At one visit, my cleaning was performed by the dentist herself and was very painful. Without any warning or numbing, she began drilling into my teeth during what was supposed to be a routine cleaning. When I stopped her to ask what she was doing and told her I was in pain, she stated she "needed to do a deep cleaning of the old fillings" which had never been discussed beforehand. During another visit while I was 7 months pregnant, I declined X-rays due to being pregnant. Both the dentist and hygienist responded in a hostile and unprofessional manner, raising their voices and questioning my decision, stating they "couldn't even do a cleaning without X-rays because it's like going in blind." I was ultimately pressured into signing a waiver. At my current dental office, I was informed that deferring routine X-rays during pregnancy (unless there is a specific concern) is standard practice. I was also fitted for a mouth guard for TMJ at this office. The guard I received was poorly made, missing contact with approximately a quarter of my back teeth. It was sharp and uncomfortable. When I raised concerns, I was told this was intentional because "those teeth must not touch," without any further explanation or adjustment. I later presented with severe molar pain and lingering sensitivity to cold. Despite significant pain (requiring around the clock ibuprofen and acetaminophen and preventing me from eating) the dentist took a single X-ray, did not perform a thorough assessment and dismissed my symptoms, advising only to use Sensodyne toothpaste. I sought a second opinion from an endodontist, who performed appropriate diagnostic testing (including cold testing and percussion) and diagnosed an obvious need for a root canal. After completing the root canal, I was instructed to return to this office for a crown placement. Despite my repeated communication that my insurance (Medicaid) would not cover a crown and my willingness to pay out of pocket, the office delayed treatment for approximately two months while repeatedly attempting prior authorization. During this time, I emphasized that timely crown placement (ideally within a couple of weeks) is important to prevent fracture. When I finally received the crown procedure, I was given no local anesthesia. When I questioned this, the dentist responded dismissively, stating that numbing was unnecessary after a root canal. The procedure was extremely painful. The temporary crown placed was bulky and uncomfortable, and I was told no adjustments could be made. The permanent crown was not placed until roughly two months after the root canal, and the tooth ultimately fractured and had to be extracted. Since switching to a new dentist, I required another crown following a root canal. This provider used appropriate local anesthesia and confirmed that numbing during post root canal crown preparation is standard of care. He expressed concern upon hearing about my prior experience. Additionally, I recently received a bill for a procedure completed years ago that I had already paid in full and have documentation for. When I called to dispute the charge, I was told it represented an insurance balance; however, I had not used insurance for that procedure. Overall, I found the dentist to be unprofessional, dismissive, and at times hostile toward both patients and staff. Based on my experiences, I would recommend staying far away from this office. One of the most horrendous experiences I've ever had at a dentist's office. The staff is very rude, first and foremost. When I first sat in the chair (after a 25 minute delay), the assistant said to me, 'What exactly are you having done today?" Great way to start! I said to her 'YOU don't know?', to which she replied 'No, I'm not with doctor today', whatever the hell that meant. So I said I'm here for extractions of my canine teeth, which I had been advised prior to the appointment. Finally the doctor comes breezing in, utters a muffled 'hello' and then tells me to 'open..'. She then without warning sticks me with FOUR shots of novocaine, two on top and two on bottom, not saying what the procedure is going to be, no topical before the novocaine, nothing. Apparently I had four broken teeth and they were all coming out today. So then the assistant gives me the paperwork to sign authorizing the procedure, and I said 'WAIT just a minute. What exactly are you doing, which teeth are coming out??' She utters four numbers..2,6,10, or some such thing, which is apparently code for certain teeth. I said 'Look, that means absolutely NOTHING to me. Please have the dentist come back in and explain'. She knd of huffed and went and got the dr., who smarmly says 'I was going to explain which teeth I was taking out, but didn't get a chance to yet'. After about 10 minutes of waiting, the doctor comes in and AGAIN sticks me with three more shots of novocaine! The teeth were removed quickly and they stuffed a few gobs of gauze in my mouth, read off some haphazard post op instructions and said ok, you're all set. I felt like I was on the set of 'Inglorious Bastards'. Needless to say, I will not be returning, and from the other reviews on here, I'm shocked that this office is still performing any kind of dental work. Go to get my fillings they started drilling with no notice, no numbing shot nothing. Gives me numbing shot half way through just on the top and started drilling immediately. There was no dental assistant so the receptionist was the assistant with no prior knowledge as the dentist was yelling at her the entire time about using the wrong instruments. Was only supposed to get 3 on top per the dentist at last visit about a month prior. She starts drilling more teeth on the bottom without any prior discussion and again no numbing agent on the bottom. Needed to itch my nose dentist said "you don't need to worry about itching ur nose you need to brush your teeth " very unprofessional. Will not be returning. read more

I came here for dental work as it is one of the few places that accepts my insurance. I highly regret it, as since I've had my fillings done, I have been in immense pain. I can't eat, drink, sleep well. I wake up every morning in pain that leads to a headache. When I went in for my first cleaning, I didn't even know who the doctor was. She didn't introduce herself, and was blunt, and brief before excusing herself from the room. I can appreciate an "all business" kind of doctor, however, she was just rude. My hygienist that performed my cleaning was great, and that's the only reason I'm giving one star. When I went in for my fillings, I was sat in the chair and left for 10-15 minutes. The Dentist came in, said open, and poked me with the novacane with no warning. Every other time I've had dental work done, they numb the injection site with a gel prior to the novacane. She numbed the roof of my mouth, which I've since been told is only to be done for root canals & extractions, leaving me numb for 7 hours. Throughout the procedure, she was rough, yanking my mouth around. I expressed having anxiety about it & she all but told me to suck it up. Once we were finished, she just left, leaving me to have to ask my questions I had to the assistant. As soon as the numbness wore off, I was in so much pain. Thinking it would wear off, I just dealt with it. Here we are two weeks later, no better. I went to a different office to get a second opinion & he essentially told me that too much was done at once, and that the length procedure lead me to have severe TMJ pain and issues from the nerve blocker. I don't leave negative reviews, and I don't complain, however this experience was like none other & I don't want people to make the same mistake I did. Do your research. read more

They scheduled it for the wrong date and time, and because we couldn't make that random appointment they scheduled, they refused treatment of anykind, would not reschedule the appointment they made in error. I've never been scared of the dentist in my whole entire life even as a child but this lady made me absolutely terrified. I went in to get a cleaning done and get a broken tooth checked out. Apparently the hygienist who usually cleans teeth wasn't in for the day so the doctor told me she was going to proceed to do it, she NEVER mentioned me that she wasn't going to do the regular cleaning this lady sat for 3 hours scraping my teeth and gums with the one tool that they have. She made my mouth sore for 3 months, I wasn't able to eat anything for 2 weeks everything was hurting me, talking, even just moving my mouth would cause so much pain to me. Meanwhile she kept the broken tooth in my mouth didn't even try to help me or make it better and just left me hanging about actually fixing my back tooth, here we are almost a year later and haven't heard a single thing from that dentist office. read more

Do everything and anything to avoid this place at any cost! I have years of stories about this dentist but this last one put me over the edge. A year ago I needed a crown. Dr. Medhi had one made for me and once it came in she cemented it in. Over the next four months,it fell out three different times and three different times she re-cemented it in. After the fourth time, she said she would make me a new crown at her expense being my insurance wouldn't pay for a new one. However, she told me she was unable to work on my mouth because she had her assistant walk out on her (shocker). She told me she would call me as soon as she got a new assistant. Two months and no call. So I call. I spoke to her and she promised me she would call me once again and she never called. I called two more times, leaving messages and no reply. I finally found a new dentist. Thank God!!! By the way, all of this took place for almost a year! I went into the office to get my chart, didn't see her, but she had the balls to call me, leave a message asking why I left her practice and that she's been waiting for ME to make an appointment for my crown. My next appt after being assured i would be first appt made me wait. Then wanted to do unnecessary dental xrays( they did a full set 6 months previous). After 40 mins and we still had not even started my cleaning... I asked if we could just get on with the cleaning. "NO, you need to calm down" . She wanted to talk. She looked in my mouth for 5 seconds and left the room, talked about me in the hall with the hygienist and left me in the chair for approximately 15 min. with no explanation. She wanted to pull out 2 teeth because my insurance covers two teeth per year and tried to convince me that my bottom teeth were loose--and they were not! Office personnel were rude and the hygienist told me " we don't do miracles here". Well, that did it! This place is only interested in how much they can get out of your insurance company. I saw 'Dr' Mehdi over four years ago, but I have vivid memories. This was, absolutely, THE worst dentist I have ever been to. First of all, while waiting for her, I could hear a young, mentally disabled woman, crying while being worked on and screaming that she was in pain. Mehdi didnt seem to mind a bit. Just kept drilling.I had to sit there listening to her cry out "OW! IT HURTS!" for a good 15 minutes. When she got to me, she was rough, splitting my lip and yanking my face around. She was condescending and had terrible bedside manners. She did NOT tell me the things she was doing and drilled on teeth I did not want touched. While drilling in one tooth, which had a root canal done on it the month before, she hurt me so badly that i screamed. She accused me of being a baby and refused to give me any Novocaine. Her use of a drill is horrifying. She presses so hard that your entire tooth heats up. My jaw, inside, was burned and hurt for weeks. I also, unfortunately, had two caps put on by her and they are already failing. They look rotted and disgusting and one is loose. She also drilled out two teeth that didnt need it and put in two fillings. SHe drilled giant holes in them without telling me first, so I had to let her finish, otherwise I would have had to walk out with nerves exposed. Those teeth are falling apart now. They were fine before! The method she used to put the fillings in was extremely amateur. She made pockets so there are places I cannot clean, the teeth were so close I could not floss (one has since broken and another is on its way). PLEASE... DO NOT GO HERE. When I moved upstate to NY for work back in 2012, I looked for dentists that took my insurance with the company I worked for (Globalfoundries). Dr. Shazia is one of the most amazing dentists I have ever met. Nice to say that she is also a native NYCer such as myself. I love her personality, and her professionalism. She redid all my fillings, and not only that, she always followed up with me personally a few days later via phone call and text. I can say with absolute certainty that Dr. Shazia cares for her patients. Her personality is amazing and she is hilarious. Highly recommend her! read more

I'm sorry but the last I checked- I'm the only one who knows what kind of pain I'm in. My teeth are so sensitive but the feelings of those working here are not. As a person who has always had huge anxiety and straight fear of everything that comes with walking into a dentist office, I haven't been in years & my mouth needed a lot of work done. I found this office, it accepted ny insurance and although I read some discouraging reviews I went anyways because I was in a lot of pain. All that being said I am on my 2nd visit of fillings etc, cried and panicked... and let me tell you Dr. Mehdi and her assistant Charlotte have been phenomenal, very patient with me and always making sure I'm comfortable and not in pain. Went here for the first time two weeks ago just for a cleaning. The doctor was very rude and complained about another patient to me. Told me I had a bad smile and that if I didn't get braces no one would like me. My mouth was cut in multiple places which I know can happen with the instruments but I have a huge slice on one of my gums which could have been avoided if the doctor was more careful and a little more gentle. My mouth is still not completely healed and I am still in pain two week after I had my appointment. Definitely not going back and would not recommend this to any one. read more

My first time going to this dental office was terrible. When the dentist finally came in to look at my teeth and x-rays, she made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I have had issues with my teeth from lack of calcium and a vitamin deficiency and the way this woman spoke to me about my teeth was rude, unprofessional and honestly made me feel bad. I went here for checkups and cleanings for about 2 years because they were the only ones that took my insurance. I did not like this practice at all. The staff all seemed miserable every time I went. The hygienist was unfriendly and actually sarcastic when I said I was nervous about my cleaning because my gums were sensitive. I never felt like she did a great job either; usually my teeth feel super clean, shiny and bright after a cleaning but not with her. The dentist was never friendly and at times could be downright rude. Last time I went she was annoyed that I refused x-rays because I was pregnant which I found incredible. I am sadden to even have to give this dental office even one star. They certainly don't deserve it. A couple months ago my husband had set up a dental appointment for me without my knowledge, I had to cancel because of work, I had thus been super sick twice after and had no clue that even if you cancel 24 hours in advance once you cancel 3 times you are kicked from the office and never allowed to return. I had called in the beginning of March as I had lost a filling and needed some other dental work. The receptionist was extremely rude to me on the phone. She explained I wasn't allowed there despite the fact I had cancelled each appointment at minimum 24 hours in advanced. As I was starting to cry I told her fine I will find another place for my family to go, she then laughed at me and said as she hung up the phone on me she said "bye b*tch!" I have never been so insulted and treated with such disrespect as I was at Saratoga Dental. Sadly I did not get the lady's name as it is not customary when they answer the phone to give out their names. read more

My first impression was that Dr. Mehdi was professional but not easy to talk to, but at the end of my first visit I had some questions and she didn't rush off but took the time to answer all of them and more. I just needed to ask. Later I had a tooth break and was concerned about being able to get in to have it fixed, but they scheduled me in early the next day. Great experience... until I met the dentist. She berated her wonderful staff right in front of me several times, and never for any valid reason. Once it was because the assistant asked her to repeat something she didn't hear well. Dr. Mehdi said, "If you can't do your job, we will get someone else to do it." Had a terrible experience here. First of all, the doctor was less than friendly and expected me to know what tooth was number 15! She was in and out within a minute and made me feel unimportant. Also, she did not make it clear to me what to do with my situation. She was also extremely rude to her coworkers while I was in the room with them. The first people I was greeted by were great, up until the hygienist and her. It got progressively worse. I took my daughters here for cleanings and was completely appalled and disgusted by the treatment of myself and my daughters. I was asked if I wanted them to have a fluoride treatment, when I said no, the dentist asked my youngest daughter - what is wrong with your mother? My oldest daughter who is 16 was in tears when she came out of the exam room. She said her mouth was hurting so bad. The dentist told her that she would need braces and that without them she would be ugly, have a bad smile and no one would like her. Also that without braces her teeth would rot, her jaw would decay and she would have to get surgery. First of all, WHAT?! And second, who says that stuff to a kid?? Once both my kids were done and I was checking out, the dentist came out and asked me why I had refused fluoride. I stated it was a personal choice. She proceeded to HARASS me right there about my poor decision to refuse fluoride. That apparently I must think cavities are better than getting a fluoride treatment. I stated I did not want an argument but she continued to berate me. Once we got home I was able to check my daughters mouth as she was in a lot of pain. She had a puncture would underneath her tongue that was bleeding and a large scrape along the inside of her gum line - that was still bleeding sporadically 2 DAYS LATER. I had to take her to a different dentist just to make sure everything was ok and no infections. DO NOT GO HERE. And definitely do not take your kids here. And if you do not heed any of the bad reviews about this practice - at the VERY LEAST demand that you go in the exam room with your kids. I will never go back here. Read the reviews, save yourself a trip. Find a different dentist. You can't make this stuff up. read more

I would NOT recommend this dental office AT ALL! The dentist told my 14 year old daughter that she had 1 cavity and when we went back 3 weeks later 1 cavity turned into 3 cavities and 2 root canals. We ended up getting two cavities filled and then decided to get a second opinion on the other 3 teeth. The two teeth that we had the dentist fill, the dentist was going to drill without any Novocain. When I asked her she said "well I don't think she needs it.". I could not believe it. so when my daughter asked for some Novocain, she gave my daughter no warning and just shoved the needle in her mouth. Just pain mean and seemed like we we're out of line even asking for Novocain. Also she seemed like she was put out for us even being there. It was awful. My daughter cried and asked not to ever go back t o her again. The dentist was rude every time we visited for a check up. and is not very friendly. JUST THE WORST! I would not give her any stars.. in this case I had to give at lease 1. By the way, the second opinion I got, my daughter did not have any other cavities or root canals. read more

I had to switch dentists when my insurance changed. I set up the appointment with Saratoga Dental and the practice had to push back my appointment to future dates, twice! I went to that practice in the first place because they could fit me in the quickest, but they couldn't follow through with the original appointment so I felt it was a bait-and-switch. When the practice finally kept my appointment, I waited for about a half-hour in the waiting room. I had copies of my recent X-rays that were less than a year old, but they did a full X-ray workup on me, which I wish I refused. They had a note on the X-ray machine to let the tech. know what X-rays to give for which insurance company, so that leads me to believe they give the full workup depending on the insurance and not whether or not the patient needs them. In hindsight, I wish that I refused due to the dangers of X-rays. The tech. only did the X-rays and I had to wait at least another half-hour for the dentist, Dr. Shazia Mehdi. I could hear the dentist with a young patient who was having a tough time based on his screams in the cubicle next to me. The dentist apologized for the wait when she saw me and she appeared flustered. She performed a quick cleaning on my teeth and was extremely rough. I felt she rushed and had zero beside manner. After the appointment, I experienced increased sensitivity along the gumline above one of my teeth. It was sensitive for many months after, especially when I drank something cold or used mouthwash. I switched practices again and will never go back to see Dr. Shazia Mehdi. read more

AWFUL... Went in for fillings and a cleaning now in alot of pain after nearly a month. She barely gave me anything to numb the spots she was working, never explained to me what she was doing on each tooth. Instead of asking me to turn my head she would just rip my head to the side using my cheeks. The person helping her had no idea what they were doing and barely used the suction which made everything fall to the back of my throat which lead to me gagging and she would get pissed off at me and start huffing. She kept stuffing a rubber thing in my mouth to keep me from closing my mouth which was due to never getting a break. She had my mouth bleeding so badly that she had to stuff a bunch of gaze in my mouth and the bibe on my chest was covered in blood. Not to mention her and the assistant argued the whole time she was working on me. The fillings are all bumpy and not even with one another and my bite is extremely off. She never explained what kinda fillings I have. Now nearly a month later I still have to take pain meds just to get through the day and be able to eat. And now the bottom teeth are very sensitive and can't eat anything hard without getting a extremely shocking pain...... DO NOT GO THERE, THEY ARE AWFUL AND MY TOOTH ARE NOW RUIN!!!!!!!!! read more
