I believe this was just personal taste not something wrong with the food. My one complaint was my appetizer and meal came to the table at the same time. Love going to Sakura! I've been here for lunch and dinner! I've done the bento box lunch special, came for just sushi, and also the hibachi dinner! This place is good for ALL double sushi and hibachi needs! It is one of the better ones that I've tasted in NC. These can sometimes be hit or miss and this one is def a hit for me! I love the sushi and enjoy going just to eat sushi most days! My son loves this place because they also offer noodles with the hibachi dinner and not all hibachi places do so! The portion sizes are great and we always have leftovers! The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, I love the decor and lighting. The service is always decent, I never have any issues. On the weekends this place does get a little crowded so if you like an early dinner and prefer not to wait, get there before the 6 o clock hour! Love the menu options! Lots of vegan friendly options and many other menu choices for those wanting something other than rolls. My go to is the AAC (add carrot) and the Avocado roll. This time I tried the Oshinko (pickled radish) and the Mango and Avocado roll (interesting flavors). The service was great - an attentive and kind high school student. The staff are always eager to celebrate birthdays on the hibachi side making this a great space for groups to gather. Sometimes I even sit at the sushi bar and talk to the chefs who are always a pleasure to speak with! The managers are always helpful when needed! Updated 1 year later: still garbage. Steaks will be overcooked and the cuts are not quality nor trimmed. Scallops are routinely overcooked. Basically chewing erasers. They also are never seared. The actual hibachi area where they cook in front of you puts out better food than the kitchen in the back but it's still incredibly low tier. The ingredients are very cheap. read more

Our local sushi spot, clean, close and always a hit for us. The place is always clean and not matter how much the staff changes, they are always efficient and friendly. Very disappointing. Quality has severely decreased. I went there tonight with my daughters. They sat us down immediately & server came and took our order and drinks fairly quick. After we got our salad and soup we waited over 30 minutes at the hibachi table. I finally got up and asked somebody if we could just sit at a table and they bring our food to us. The guy I spoke to told me the printer wasn't working in the kitchen and they didn't realize the tickets weren't printing out so they didn't know they had orders. He reassured me somebody would be out within a couple minutes. Several staff members were sitting in the back corner when we were seated. The cook was actually one of those people. he cooked the food, but didn't do any of the normal tricks or anything and wasn't really interactive with us. We stopped by for lunch on Saturday & were greeted promptly. The service was good & quick. There are really pretty flower blossom trees inside that decorate the restaurant really well. The sushi bar looked like a great place to sit on our next visit. I ordered the bento box & it was a large lunch portion. My fiancé got a side of fried rice & a sushi roll. Started with the sushi coming out while they were cooking the food the guy cooking our food split the food give the couple half of the rice and split the other half between our group of 5 and give my brother like a small portion of rice when he only got meat he give my grandma small portion of everything but the sprimp because no one else wanted it my mom and the couple got chicken him give the couple two big scoops each and give my mom not even a full scoop he didn't talk to us or to anything like they normally do he cooked the food and that's it we were regular customers we will not be coming back it was the worst experience I ever had read more

This restaurant consistently delivers great food, fantastic service, and a fun experience and ambiance. Even on their busiest night, the staff is on the ball--the hostess, wait staff, and cooks are top notch. It's also SAFE for gluten allergies! They cooked my food first on a clean grill with clean utensils so there was no worry about cross contamination, and they used gluten free soy sauce to make sure the food was just as good as the gluten food. I'll definitely be a regular and recommend this place so highly! read more

Excellent service for our group of 6. We sat at hibachi table as they do not have tables to accommodate that many, even though we didn't order for them to cook in front of us. Most of us ordered sushi rolls and they were amazing. Salad with ginger dressing was spot on. Appetizers, nice assortment for everyone's differing tastes. Server was friendly, quick with refills, interacted with us as if he was our friend. We'd hazard a guess it's a fun place in evening with grills running and a good group. The ambience here is probably the best part of the restaurant. Nice to have a restaurant in this area. You can get a menu to order Asian food and sushi, which is what we usually do. You can also go to a section for hibachi grill. Service here is pretty good. Waitress has no issues with making custom changes. Food here is decent where we have come back a number of times. The overall score should be 3.5 stars but no halves posdible so here is the breakdown. 5 stars for ambiance....they have a lively restaurant with these life-sized, lit purple trees that make a really cool date spot. There is a choice between seating at a hibachi table or at a dinner table. 4 stars for the presentation....it was a very mediocre show with the usual volcano, crack an egg, make a mountain of flames show...but it was fun. 3 stars for food quality and portion. They give you an overflowing plate of food that will feed 3 people. Unfortunately, the shrimp tasted powerfully of lemon. The veggies were a bit overdone, and the steak was tough. The chicken was cooked perfectly and tasted good. 2 stars for the sushi...and that's generous. the pictures speak for themselves... This was our first time here and we came for sushi, not hibachi. Didn't have the best experience regarding service and food issues, but the waitress brought the manager in to fix the issues without me asking. The manager listened, apologized, and recognized the mistakes. The nigiri and rolls were hit or miss regarding taste and quality. I did like that they had a good selection of fish options like sweet shrimp, squid, and scallop which are some harder to find options in this area. If only they had sea urchin! I will definitely come back to try this place again and hopefully won't have all the issues we had last time. read more

My son wanted hibachi for his birthday so I was looking for a good place to take him. Usually, we go into town to another establishment; however, I didn't want to go into town and Sakura is much closer. I called to make a reservation since I didn't know what to expect as far as wait times had went just walked in. We were greeted upon entry and were immediately seated at a hibachi table. The ambience of the establishment is very nice, from the lighting to the interior decorations. The areas I saw appeared clean as well. In less than a minute, our waiter came to ask about our drinks followed by our order being taken. The soup and salad were delicious. We ordered shrimp, chicken, steak, and salmon hibachi, and an order of sushi. Our cook was phenomenal and very entertaining. I wish I'd gotten his name because I'd definitely recommend as well as request him the next time we decide to visit here. The portions are huge (which in my opinion makes the prices worth it). My best friend is a fan of the hibachi here, she goes all the time. I tagged along to try the sushi rolls. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. For a restaurant that shares space in a plaza across from Walmart, it was much nicer than I expected. The sushi roll list had many options. I ordered a margarita to help me as I perused the menu. My bff pointed out some martini specials. We ordered those along with sushi. Let me tell you, my head was buzzing in no time. They were delicious, and strong. Being situated outside a military installation, they know how to keep people coming back. The special rolls were huge, and we took home two boxes of leftovers.
