I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I was asked to pick my color and their were so many options. I like lighter soft shades and to my surprise they had a lot of choice for that. This is the first place where I was taking my time and having a dilemma on what to choose so that was very refreshing. Two technicians did my fingers and toes simultaneously. They also got the massager turned on on my chairs. They did the usual cleaning, nail cutting, filling, pushing the cuticle and all of that. The bonus was they gave me a leg, neck and shoulder massage. The price was very reasonable. They do take a card but I did tip in cash. It's a small place so I recommend calling before going in. My friends and I arrived before multiple other groups, yet our service repeatedly seemed to be placed on the back burner. Clients who arrived well after us were serviced before us and even received apologies for their wait, while we received no acknowledgment or explanation. What was especially upsetting was watching other women have multiple technicians working on them while we continued to wait. Some clients who arrived nearly two hours after us were finished and left before we did. While my nails ultimately looked great, the way we were treated made the experience incredibly uncomfortable. Given the clear difference in how we were treated compared with other clients, I genuinely believe race played a role. As someone who has been a returning customer, it is very unfortunate to leave feeling this way, but I will not be coming back.

She then brought steaming hot water, literally steaming, along with acetone to remove the old gel off. I wasn't paying attention and just put my hands in the bowl and nearly jumped out of my seat. I asked her politely if she could make the water less hot and instead of agreeing, she said "since you have a problem, you can tell her.". Before I could respond, she yelled for the manager/receptionist, who came over immediately and inquired on the issue. I was shocked. No, I didn't want to burn my hands, but I wasn't planning to make it a big deal either. The manager was sweet and explained that the technician was attempting to remove the gel. I told her I was aware, but just simply wanted to water to be less hot. The manager explained this to the tech and she added cold water. See how easy that way? My appointment continued to go from bad to worse. Instead of asking me to turn my hand a certain way, or to lean in, for example, she would yank and pull my hands and arms rudely. I even asked her, "are you having a good day?", and of course, she ignored me. She was rough with the drills, and repeatedly kept nicking, cutting my cuticles and the skin around my finger nails. I even yelled out a bit on one occurrence because 1) it shocked the heck out of me, and 2) it freaking hurt. The other nail tech even looked over, as I think it scared her as well. At that point I said to her, "you need to stop being so rough with me. I'm serious". At that point, it stopped. The end result: My nails were okay. As I was paying, the same manager who was at the front desk asked about my experience and I was honest with her. She seemed embarrassed and thanked me for my honesty. At that moment she recognized me. I've been coming to this nail salon for months, with no issues at all. Im not a complainer and I'm never rude to any technician. I think based on our past interactions she knew I wasn't the problem. She apologized on the technicians behalf, even taking $10 off my total, with I thought was nice. Again, this was the last visit. I refused to let one bad experience prevent me from coming to a great salon, with talented nail techs. Thy is amazing, very sweet, and professional. She did my nails beautifully, and I was done within a half hour. She corrected the shoddy work that was done the last time, and they look amazing. This is why I am rating 5 stars again. That and the fact the other technician isn't my usual experience. Im not sure if she's new, or was having a bad day, but again...that was an outlier on my usual experience here. Now, I don't remember the name of the other technician, but I have a photogenic memory and if I see that she's the person being asked to do my nails, I will kindly ask for someone else and wait.
