    Spanish omelet

Kicked off my weekend with a stop at this Edmonton breakfast institution. There are no surprises here - good food, diner decor & top notch customer service I had the Spanish omelette special & it arrived on the table before I had finished my first cup of coffee If you are in South Edmonton make this a stop

My boyfriend begged me to try this restaurant for months when we first moved to the south side. I refused, saying it was a dive and the food could not be good. One day, a friend called me in crisis and said we should meet for breakfast. Guess where she wanted to go? Saratoga. So I agreed, because she was a friend in need. How could I refuse? We went there for breakfast and it was awesome. The two of us had coffee, fried eggs with bacon, hashbrowns and toast. Our bill came to $25 with tip. Whoo hoo! So I let my boyfriend take me back. Over and over again. We have been going there consistently on Sunday mornings for almost 6 months now. The hostess/owner always recognizes us and so do our servers. We almost never need to remind them of our order anymore and we always get great service. The place may look like a truckstop (in fact, I am pretty sure it once was one) but it really does have great food and good service. Tip: Avoid 9:30-11:00 am arrival on Saturday or Sundays. The place is packed with church goers and family groups and you will be waiting. We usually try to go early, and we end up leaving right as the rush arrives. Later works too-- they serve breakfast all day. It sucks that my boyfriend won this battle.. but what a great find!

    Potato Pancakes with Sausages

The Saratoga Restaurant has been in business for a long time. It opened in 1958 and remodeled around five to ten years ago. This is a classic truck stop with a huge parking lot suited to large rigs although these days those rigs are more likely to be RVs or motorhomes than tractor-trailer units. It's very busy on weekends and steady but not overly busy on week days. Expect diner type food that is perhaps a step up from the usual diner. Today I had potato pancakes. They came with a meat of my choice (ham, bacon or sausages) and a slice of melon. The pancakes were very tasty although they appeared to be deep-fried if that is a concern. Coffee is the first thing they bring and my cup didn't go dry until I wanted it to. The staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy themselves. I noticed that they seemed to be particularly patient with older customers. If you have a good sized appetite and are not looking for the healthiest meal in town you will be happy here.

Amazing food! This is a comfort food haven and the food is soooo tasty with large portions. The Club Sandwich with fries and gravy is a must have!!!! Will definitely return whenever I'm in Edmonton!!

We went here as we were too impatient to wait in Cora's infamous line just up the block. This place compares more to a Humpty's than a Cora. Service: 4/5. very good, we were seated right away, all smiles and hot coffee promptly. Our server had a light Vietnamese accent, so if you get her you can expect no mistakes. Food: 2.5/5. We ordered eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was from a package, you know, the thick and bland type? However the dollar pancakes were cooked just right and so was the egg (ordered medium), and a side fruit bowl was actually really varied and enough for two light eaters.

. With time to get comfortable before the food arrived, I noticed the decor is mostly darker wood and reminded me of a cozy restaurant that was very friendly to us in Lyon a couple of weeks ago

I loved my Red Curry Laksa. It was fresh and rich. Loved the red coconut curry sauce. The seafood was a decent portion. My friend liked her falafal but it definately wasn't the best she has had and was eyeing up my curry. Service was OK. I feel like because we didn't order alcoholic beverages, we didn't get service as much as the tables that did. That won't prevent me from coming here again.

The decor is very nice - brick walls and posters, and hand written beer menu, to name a few. Service was very good, professional, and friendly!! Overall good experience, and will return again in the future.

Brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday, otherwise they open for lunch (closed Mondays). Epic Market is huge. This will be a very popular place for the Whyte Avenue crowd as there are so many options available depending on which floor you enter. We were on the second floor today for brunch but the first floor, which has a similar look and feel, has a Mexican menu. It opens for lunch at 11:30am. It's a unique concept for Edmonton. The server said that they've opened similar restaurants in larger cities like Toronto but Edmonton is their first venture into a "smaller market". The brunch menu was interesting with some unique features and some typical offerings. I had the Pork Bennie, for $18.00 in 2024. The prices are quite reasonable for the type and quantity of the food. My bennie was good. My only criticism is that a special house ketchup would have been a nice touch. The service was excellent and we had a nice view of Gateway Blvd out the window. The coffee includes endless refills which is good because the cups were not very large. I'm sure the vibe is much different for dinner than brunch, but based on our experience, I'll definitely return.

My wife and I both ordered the Chandru Special for $17.50. It's a crepe with bacon and eggs inside plus some cheese slices melted on top. There was a side of fresh fruit. The presentation was somewhat lacking as the cheese slices made it look like something you find at your children's birthday party. The dish definitely needed some sauce to help it down. At least the fruit was good. Our server was very skilled at tunnel vision as she didn't see us even when walking right by our table. Eventually we caught her and got a refill for our coffee. She was pleasent enough when she arrived but definitely didn't want to do refills. On a more positive note, my friend ordered an omelet which came with potatoes that looked like thick potato chips. They looked good and he liked them. If I return it will be because I am in the area and can't find a better place. In other words, three stars out of five.

We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly.
