a plate of sushi and a plate of rolls

If you stick to the basics of California Roll, shrimp tempura roll, Baltimore Roll, Chicken Teriyaki Roll and if your a lil daring "a Philadelphia roll , this is your go to that's all I can vouch for ! All of the food I received came with ginger and Wasabi and I been going here for years. This location is in the mall!

Found this new fast food Japanese in White Marsh and had to check it out. The service was very fast and friendly. The place was clean and well laid out I had the Chicken Teriyaki and chicken egg roll. Compared to other Japanese I've had this was good. However, for a fast food place I would call it very good. Definitely better than Panda Express down the street. If you in a hurry and want some acceptable Japanese, give this place a try.

Chicken and shrimp with fried rice. All for about 12 bucks and change. Very good!

I went to this new Sarku location in White Marsh, Halloween, 2020. I was delightfully surprised that there was a new location that was still near my house. Not sure if the one in the mall still exists, but the parking and placement of the new restaurant came with much ease. Because of Covid, chairs and tables were moved out of the way, so it's carry out only right now. The prices are still affordable, which is awesome. I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with fried rice. I asked for extra chicken, but the cashier rung it up as extra shrimp. It honestly wasn't a big deal, as I am a shrimp lover. Anyways, there was a bit of a wait. There's a booth to sit, which I did. After about ten minutes, my order was ready. When I returned home, I was impressed with how much food they gave me! Everything was delicious and I even had enough left over the next day! I wish I had a bit more veggies, but I'm far from complaining! I would definitely go back soon to try the beef and shrimp combo in the near future. I hope they stick around for a while.

Sarku Japan is one of those chains that you can reliably count on to have good solid comfort food. I mean, who doesn't love tender tepan chicken, beef, or shrimp made fresh right in front of you? Price is reasonable, and if you're a regular, don't forget to ask for the frequent diner card, sixth order of the chicken teriyaki is free. This is no Benihana, but then again Benihana is no Sarku. One word of advice though: eat this as quickly as you can, don't let it sit overnight in the fridge and try to reheat it later, the tenderizer they use (a type of tapioca powder) will congeal and even agglomerate in the fridge and will not taste as good or look as good overnight.

Amazing food, Fair prices, fast service. This place is a must try and blows mall food court standards out of the water! Pro-tip ask for extra sauce when you pick up your order

    False advertising.

Refused to honor coupon they gave us. There was no expiration on the coupon. Said it was corporates fault and not theirs.

I was in the Food Court of the White Marsh Mall and couldn't figure out what I wanted. I was standing near Sarku Japan and a customer there said that she tries to get sushi here as often as she can. So I opted to get sushi! Thanks friendly stranger! The cashier was friendly and gave me a California Roll sample. I ordered the salmon avocado and the cashier suggested that I order another type of roll as it was cheaper that way. I should have, but passed. I watched them make it and five minutes later, I was sitting down to eat. For Food Court Mall sushi, this was pretty good! Service was friendly and the price was right!

For being in a mall and so cheap this sushi was a ok now my book. It's been 24 hours and I'm not sick yet ! Lol. Rolls were kinda constructed sloppy but the taste was there. Served on a cute Dixie paper plate lol. Communication was def a barrier here . But all in all , when u get 3 decent sized rolls for 12 bucks , I'll take it . They have a list of rolls u can get 3 for 10, and a couple extra rolls that are only one dollar extra. We got the salmon avacado, spicy tuna, and "3 color fish" or something like that name . Not bad

For a Saturday night, the crowd was lighter than expected, which worked in our favor. We were seated immediately and food came out fast. The restaurant was still active, just not chaotic. The hot bar was well‑maintained, with staff constantly refreshing items and keeping the area clean. Tables were bussed quickly, and the entire place felt organized and spotless. Our waiter was extremely patient, even as we went past the 90‑minute limit. He stayed kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we wanted. I'll definitely return soon, and I highly recommend this place, especially for sushi lovers. With a score of 25 out of 25, I give this restaurant an A+.

I've also seen their IG post from different influencers and the food looked amazing... I decided to go here on a Saturday around 430pm. It slowly got more and more busy, but it was pretty chill when I got there. Kanji Sushi is located in the White Marsh Mall. Right by the entrance near the parking lot area. The pricing for "All You Can Eat Sushi" is pretty fair, $31 for adults. If you want the sashimi, it's a $5 upcharge. With a 90 minute dining time limit. Leftovers will be charged, including the sushi rice. The drinks are not included. Certain fountain soda drinks are free refill and others are charged per drink. (They had one of my faves Cherry Cola! Yaaaas.) They also had juices, lemonade, tea, "marble soda"/ ramune where you pop a marble to open the drink, sparkling water. They don't currently have a liquer license so not alcohol yet. I believe there are also ala carte options where you can purchase each individual item separately instead of all you can eat, but don't quote me on that. Behind the hostess area there is a Maneki Neko/ Maneko good luck japanese cat figure along with different cities in Japan written on the wood behind it. Across from that are 2 claw machines. Lots of seating inside, tables and booths. Naturally, I HAD TO GET THE SASHIMI add on option for +$5 on the AYCE price... if you love fresh raw slices of sashimi, this is where they're at! (I know raw sushi isn't everyone's jams, but there are a lot of cooked options here too!) I love all things sushi and sashimi... all things including the raw fishies!!! Sashimi items included Salmon/ Sake, Tuna/ Maguro, Yellowtail/ Hamachi, Egg Custard/ Tamago, Tobiko/ Flying Fish Roe (these are placed on slices of crunchy cucumber - yummy!), White Tuna/ Escolar, Red Snapper/ Tai, Crab Meat Sticks/ Kani, Squid/ Ika, and Red Surf Clam/ Hokkigai. And a few sashimi items not listed on the menu including Shrimp/ Ebi, Eel/ Unagi, Tofu Skin/ Aburage and Smoked Salmon available. Please ask your server about these. I got most of the sashimi options x2 (2 slices each), minus the tofu skin and smoked salmon. They were beautiful, juicy, healthy cuts plated aside wasabi and pickled ginger/ agari, on a bed of carrot slivers and kale. I know most people just leave these on the plate, but I like to break up my protein with some vegetables in between. Soy sauce is in a container on the table. Appetizers: Miso Soup, Edamame, Seaweed Salad, Kani Salad (spicy/ regular), Kani Special, Yuzu Salmon Salad, Pepper Tuna and Yellowtail Jalapeño (recommended). Don't sleep on the Yellowtail Jalapeño! Succulent slices of Yellowtail with crunchy jalapeño slices and ponzu sauce I believe. The menu selection has a vast variety of everything, both raw and COOKED ITEMS: Cooked items like Fried Rice (Hibachi, Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Vegetables); Fried Udon (wider thicker) Noodles (Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Vegetables); Cooked Sushi Rolls: California, Chicken Tempura, Salmon Skin, Eel Cucumber, Spicy Crab, Salmon Tempura, Shrimp Tempura, and Eel Avocado. Vegetable Sushi Rolls: Spicy Avocado, Mango Avocado, Sweet Potato and Peanut Avocado. Teriyaki (sweet and savory): Chicken, Salmon, Tofu, Shrimp, and Steak. Hibachi: Vegetables, Chicken, Shrimp, Steak, and Salmon. All with the option of with or without vegetables. The other side of the menu showed their specialty rolls. There were 18 choices to choose from! I tried the Spider Roll, which was fried softshell crab with avocado and cucumber with eel sauce. And the Philadelphia Roll. Salmon, cream cheese and avocado. Both were yummy. I really wish I had room to try more of the rolls! Further in the restaurant there were Hot Bar Items like Spring Rolls, Fried Chicken, Crab Cream Cheese Ragoons (recommended - more sweet tangy cream cheese than crab with crispy won ton wrappers), Calamari, Salt and Black Pepper Shrimp, General Tso's Chicken (recommended), and a Seafood Boil. And a Cold Bar, next to the Hot Bar and the Desserts Fridge. It has Cakes, Salad and bottles of Sauces. Fruits like Watermelon, Pineapple, Honeydew Melon, Lychee, and Longan/ Dragon Eye. The Desserts Fridge had cups of ice cream and fruit flavored bars. Again, I wish I had room to try the Desserts, maybe next time! And all the flowers and appreciation for the awesome server I had, Cristin! Thank you Cristin! :D She did an awesome job of making sure I knew how the dining experience at Kanji Sushi worked as it was my first time. She took her time to explain all the things to me about the menu, sashimi, hot and cold bars, drinks and more. She was very attentive, making sure I was good with orders and everything was okay. Such a sweetheart and sparkling personality! Definitely 10/10 customer service! If you got some free time and enjoy sushi, especially sashimi, definitely check this place out! (:

The prices for the sushi are average or maybe slightly above average for the area, but definitely well worth it. The rolls are huge with lots of fresh tasting fish. Their California rolls are huge and have Kani/crab salad with lots of Mayo mixed it - a great classic. As for their Chinese food, it was alright. I personally enjoyed all of these dishes as a Chinese American, whereas my parents who grew up in China and Hong Kong did acknowledge that it is not very authentic. Definitely targeted for the American/western palate but still tasty nonetheless. My favorite was the eggplant and the string beans. The walnut shrimp was very good too, but a little too much breading. Wasn't a huge fan of the triple delight due to the sauce being a bit salty for my taste, but it was packed with so much seafood, meat, and veggies! The service was great - shoutout to the host Stephen and the owner/manager David! Ambiance was nice. Nicely decorated inside and large. Pleasant to eat there.
