotated the tires--front to back or diagonal. He's not sure but assures me the tech "looked it up and did it by the book." Nope. I explain I marked the tires, and the placement proves it was done wrong. Then the scanner says the sensor is "bad" and I'll need to make ANOTHER appointment to fix it. At this point I explain the obvious--I booked this appointment early specifically so everything could be handled at once. And more importantly, the sensor was working fine before they touched the tire. That's literally how I knew it was low. It failed after they worked on it. He apologized, said they were "not very efficient" that day, and told me to come back again so they can fix both the sensor issue and the incorrect tire rotation. Look--I don't write a lot of reviews. But people trust mechanics to do things the right way, and it's not cheap. When a shop makes this many mistakes (or just cuts corners) on basic services like an oil change, tire rotation, and fixing a sensor they likely damaged themselves, that's a problem. I'm trying to give a small business like mine a fair shot, but this is a rough start. I'll give them a chance to make it right tomorrow. If they fix the sensor, correct the rotation, and don't try to charge me again, I'll update this review positively. If not, this stays--and it's a 1-star. read more

Traveling back home, driver side window would not go up, new window motor was needed. The were able to take my car in and get it repaired that same day. Just when you think giving up on humanity, you find a place like Jay and Dean's Auto. 4:30 PM on Friday. I'm pulling out of work and I hear scraping sound. I look and the front engine pan has fallen part way down. I push it up so I can drive and quickly look for a close by mechanic on yelp and that's where I found Jay and Dean's. I asked if I could come by even though I knew they were closing soon and I wouldn't be there for 10 minutes and the lady who answered said of course. Very nice very kind. I got there and there were several cars around and Michael, the mechanic who looked like he just stepped off the pages of GQ magazine but with mechanics clothing, came out and I explained to him what happened He said give me a minute. I asked him if I should leave the keys in the car or where should I go and he said "crank it up, get in and turn on the AC it's hot outside." He came back a few minutes later looked underneath and went back into the garage. Came back with some tools and within eight minutes had it all done! I thanked him and asked where should I go to pay and he said don't worry about it! Who does that? I gave him $20 with my gratitude. I really appreciate Michael's ability to jump in and just get it done on the spot. Awesome guy and an awesome place. Growing up in a small town we used to have a mechanic you would implicitly trust. 50 years of living in big cities, makes you forget What it's like to have really good service. We just had the alternator on our trusty 2000 Camry suddenly die right at Bee Ridge and Beneva. So of course we had it towed here, no question. In just two days it was fixed for just under $500 and after paying since I didn't see Jay or Dean anywhere I asked if they were on vacation. The nice young gentleman seated at their desk informed us they had retired and sold him the business in April and each stayed on a couple of months then left. The new owner had his own repair business in Virginia. I am bringing in my 2008 RX for a check up next week. The repair staff were great friendly and attentive. I don't know if they are all the original staff. But diagnosed the alternator with a diagnostics machine plugged into the engine. Will keep my fingers crossed. I do know Jay and Dean worked SUPER hard to build their amazing universal reputation/ good name and wd be most careful about who would take their place/ maintain their quality of service ! read more

Jay and Deans auto repair is now known as Brian's auto repair. I had never been there before. I found the folks who work there as professional and very fair. I talked with Brian after he spoke with me about my check engine light being on. He looked my car up using the VIN and told me I had a warranty on the catalytic converter and advised me to take it back to dealer as it wouldn't cost me anything to have the issue Resolved by dealer I really appreciated his honesty and being a stand up man. I took my car to this shop for a couple of minor things and one major thing. There was a clicking sound when you opened the driver's door coming from the dash. BMW look at the car and in writing they said that the car needs actuator. This controls the direction of the air. I drove the car there on a very hot sunny day and the AC was ice cold. The only thing the AC air was not coming out of the vents, but it was coming out of the top of the dash. Even so the cabin of the car was plenty cool no issues with the AC temperature. Jay and Dean's auto shop replaced five actuators. Now I have warm air coming out of the vents when the AC is on. They replaced several HVAC parts at my expense and the car is still not fixed. This went on for several weeks back and forth to the shop giving them ample time to fix this problem and it is still not fixed. I have contacted the BBB, consumers affairs and have consulted with an attorney and contacted my Visa card co. The manager has deceived me. They also broke the cover that goes around the steering column, striped a bolt on the engine cover and another cover in the engine compartment that covers another part is missing, and a plastic airbag indicator on the passenger side is missing. The manager said in her report that she is unsure whether the broken steering wheel column cover was broken when the car came in. Contrary to what she said I found the broken piece on the floor of the car. My bill was $7384.00. a portion of this went to fix several minor problems. In essence the HVAC problem charges come out to be over $5000.00. They also charged me $972 for a trans pan gasket. This was never an issue, and I was never contacted to authorize this repair. BMW dealer went over the car prior to taking my car to this shp and never said I had a trans leak. I have Documation from BMW to prove this. I am 78 years old just getting over three cancer surgeries. I make $30,000 per year pension and SS. This cost is four months of my income. Don't take your car there. The manager comes off sweet and kind, but she is a shark and very deceitful. I have no one that will help me. read more

Had a PPI done before buying an expensive convertible. Mechanic was very thorough checking the basics, tires , brakes, fluid levels, lights, engine, and mechanics of the car. They found items that I hadn't noticed when initially inspecting and test drive. Tires had lots of tread but were beginning to dry rot. Also there was a minor oil leak that they couldn't determine the source. There was some play in a wheel which they suspected was a wheel bearing. The $170 fee to inspect this vehicle saved me thousands. read more

I have been going to Jay and Dean's for almost two decades. They serviced my Toyota Supra, Infiniti G, Lexus ES, and now my Lexus RC 350 F-Sport AWD. They are not only great at completing the needed services and repairs... THEY ARE TRUSTWORTHY & HONEST. They will also work to find the least expensive way to fix things and give YOU the choice. Many times, I brought my vehicle in stating that I felt a large, expensive fix was needed, only to be informed the problem I suspected didn't exist, or I had another 15K or so miles before I should even consider replacing that part. Took my car in for brake service. Brought it home and had immediate problem with noise. They replaced the pads. Had more problems a couple of months later. Told me that it was in the rear brake and that they hadn't worked on those - repairs would cost another $275. Took it somewhere else, they told me that the rear brakes HAD been serviced but pads were not installed correctly. Charged me $100, including replacing the brake fluid (9 years old) which J & D hadn't done. read more

Jay found the problem which was a partially detached wheel well panel. Secured it at no charge. Problem solved. Major service done properly at 25,000 miles at less cost and less time than Buick.
