I have to start off by saying that while getting my nails done here, this review was being drafted in my mind and I am just now putting my thoughts onto the platform. Basically this place is amazing. It's a completely chill environment, very calm and a decent size. It's not as large as most salons that I have been to in terms of like the amount of chairs that there are but it's definitely one of the nicer ones, I would say. It's worth it. It's a little bit more on the higher end of pricing than what I'm accustomed to paying even though there are some really great nail salons, but I feel like there's a difference between a nail shop and a nail salon. I was taken care of by Kevin- my usual nail place is in SF, however I had time to kill and was in dire need of taking my dip nail set off as a few of my nails broke already. They saw me right away as a walk in on a Friday afternoon and offered tea which was nice. My manicure was done efficiently and done meticulously. I bounce from several different nail salons for several reasons but lately I started looking for a shop that is affordable with great quality.. I hit the holy grail with Corner Nail Bar! They are excellent and definitely my go-to salon! They are so friendly and nice. They offer you a complimentary drink. Depending on the packages you get too, they use different scrubs you can choose from. It feels like a whole mini spa. I ended up getting a classic pedicure in early January, and my toes still look like they were done recently! Also, with being on the corner of a street with a big window, you see some of the action that takes place in Oakland and the ladies will chat with you and make you feel so included in their conversations. The first few sets I've gotten here were some of the longest lasting I had... but the last two sets started popping off after only a week. I'm very disappointed. The nails aren't as chunky as other salons. Felt more natural... I loved that. And the customer service was wonderful. But they're lasting as long as a $20 press on set, for 3x the cost. It's no wonder this nail salon has great reviews because my experience here from start to finish was top tier. If I lived in the area, I would absolutely be back. I was staying at a hotel just down the road for the night and since I had some spare time I thought I would see if I could get a gel pedicure somewhere. I hopped on Yelp and found The Corner Nail Bar, gave them a call, and they said they could fit me in if I could be there in 20 minutes. Score! I made my way there, found paid parking right outside, and was greeted the moment I walked through the door. My nail tech was lovely and was very delicate after I told her I broke my pinky toe just two days prior. She even noticed a scar from a surgery I had and I asked about that, too. The extra care was very much appreciated. I enjoyed the massage chair and cucumber water that I sipped on throughout the pedicure, too. It's little things like that, that can go a long way. The results were fabulous, so fabulous that walking out of the grocery store 3 days later two guys stopped to tell me my toes looked fire, lol. It can't get any better than that. It's been over a week and they still look just as good. I'll also add that the price was extremely reasonable. I have been searching for a go-to nail salon since I moved to the East Bay a few years ago and think that the Corner Nail Bar is the one!!! They are efficient, very detail-oriented, and affordable! They have a very central downtown Oakland location and their set up has large windows, which is great for people watching while getting your services. It was about $70 (w/o tip) for a gel removal, gel manicure and regular pedicure. It's been almost 3 weeks, and there is no chipping at all on my nails. I was in Oakland for my son's travel ball. We had some time to kill and I was desperately in need of a mani. I called here on Saturday morning after breakfast to see if they could take me. The gentleman on the phone was super friendly and assured me he would have someone for me when I came in. I'm not one to write negative reviews especially at a place that was mostly a positive experience... but I'm pretty disappointed with my treatment by the pedicurist here. The host and manicurist were sweethearts and did a phenomenal job, but the pedicurist continually made comments about my feet which at first I thought was her humor, but looking at the state of my feet they definitely seem ill-mannered now. She had to do a lot of work on my feet which I understand could cause frustration, but making me uncomfortable with her comments and over buffing my feet to the point of them bleeding felt a bit targeted. After she finished buffing my feet she showed me how dirty the tool was (which was a result of my self tan) and threw it in the water pretty forcefully. I again, assumed that was a joke because if it wasn't that would be unbelievably rude, but after reevaluating the situation I do think she was just being flat out disrespectful. My nails and toes look great and I had no problems walking out of the salon, but now being the next day I have unnecessary pain in my feet and they look pretty beat up considering I paid for a service to make them look nicer than what they were before read more

The staff was super friendly, the salon itself is clean and bright (personally, I love the people-watching while on the chairs), the music was perrrrrf for a 90's RnB girlie like me, and most importantly, my technician was super careful with the acrylic removal. In response to Johnny L., business owner: I was recommended Gel-X under the claim that it would save time, yet I still spent over 2.5 hours in the salon. This felt like an intentional upsell at the expense of my time. The quality of service was unacceptable. Within a week, both of my thumbnail nails chipped. My friend, whom I referred to your salon, had a nail completely break off within days. That's two customers, two poor experiences, and proof that your work doesn't last. I never mentioned cost, so your attempt to bring it up is irrelevant. If you plan to post my service invoice, let me know--I'll respond accordingly and take appropriate action against this retaliatory breach of confidentiality. Your unprofessionalism is glaring, both in your response and in how you manage this business. Lastly, as I stated, I requested an appointment to remove these poorly done nails so I could get a proper manicure at a competent salon. Fortunately, that salon removed them with far more care than your technicians ever did. Also, if you take a look at your most recent reviews, the pattern is obvious--multiple customers have had bad experiences. Had a great experience at The Corner Nail Bar and will be returning again. I had a gel manicure and the technician was very thorough in removing the cuticles to make my nails clean. I really liked that they buffed my nails by hand instead of using the machine to file down my nails like other places which has made my nails thin and brittle in the past. The polish was applied thoroughly. They had a lot of color options as well and the store was very clean. All the staff were very friendly and chill. Got a gel set. Every finger peeled within a few days. Called to fix and they charged me for it. Basically paid $50 for a gel mani that lasted two weeks. When they fixed it, it immediately started peeling again, and my nails were damaged which I've never had happen. Usually I get gel to make them stronger but for some reason, this was the complete opposite. Not coming here again, and honestly would recommend going down Piedmont Ave if you want to get your nails done. read more

honestly I'm pretty disappointed in the service I received here, this is the first review I've ever given. I paid 160$ for a glow in the dark gel X set & their seasonal pumpkin spice deluxe gel pedicure, I was given the lousiest massage & after paying extra for my cuticles to be trimmed I had hangnails & my cuticles were torn up to say the least. First, I had dip polish removed and then reapplied. After just 4 days the top clear coat started to peel on two nails, and now after 6 days 2 nails have chipped. Normally my dip polish lasts for 5 to 6 weeks. I called the salon (first chance I could, I was told I would have to pay to have them redone because it was outside a 3 day guarantee. Plus, the woman who did them is out for a month and her replacement is only in two days a week (only one that can do dip). Upon arrival, you are to check in if you have an appointment. They ask you to wash your hands first before choosing your colors. After you have chosen your colors and have a style in mind, they guide you to the back where there 4 massage chairs. They are super comfortable and the workers make sure you are well adjusted before starting their magic. My manicurist was May. She was very precise and always asked if it is to my liking - which I appreciate! They also have 3 days policy where if your nail polish is scratched, chipped, or anyway damage, they will fix for free! Additionally, my total with gel removal, French tip gel + 20% tip was $56!
