For a Saturday night, the crowd was lighter than expected, which worked in our favor. We were seated immediately and food came out fast. The restaurant was still active, just not chaotic. The hot bar was well‑maintained, with staff constantly refreshing items and keeping the area clean. Tables were bussed quickly, and the entire place felt organized and spotless. Our waiter was extremely patient, even as we went past the 90‑minute limit. He stayed kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we wanted. Recently, my coworker mentioned their visit to Kanji Sushi and said they really liked it! So that tempted me to try this place out. I've also seen their IG post from different influencers and the food looked amazing... I decided to go here on a Saturday around 430pm. It slowly got more and more busy, but it was pretty chill when I got there. Kanji Sushi is located in the White Marsh Mall. Right by the entrance near the parking lot area. The pricing for "All You Can Eat Sushi" is pretty fair, $31 for adults. If you want the sashimi, it's a $5 upcharge. With a 90 minute dining time limit. Leftovers will be charged, including the sushi rice. The drinks are not included. Certain fountain soda drinks are free refill and others are charged per drink. (They had one of my faves Cherry Cola! Yaaaas.) They also had juices, lemonade, tea, "marble soda"/ ramune where you pop a marble to open the drink, sparkling water. They don't currently have a liquer license so not alcohol yet. I believe there are also ala carte options where you can purchase each individual item separately instead of all you can eat, but don't quote me on that. Behind the hostess area there is a Maneki Neko/ Maneko good luck japanese cat figure along with different cities in Japan written on the wood behind it. Across from that are 2 claw machines. Lots of seating inside, tables and booths. Naturally, I HAD TO GET THE SASHIMI add on option for +$5 on the AYCE price... if you love fresh raw slices of sashimi, this is where they're at! (I know raw sushi isn't everyone's jams, but there are a lot of cooked options here too!) I love all things sushi and sashimi... all things including the raw fishies!!! Sashimi items included Salmon/ Sake, Tuna/ Maguro, Yellowtail/ Hamachi, Egg Custard/ Tamago, Tobiko/ Flying Fish Roe (these are placed on slices of crunchy cucumber - yummy!), White Tuna/ Escolar, Red Snapper/ Tai, Crab Meat Sticks/ Kani, Squid/ Ika, and Red Surf Clam/ Hokkigai. And a few sashimi items not listed on the menu including Shrimp/ Ebi, Eel/ Unagi, Tofu Skin/ Aburage and Smoked Salmon available. Please ask your server about these. I got most of the sashimi options x2 (2 slices each), minus the tofu skin and smoked salmon. They were beautiful, juicy, healthy cuts plated aside wasabi and pickled ginger/ agari, on a bed of carrot slivers and kale. I know most people just leave these on the plate, but I like to break up my protein with some vegetables in between. Soy sauce is in a container on the table. Appetizers: Miso Soup, Edamame, Seaweed Salad, Kani Salad (spicy/ regular), Kani Special, Yuzu Salmon Salad, Pepper Tuna and Yellowtail Jalapeño (recommended). Don't sleep on the Yellowtail Jalapeño! Succulent slices of Yellowtail with crunchy jalapeño slices and ponzu sauce I believe. The menu selection has a vast variety of everything, both raw and COOKED ITEMS: Cooked items like Fried Rice (Hibachi, Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Vegetables); Fried Udon (wider thicker) Noodles (Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Vegetables); Cooked Sushi Rolls: California, Chicken Tempura, Salmon Skin, Eel Cucumber, Spicy Crab, Salmon Tempura, Shrimp Tempura, and Eel Avocado. Vegetable Sushi Rolls: Spicy Avocado, Mango Avocado, Sweet Potato and Peanut Avocado. Teriyaki (sweet and savory): Chicken, Salmon, Tofu, Shrimp, and Steak. Hibachi: Vegetables, Chicken, Shrimp, Steak, and Salmon. All with the option of with or without vegetables. The other side of the menu showed their specialty rolls. There were 18 choices to choose from! I tried the Spider Roll, which was fried softshell crab with avocado and cucumber with eel sauce. And the Philadelphia Roll. Salmon, cream cheese and avocado. Both were yummy. I really wish I had room to try more of the rolls! Further in the restaurant there were Hot Bar Items like Spring Rolls, Fried Chicken, Crab Cream Cheese Ragoons (recommended - more sweet tangy cream cheese than crab with crispy won ton wrappers), Calamari, Salt and Black Pepper Shrimp, General Tso's Chicken (recommended), and a Seafood Boil. And a Cold Bar, next to the Hot Bar and the Desserts Fridge. It has Cakes, Salad and bottles of Sauces. Fruits like Watermelon, Pineapple, Honeydew Melon, Lychee, and Longan/ Dragon Eye. This was such a great deal for All You Can Eat for $31. It includes the buffet station and most everything off the food menu except the Sashimi items. The inside is large with ample seating and had lots of TVs for entertainment. The server was friendly and attentive to make sure I always got what I needed. Off the menu, I tried their Yan's Special Roll, Rainbow Roll, Salmon sushi, Tuna sushi, and Salmon Hibachi with veggies along with items from the buffet. The rolls are full portions and were delicious. All the seafood tasted quite fresh and were all so tasty. I liked the variety of items provided. As someone who has eaten at countless all-you-can-eat sushi spots, I can confidently say that Kanji Sushi in White Marsh truly stands out! One of the first things that caught my attention was the pricing. All of the AYCE restaurants I've been to always have separate lunch and dinner rates, but Kanji has an incredible deal of ONLY $30 all day long for their full menu + buffet AND it is so worth it! I loved that everything is made to order, so every sushi roll, hibachi, and teriyaki dish arrived fresh, hot, and nicely prepared! Beyond the sushi and hibachi, the buffet selection was fantastic. I was able to try everything from meaty crab legs and seafood boil to wings and wontons! I felt like every craving I had was satisfied here. A unique touch to the buffet is the sauce bottle section. I'm a huge fan of yum yum sauce and spicy mayo, so being able to add as much as I wanted to each bite made my experience so much better and tastier! You can order everything all together or in sections whenever you are ready. The food buffet is also available in the $30. When I heard there was a soft opening to the new all you can eat, made to order, sushi restaurant, Kanji Sushi, there was no question I was going to visit during the weekend. When you step into Kanji Sushi you walk into a very sleek and modernly designed restaurant. Where you can view the sushi bar where all the magic happens. As you sit and ponder which menu items you'll partake in you can see all the appetizing platters being served to guest. I was actually pretty shocked to see many of the traditional sushi specialty rolls on the menu. Which gives you the opportunity to try some different rolls you may have not had the chance to try before. Kanji offers a small buffet station of wings, egg rolls, general Tso's, and a few other items you can dine on while you wait for your made to order items to arrive. During our visit we decided to stick with the sushi and was pleasantly pleased with all the items we chose. However, Kanji also has hibachi items, fried rice, and noodles dishes you can order as well. We had an awesome time at Kanji Sushi's soft opening and our waitress was super sweet throughout our visit, making sure we got our fill of the different varieties of sushi. I'm very leery about AYCE sushi spots because they're only worth it if the fish is good quality otherwise you're taking a major chance. I'm proud to announce Kanji passed the test! Freshness rating 10/10! Everything on the menu is really included in the AYCE price (starters, sushi, sides, traditional hand rolls, hibachi, teriyaki, speciality rolls) and you get unlimited access to the food bars. I'll be honest and say I did not visit the food bars because that felt pretty overwhelming, everything I wanted was on the menu. But the next time I go, I'll make an effort to check out those offerings. They bring out your plates fairly quick which helped calm my nerves about the service having a 90 minute time limit. If you can't get full in 90 minutes, you're doing it wrong. Compared to General House in Glen Burnie (my fave AYCE sushi place), I'd say their fish quality is shockingly better and they have a lot more menu options however, their sushi options aren't quite as fancy. They use fewer ingredients so their specialty rolls don't really stand out. Side note: They have seating on an elevated patio that is so cute. Our favorite AYCE sushi place in Glen Burnie closed down so we decided to drive 50 min to try Kanji. It's located inside White Marsh Mall. It is spacious and also comes with a seafood/dessert bar. For $30, the AYCE sushi, which they make as you order, were all tasty. They didn't rice bomb as much as some of the other AYCE sushi places. Tbh, I think our highlight was our server. I'd love to see a few more appetizers on the menu and some additional rolls without tempura shrimp, but everything we ordered was solid. We tried it during a late lunch and it was pretty empty. The server (Alexa) was great! She was very attentive and quick. The hot bar was decent. I wish the crab legs were just steamed and not Cajun. First off the service was very slow. I actually had to flag a waiter down just for a water 10-15 mins after being seated. I get that it was a Saturday night but the place seemed under staffed. Where to start? A friend of ours highly recommended this place for sushi. We love sushi. So we were excited to try it. The mall was crowded on Sunday. I was greeted by a smiling greeter, so cute. Got seated at a table right away. Interior of the restaurant was cute. Our server and us had some communication issues. We had a little difficulty understanding one another. I ordered ice tea that was pretty awful. We ordered two appetizers. The edamame was way too salty. The crab Rangoon was crispy and tasty. I ordered the spicy maki combo for $18. Spicy tuna, crab and salmon. My friend ordered the Maki combo for $18. Tuna avocado roll. Salmon avocado roll and California roll. We also ordered the Volcano roll a special roll. Yes, we love sushi. It came out and looked so pretty. But then I noticed my rolls. All of them were minced! Mincing I found out later is a red flag. Some chefs use less superior fish and mince it. The texture was so off putting. It literally made my stomach turn. It didn't help the flavor wasn't great. My friend tasted her sushi and said her sushi wasn't great either. I think we ate maybe 5 pieces total before we gave up out of our tummy's feeling twirly. We had so much leftovers. We didn't keep any of it. My friend gave it to her neighbor who will eat anything. Kanji Sushi is one of the best places I've ordered from, usually via DoorDash. Food always arrives beautiful, smelling amazing, and tasting even better super fresh and flavorful. They clearly put care into their dishes. When I visited for takeout, the experience matched the quality the hostess was extremely sweet and welcoming, with excellent customer service. Everything was fast and perfect. The prices are great for the quality. Everything I've had has been consistently excellent, which is rare. I haven't dined in yet but am already obsessed, definitely a place to try. read more

The photos on Instagram are not representative of the establishment or its quality. The sushi while unlimited, was not of a considerable quality and could be compared to grocery store sushi. Additionally the service was underwhelming, as I had to request several times for a drink/drink refill, wave down my server for the next round of food requests... For the price of roughly 45$ per person, I do not expect michelin level service, but my hard earned money will go elsewhere in the future. read more

This restaurant is amazing!! It's my new favorite sushi restaurant (and I LOVE sushi)! The fish is so fresh and high quality. I've been to non AYCE restaurants with lower quality fish than this. And they have so many different options! My favorite by far is the salmon, but they're all delicious. The service is amazing too. I'm a little shy and I was a little apprehensive about having to flag down a waiter every time I wanted to order another round, but I was pleasantly surprised to find I didn't have to once! The staff is very attentive and pretty much comes over as soon as you finish your plate to ask if you'd like another round. My waitress was so nice and made me feel very welcome! I can't think of a single thing to complain about in my experience. The ambiance is very nice, the decor of the restaurant is pretty and on-theme and it's not too noisy at all. The seating is booths that were very comfortable. I'm sure I will be back again and again. I'm so happy to have a restaurant like this in Baltimore! It's incredible value for money, especially if you're a fan of nigiri like me.
