Up came Root Canal Specialists, figured with a name like that and besides being the closet (Clifton Park office), how could I go wrong? Upon arriving for the consultation, they performed all the necessary X-rays in 3-D. Dr. Byme explained that the number 30 molar was severely impacted in all four roots, and it would be a challenging job but could be done. She explains that it would take maybe one visit, but more than likely two visits, to perform the work. I was to be almost fully sedated with Triazolam and Nitrous Oxide when seated in the chair before the procedure started. She also offered an option to watch TV, listen to the radio, with their headphones or bring in my headphones and device. All in all, I underwent four visits, the consultation, two for the procedure, and one for a follow-up to make sure that everything was done correctly. They don't accept dental insurance, but will complete the necessary forms and submit them to your dental plan. I had to call the practice to request a letter explaining why I needed to be sedated for my insurance plan.They forwarded the letter after two tries, the first being lost in the mail? At one visit, my cleaning was performed by the dentist herself and was very painful. Without any…read morewarning or numbing, she began drilling into my teeth during what was supposed to be a routine cleaning. When I stopped her to ask what she was doing and told her I was in pain, she stated she "needed to do a deep cleaning of the old fillings" which had never been discussed beforehand. During another visit while I was 7 months pregnant, I declined X-rays due to being pregnant. Both the dentist and hygienist responded in a hostile and unprofessional manner, raising their voices and questioning my decision, stating they "couldn't even do a cleaning without X-rays because it's like going in blind." I was ultimately pressured into signing a waiver. At my current dental office, I was informed that deferring routine X-rays during pregnancy (unless there is a specific concern) is standard practice. I was also fitted for a mouth guard for TMJ at this office. The guard I received was poorly made, missing contact with approximately a quarter of my back teeth. It was sharp and uncomfortable. When I raised concerns, I was told this was intentional because "those teeth must not touch," without any further explanation or adjustment. I later presented with severe molar pain and lingering sensitivity to cold. Despite significant pain (requiring around the clock ibuprofen and acetaminophen and preventing me from eating) the dentist took a single X-ray, did not perform a thorough assessment and dismissed my symptoms, advising only to use Sensodyne toothpaste. I sought a second opinion from an endodontist, who performed appropriate diagnostic testing (including cold testing and percussion) and diagnosed an obvious need for a root canal. After completing the root canal, I was instructed to return to this office for a crown placement. Despite my repeated communication that my insurance (Medicaid) would not cover a crown and my willingness to pay out of pocket, the office delayed treatment for approximately two months while repeatedly attempting prior authorization. During this time, I emphasized that timely crown placement (ideally within a couple of weeks) is important to prevent fracture. When I finally received the crown procedure, I was given no local anesthesia. When I questioned this, the dentist responded dismissively, stating that numbing was unnecessary after a root canal. The procedure was extremely painful. The temporary crown placed was bulky and uncomfortable, and I was told no adjustments could be made. The permanent crown was not placed until roughly two months after the root canal, and the tooth ultimately fractured and had to be extracted. Since switching to a new dentist, I required another crown following a root canal. This provider used appropriate local anesthesia and confirmed that numbing during post root canal crown preparation is standard of care. He expressed concern upon hearing about my prior experience. Additionally, I recently received a bill for a procedure completed years ago that I had already paid in full and have documentation for. When I called to dispute the charge, I was told it represented an insurance balance; however, I had not used insurance for that procedure. Overall, I found the dentist to be unprofessional, dismissive, and at times hostile toward both patients and staff. Based on my experiences, I would recommend staying far away from this office. I am not sure how the dental board has not revoked her license.

To my surprise and disappointment, my appointment was for an evaluation not a root canal. So, I had to make another appointment and take another day off work. The visit cost me $391.00. She tacked on unnecessary tests and procedures to line her pockets. The day of the appointment, I get a call from the office telling me I need to reschedule because the doctor was sick. In all, she cancelled on the day of my appointment not 1, not 2, but 3 times! Unbelievable! I decided she was too unreliable and I told the office manager that I'm going to have to find another dentist. I also told her I should get a partial refund for my wasted time and inconvenience (I live 90 miles away). She said she will ask the doctor and get back to me. Of course, she never did. What ethical doctor cancels 3 times the day of an appointment? This was intentional! After the entire ordeal was over, I looked up Dr. Neda's reviews on Google. I went by the most recent. And what I noticed is that there are some people that had good experiences with 5 star reviews. But most were terrible with 1 star reviews. As I scroll down, I see 5 stars, 1 star, 4 stars and 1 star respectively. Basically, it's either she's off or she's on. It shouldn't be like that. That's NOT how a doctor should be. I located a good dentist in my area and made an appointment for a root canal. He did the consult and x-rays on the same day as the root canal. Furthermore, I was not charged for the consult and X-rays. It was all included in the cost of the root canal. The doctor was very friendly, courteous and answered my questions thoroughly. Unlike Dr. Nada, who was very rude and short and gave one-word answers, "yes" and "no" (I'm not making that up). Please take heed to my warning about this incompetent dentist. She will waste your time and take your money. I learned my lesson to check the reviews first. :(

They extracted the tooth and convinced me to have an implant installed, but required I pay all expenses upfront. They told me I was required to have intravenous sedation as Dr Neda does not do surgery without intravenous sedation (of course they collected more money for this type of sedation). During the sedation, the tech missed my vein and I passed out temporarily. They called the ambulance and forced me to go by ambulance to the hospital, even though I said (and signed a release form) that I didn't need to go to the hospital. I have given over 8 gallons of blood and this is the first time I have passed out when stuck with a needle. Dr Neda had me come back a month later and placed the implant in a poor location, which she discovered at the follow-up checkup 3 months later! She stated that she would redo the procedure, at her cost, as the implant was not in a good spot. When I returned to have it redone, she sedated me, as usual, but then decided NOT to redo the procedure and that I should just keep the implant where it was! The location would have left a large gap between the implanted tooth and adjacent tooth! I then consulted with three other dentists who said the implant was poorly placed, and I asked Dr Neda for a refund - she said absolutely NOT! So I sued her in small claims court for malpractice just to try to get my $5K back that I already gave her! She countersued for wasting her time and had a high priced malpractice lawyer defending her - I was left to defend myself and didn't stand a chance. The judge dropped her lawsuit and we had 4 court appearances! Her lawyer had all my evidence dismissed, as I didn't have the technicians/ doctors who performed the x-rays present as a witness, nor the ambulance drivers, nor the dentists whom I consulted.... Thus I lost my case and Dr Neda got to keep the $5K I paid her - she was ecstatic to have defeated me in court! Needless to say, Dr Neda is the worst dentist I have ever worked with and she should have been banned from practicing! I reported her to the NYS Dental association and they had initially determined that an investigation was needed. They told me they would just fine her and slap her on the wrist if found she was negligent. But that I would need to sue her if I was going to get any money back! My recommendation is : Do NOT go to this practice unless you want to risk working with a dentist who is more concerned with money and her reputation than treating a patient in a professional and compassionate manner!

However after learning…read morethat I required multi visits and I had to take care of my Dental INS on my own (or they would kindly send out the invoice(s) I had to pause my procedure the day I showed up for my appt. and was informed I had to pay over 3K for that visit to begin. I'm not sure why I didn't catch this after my initial exam but I didnt. Thankfully the pain was manageable and eventually I was ready to reschedule my "Dental Project" only to be told they elected NOT to do my work and to take a hike. (maybe not in those exact words) I was flabbergasted. I have never had this type of experience ever in my life w/ a Dr./Practice. Referred by dentist. Made appt 10/10 for 10/14 at 3:30. Asked a bunch of intake questions by office…read moremanager including if I would use sedation. Advised absolutely not. Completed online intake. Called at 2:28 day of to come at 3. Advised I was 30 minutes away. Not happy and will tell Dr, fear in voice. Called at 2:48 asked where I was, that it was 2:50 and I was required to be there at 2:45 for my 3:00 appt. Get there and staff is overwhelmed huffing and puffing, clearly unhappy. Training multiple people- never a good sign in a very small office. Dr. Francisco A. Banchs comes in criticizes my previous root canal and endodontist. States hole drilled is huge, it's not centered, he destroyed to wide of my tooth surface. Then comes the sales pitch of his perfect technique and equipment. He *thinks* I may have another root due to how the previous root canal was not centered, but cannot guarantee and cannot show me proof of this or infection on my images. He then tells me how he'll fix it and tells me about sedation. He states he requires as it is 2.5 hours and I cannot move. It would not be safe without. I said absolutely not. He tried to convince me otherwise. I refused. I have had 4 wisdom teeth removed, 3 regular teeth removed, 3 implants drilled and placed into my bone, 2 root canals both needing a second treatment, a crown lengthening procedure all without sedation and just with local. I absolutely will not have dental work with sedation in an office setting without an anesthesiologist. He acted like an angry child and told his assistant we'll just send the notes over then. I then went to the receptionist, who happened to be the office manager Lisa that booked my appt. I asked her why I was even allowed to schedule after being asked if I will use sedation and adamantly refusing(she was able to verify I told her this on my intake and she documented it). I advised this was a waste of my time and money, and felt very scam like. You could tell she agreed and was afraid to say anything. Her response was some people change their minds. I advised I should have been provided this information on the phone, so I could make that decision and decide who to see. I requested my records including his note and my intake paperwork, which still have not been provided to me as of December. I was told by office manager and provider they would be mailed to me. I was then offered to see the other doctor- his wife, as she will do without. I asked why it is safe for her to do and not him? I was told she drills bigger holes. So I just sat through this Dr criticizing the prior work, but his own wife does subpar work in his opinion. I wouldn't want to be his wife. I've discussed with my dentist and another endodontist that sedation is never needed in this case and is patient choice. I was also told I do not have another root and this provider just chose to show an odd cut of a ct to back up his findings. So he was trying to do thousands of dollars in work for no reason. His technique also is not supported by major endodontist programs. I've asked for my $395 consult fee to be refunded and they've refused. They should've given me the choice of who to see knowing prior to appointment I advised I would not do sedation. The office manager who booked this appointment knew at the time of booking this provider wouldn't do any work on me without.

The doctor explained the procedure so that I understood it and then went to work. I was impressed that I actually felt no pain during the procedures. I actually had the procedure done on two teeth on two separate days, both were painless experiences. They submitted the paperwork to my insurance company very promptly too. So if you need a root canal I highly recommend Doctor Rizzuto and Co.
