Sometimes a restaurant experience just makes you mad. We stopped here for a quick dinner, and chose this place because we had stopped here before, and it was quite good in the past. We both ordered hibachi style chicken. I ordered a side of zucchini. Chicken was hard & rubbery. Vegetables were overcooked, and everything was swimming in a soupy icky sweet sauce. Rice was overcooked & greasy. I asked for ginger sauce & it was waaay more sweet than ginger. Food was just a soupy mess. I would give them one star but the young ladies there were really nice & attentive. We won't stop again. The girl working the register at the front made my visit 5 stars! She said her name was Charlie so THANK YOU CHARLIE!! She provided us with everything we needed and went way beyond expectations. We come here pretty often and know that it's more of a relaxed environment where you can walk to the front for service and most sauces and utensils and things you grab yourself. Charlie greeted us after we sat at our table and brought over sauce, utensils, napkins and our fortune cookies. She then checked on every table, the ones in there before us and the ones who seated after. When we asked for a side plate or extra sauce she got it. Not only did she check on everyone but she continuously did so. Very happy with the service I received tonight and will come back whenever I see she's working! Every time I order here the food is either overcooked or they get the order wrong entirely. I have a carrot allergy and when I asked them to make me a new plate without the carrots, they said I would have to buy a new plate even after I told them about the allergy. One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Sanford. although, this last time the chicken was very dry, I ordered teriyaki but it was more like semi-Teri Rubber.
