My job consists of being on my feet anywhere from 8-12 hours a day, 5 days a week. I had yet to find a shoe that supported my poor patas until I came to SAS. American made shoes that come at a very high price, but it's definitely worth it and money well spent. They are ridiculously comfortable. I was helped by a wonderful woman named Elizabeth or Liz as she said people call her. She stated she has been working here for 14 years and was very knowledgeable about the shoes. She showed me 2 that gave great arch support and would give my feet some TLC that I could wear for long hours. She was my saving grace! Now I know some people may find these shoes I picked to look old or something your grandma would wear, but I don't care. When it comes to my feet, they need all the support I can get! I also picked out some sandles to wear with my everyday clothes, now that spring is approaching. Don't be deceived because they do have some really cute work shoes if you're not looking for crazy arch support like the pic I'm posting with this review. They do have men's shoes, and an area where you can find old school candy. Want 10 cent sodas or 5 cent popcorn? You'll find it here. If you're lucky, you'll get a free cookie hot and fresh from the oven too. They have so many cute gift items as well and they also cater to diabetics who need special shoes and socks. I enjoy this store more than the other locations because it's more than just a shoe store. You can go shopping for vintage items. Definitely stop by! You won't be disappointed! read more

So I don't go to SAS Shoe Factory and General Store for the shoes. Although I do hear amazing things about them. The General Store is always a weekend hit for us. The store was added in the 70's and filled with antiques to represent craftsmanship and just a place for customers to enjoy. After it burned down in the late nineties it was restored bigger and better. The parking lot is filled with antique cars. The inside is like you stepped back in time. Fully equipped with its own candy store (candy from the 70's and 80's are not hard to find here), ice cream parlor, and knick knacks galore. My favorite it the snack counter. 10 cent icy Cokes 5 cent popcorn and hot roasted peanuts. With pleanty of picnik tables this is a great way to enjoy the afternoon. This is a great place to explore if you're nearby. There are even times you can take a tour of the factory and watch shoes being made. Worth the visit every time! read more

It's like going back in time. Outside in the huge parking lot are a lot of old cars to check out. Inside the general store you will find rows of SAS shoes and merchandise. You can purchase a bag of popcorn for 5 cents, a coke for .10! I mean that is crazy, right! We got a couple of ice cream cones and took pictures all around the store. Lots of antiques and merchandise to see. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A few walk around giving out samples. This a must see place! read more

I've been wearing SAS Men's Side Gore shoes for nearly a decade. After years of suffering from plantar fasciitis and related foot pain for years, after wearing this shoe on a daily basis my feet have been pain free for nine years. I was sure I was a SAS customer for life. Then, I made the mistake of spending $230.00 for a pair of SAS Men's Penny 40 loafers. Less than one year of wearing them 1 day/week on average, bottom layer of the soles started delaminating. I took pictures and emailed them to SAS. They requested I mail them the shoes, which I did (I paid the shipping cost). They had the shoes a couple of weeks and called me to tell me it was "normal wear and tear." Now, the shoes have plenty of normal wear and tear - scuff marks, creased leather, worn heal where my gas peddle foot heel rests on the floor when driving, etc. That is normal wear and tear. The sole of the shoe coming unglued (delaminating) is not wear and tear as far as I'm concerned. It's a bad batch of glue, improper curing of the glue or some type of material or workmanship defect. They told me the best they could do was sell me a new pair for a special price of $99. Why would I want to purchase a pair of shoes even for the "special" price of $99 if I have every reason to believe they are not even going to last a year. It's bad enough I paid $230 the first time for about 50 uses. Why would I be foolish enough to throw away more money? So I told them to forget it and just ship me back my shoes. Now the kicker. They shipped my shoes back but it took another 1-2 weeks to get them, they did not reimburse me for my cost to ship the shoes to them in the first place and, most egregiously, they were returned to me still in disrepair. They had my defective shoes right there in San Antonio in their manufacturing facility and didn't even bother re-gluing them before shipping them back. I'm not sure I could provide worse customer service if I tried to. read more

I can not begin to tell you how bad this company has been to me. First off I had bought a pair of expensive sandals for my mom when we had gone to Texas for a visit. When she actually got around to trying them on we were both shocked by what we had experienced. She went to try them on and struggled a bit to get them on than when she tried to take them off she had to use her shoe stick to try to pry them off her feet. Than her feet were all black and we spent like an hour trying to get the black paint off her feet. The shoes were all sticky and peeling in places. So I called up the company and dealt with an Emily who said since I didn't have my receipt that she'd have to look up the price of the shoes and call me back later that day. When I didn't hear back from her I gave them a call and she said if I pay to have them shipped to her since they were defective and they wanted to see why. She said the company could pay for my shipping costs and give me I think it was $60 for the shoes. Not a mention of an exchange. I thought we paid about double that but since I didn't have the receipt I said okay. Sent them out gave them the original shipping receipt. Did all that than never heard back from them so called a few weeks later. Spoke to a manager who said they got them and were still looking into than they e-mailed me stating they'd refund my shipping and give me the $60 towards another pair of shoes. Since what had already happened my mother told me she doesn't want anymore of there shoes for fear her feet would get stained black again. So I called spoke to the manager who said the same thing so I went online and saw all the shoes were well over $150. I said so I'd have to pay the difference plus shipping. She said yes and that was all that they were willing to do. I explained to her that obviously the shoes were defective so why should I have to pay anything. She explained they discounted that shoe style so I said can she get the ones similar for the $150 she said oh no just $60 worth. So I told her just send them back to me the defective shoes and my shipping costs. Than she was trying to back out of the shipping cost for $8 but I reminded her of all the emails they sent me all mentioning a refund for my shipping costs. Than a month went by and nothing. So I called and Emily tried to avoid my call by having her coworker ask who was calling which they had never done before so I made up a name just to get though. I could tell Emily was shocked I got through and she said she is working on it about 2 weeks later and about 3 months later I got my shipping back. Now I'm stuck with shoes that look even worse now than when I sent them to them because they seemed to have damaged them even more. Save your money by some where else and for less. Our tour group had a fantastic time here. The factory tour was so informative and we had a great guide. Loved the old general store and the 10cent cokes. All the employees went out of their way to make sure our visit was perfect. They gave the tour guide, the driver and one lucky person from the tour a free pair of shoes. Came in for one pair of shoes but the prices were so good that I walked out with 3 pair of shoes. Everyone was very helpful & friendly especially our sales rep Sylvia Torres. The atmosphere was Norman Rockwellish in style. You can snack while shopping on ice cream, popcorn, cookies & old fashion soda pop. I recently bought a pair of SAS shoe for my work. I wore them for around 2 month and my feet hurt badly. It just kept getting worse the longer I wore them. They are definately lack arch support. When I contacted the store I bought them for they encourage me to contact SAS since they say they have a satifation gaurentee. What a joke that was, there customer service sucked all the wanted to do is pass the buck to the store I bought them from. The store can not believe how badly I was treated the manager tried to reason with them but no luck The store however gave me a store credit which they did not have too do. SAS your guarentee was a big joke.
