Decent for the area. Def get your money's worth quantity- wise. It's a little on the salty side for me and the chicken and beef were a little over cooked for my taste. Deal breaker? No. Staff was attentive, restaurant is clean, prices are reasonable. If you like white sauce, they give you a TON with takeout. I opt to get 1 white and 1 ginger sauce. Make sure you ask though. Otherwise, you'll end up with two large white sauces in your bag. Only other gripe is that I wish their menu was a little more extensive. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS LOCATION! The other location by the UPS store is MUCH better. I asked for extra carrots and was charged for them. I had 2 orders of hibachi steak, 1 with extra carrots. They both had the same amount of carrots. Took a picture for proof as this is not the first time this location has done this. I waited until after their dinner rush and called and asked to be able to return and get the carrots I paid for. The girl argued with me about what extra carrots looked like. Then told me I needed a receipt which they didn't give me. She argued that too. I asked again to simply get what I paid for. She went and spoke to a manager she told me and said that was fine I could come and get them. Then I told her it wouldn't be tonight. Then she went back to saying I need a receipt. I asked to speak to the manager. She LAUGHED at me and said he was in the office. I said ok thank you I'd like to speak to him. She laughed again and said she didn't think he would come to the phone. I asked for his name-Raphael-and asked her to tell him there was a customer who would like to speak to him. She laughed again and hung up. This location is trash. Based on our experience the only reason this place is open is because of the large portions and lack of options in this area. Food was low quality, not fresh, cooked poorly and was salty and somehow bland at the same time. Rice was mushy, meat was overcooked vegetables were okay. Not authentic. Soda fountain was not working correctly and was dispensing flat soda. Lots of hand written signs on loose paper, taped to walls and other things. Worst customer service EVER! I have called 3 times to place a take out order and was put on hold for 30 minutes twice. I went to dine in and they would not wipe off a dirty booth table.. They told us they were busy and to sit at another table. All of the booth tabletops were dirty and my elderly mother who has back issues ca not sit in a regular table chair. They told us we would have to stand there and wait. It would have taken them literally 10 seconds to do and both of the ladies there argued with me that would not do it because they were too busy. Unbelievable!!! I will never give them a dime of money again and it is a shame because their food is actually decent. This is the best Japanese restaurant around I have never had a bad experience here. There are two sarkus restaurants in Sanford but this one is by far the best one. The food is great and they give you more than you can eat and the price is unbeatable. The restaurant is always clean and the staff there are very friendly. So glad that a friend told us about this little gem we have been going there for years now. When my family comes to sanford to visit this is where they like to go. Horner location going down hill due to uncaring employees. Their phone doesn't work and says that their "mailbox is full" so I was already annoyed about having to wait instead of just calling in some food and picking it up after a long day at work - ready to go home. I walked in and they completely ignored me. Even the cook saw me, stared and kept walking. I had to be the one to initiate. Finally got their attention, ordered, got home and order was wrong! I have gone to this restaurant twice now. Both times cashiers were extremely rude and we're always preoccupied on their phones or having a side conversation. Food is okay but not the best. Rice is mushy, veggies are greasy, and their meat is over cooked. I also got a side salad which was all lettuce and two small tomatoes cut in half. I love this location. I eat here quite often for lunch, and picked up dinner recently. Would have given them 5 stars if I would have been told over the phone that a shrimp, chicken, and steak plate would be $16.00. I thought that was extremely too much and felt they should already have a meal with all three meats available. They charge you for a shrimp, and steak meal and charge you $4.95 for a side of chicken. I changed the order once I got there, and they were extremely nice and apologetic about the whole situation. I will continue to frequent this location. read more

I used to love getting food from this place. It's not super high-quality, but they give you large portions and it has always been tasty. The last time I ordered from Sarkus, however, was the last time I will ever be able to eat there. I ordered a side of lo mein noodles, really basic. There was a chewed up, dirty FINGERNAIL in my noodles, that i was lucky enough to find by chewing on. They did give my money back, and the poor girl at the counter was really apologetic. I felt bad for her, because obviously she couldn't do much, but there was no owner or manager around to take any kind of responsibility. There was no explanation. It made me feel pretty ill and disgusted. The lunch special can't be beat, it's a great deal. They always give you a lot a lot of food. I have tried the steak, chicken, shrimp and vegetable so all of them. I love the terriyaki because it comes with broccoli. Least favorite was the shrimp but that's because I'm not big on shrimp. But worse, bugs insects and yes the big "C" insects as well!
