The fish wasn't fried golden brown the oil appeared to be old. To my surprise the portion of the sides were really large. Ordered a shrimp quesadilla wasn't expecting the huge green peppers and excessive amount of oil. I also had a chicken rotisserie quesadilla. No oil but a huge amount of green peppers. *3.5 Stars* Sylvester's has been a neighborhood favorite for quite some time. The location on Saint Barnabus Road stays congested much like the little shopping center that it resides in. Their menu is extensive. I've had several items such as the pollo a la brasa, fajita de pollo con camarones, tacos de pescado, and quesadillas. Everything was good. You can convert your meal into a platter where you choose rice and black beans or rice and salad for $2.95, which is a great value when you consider the amount of food, taste, and overall cost. During peak hours, I place my order at least 20 minutes in advance, they provide the order number, but it's never ready when I arrive for pick up. The workers are nice enough, but I don't think they've developed an effective system for managing the demand during the peak times. The restaurant is really small, some choose to eat inside while everyone else is forming lines to place orders and pick up. Confusing! I'm planning to try their pupusas to compare to my Salvadorian spots. Check Sylvester's out if you're in the area, but again, place your order in advance or you may wait 30 minutes. +Tip: They play good music while you wait read more

This is the best spot to get a healthy, delicious meal for a great price. My friend Chris recommended to go eat at the Sylvester's off Allentown Road in Camp Springs. Even though this isn't the location, I still had to write this long-over-due review. He ordered us both the Sylvester's steak platter with rice and salad. It was love at first bite! The steak strip was tender and juicy cooked to perfection, which was layed over a bed of garden vegeatble rice(my new favorite!) It is accompanied by a side of spring salad with a slice of tomato(wish they would use cherry tomatoes instead of plum), a slice of cucumber, and a lime wedge. It also comes with a side of ranch dressing. You definitly get your money's worth. The portion size is a big heaping helping and certainly, a certified belly buster! Ever since that day, I have been a a faithful customer returning frequently and always have a more than satisfying delicious meal! This is by far the best chain restaurant to go to when looking for a low cost, but high quality, meal. The high Yelp ratings led to me eating at Silvestre. We ordered the Grilled Chicken platter with rice, salad, and a side of fries. I can't review the salad because we never received the salad. The fries are not categorized correctly. They are Steak fries or Potato Wedges. I'm not a fan of either Steak Fries or Potato Wedges; therefore I was disappointed with a super greasy amount of potato on my plate that didn't even have seasoning or salt with horrible no name brand ketchup packets (The ketchup is Watery sugary red stuff). Fries are greasy when the oil is at the wrong temperature when the fries are added to the oil. So, these greasy fries made the paper bowl and the paper bag Transparent. The grilled chicken breast is seasoned, thin, pounded flat, and dry. The lack of moisture lends to a chewy-dry dehydrated meat, jerky-texture. The yellow rice is normal yellow rice that has had oil added to it. The hot sauce is hot. The green sauce would be good on seafood. (But I didn't order seafood). Both sauces have had water added, they are thin sauces. We ordered takeout and picked the food up. Its a dive. Someone needs to change the mop water and use degreaser on all the surfaces. read more

The hubs and I stopped by for a later lunch, and we ordered: a 1/4 Pollo (Quarter Chicken plate that came with 2 sides of your choice (fries, cole slaw, rice, yuca, black beans, plantain, or salad) - we chose the coleslaw and the fries; the chicken was simple and good, but the aji sauce that had a nice kick to it made it much more enjoyable!); Steak Fajita platter (grilled steak strips with bell peppers and onions, this was super tasty! The steak was marinated and seasoned perfectly, and the sauteed bell peppers and onions were quite generous (which I love!); nestled on top of yellow rice (which was super tasty), it caught all the juices from the meats/veggies which made it even more delicious! Don't forget to use the spicy aji sauce for the fajitas, too!); and, an order of Steak tacos and an order of Shrimp tacos (it was a little disappointing that flour tortillas were used; the steak tacos contained the same strips of steak from the fajitas; the shrimp were mini shrimp that had a nice seasoning on them, but not worth getting again). The sides of the cole slaw (which came lukewarm) and the black beans were both forgettable. I definitely will come back for the fajitas and probably double-up on the rice! This is a good alternative to the Silver Hill Road (Suitland) location. It's a smaller establishment, but there's never a line -- and there's plenty of risk-free parking available. You really can't go wrong with this place. The chicken dishes are flavored to the bone. Literally. The Rotisserie Chicken Supper Sub is my go-to meal. Add fries and a drink, and you've got a good cheap meal with a (slight) chance for leftovers. Lately, the Tilapia Filet (fish tacos) have been my order. I've had the Chicken Fajita (Fajita de Pollo) once or twice and that's pretty good, too. The Pollo Entero (Whole Chicken) is a sure-fire favorite for large crowds -- with or without a side dish. If you're invited to a pot luck, bring this. **Caution: Do NOT park in the Dentist's office parking lot. They WILL tow your car...quick! read more

A staple if you're in the area looking for good Peruvian chicken! Now the locations aren't in the most lavish areas but by the food you would never know it! I get the fajita plate with shrimp and steak/black beans and yellow rice ($11) and a side of plantains ($3). Super jumbo shrimp used and well seasoned steak pieces with HUGE portion sizes. I mean really, you can get a whole chicken dinner with sides for like 13 bucks. Make sure to call in your order though, the wait is always decently long and I like to just go in and get my food and hop back in the car. read more
