Parking is in the back which is convenient and the seating is great! The owner was the one who helped us pick our meals! The sandwich wraps were so good and we got some traditional items- authentic taste and food- highly recommend if you want to try a new cuisine or need a quick bite! We were the only ones there and sat inside, it was relatively clean- but the outdoor patio seemed to be where it's at! It is located in a busy intersection so I don't know how it would go for having conversations. And the music inside was a tad bit too loud, but it was bearable. I love chicken shawarma and decided for my bf and I to get some after work one night. I looked up a place nearby and found Sasuns which I'm so happy about. We sat down and gave our orders and although the wait was awhile, the food itself was SO worth it. I believe the wait also had to do with the fact that there were other customers coming in and picking up takeout which shows the business was busy that day we went. The service was extremely slow, it took a very long time for the food to come out. It took nearly 40 mins to get the check. We believe there was only one person working in the restaurant which caused us to wait so long. The food was delicious but due to waiting for so long in the heat, we were slowly feeling sick. I went to website - and clicked the big ORDER NOW button - I went to pick up the food at the time it was supposed to be ready. I see signs of lower cost food on Thursdays. But my food was not discounted. SO I say to owner -why? He says he has no control over online orders and I should have called because he's old school - This was my first time here! And he's telling me I should have done the opposite of what every restaurant these days wants which is order online. 85 dollar bill. I went back and forth with him... he said he can't do anything on website because its essentially not his... He gave me a sticker with his phone number and logo and said call next time... Which really pissed me off... He then tried to make it right by putting in a dessert that I really didn't want... But I understand what he was trying to do... The food came out 10 mins past the time it was supposed to be ready which was from 6:05 to 6:20 - and it got to me about 630. I thought at least this place gets almost 5 stars with over 150 reviews! You Can't mess up the food and still get these ratings... I Get home - Family waiting for the big new dinner place.. We got the pepperoni pizza... Undercooked and cheap mozzarella... bland sauce... no crispy undercarriage... very cheap on how many pepperoni ... My son who devours frozen pizzas... ate a slice and half.. not good. Meatballs and spaghetti - no seasoning, overcooked pasta... probably just sits in a vat all day.. Meatballs borderline warm. Daughter who eats Kraft Mac and cheese ate two bites and closed the lid and excused herself... Greek salad that was 14 dollars - Has wait for it... Mozzarella on it - no feta... Dressing was decent - but it was 90 percent cheap lettuce and a handful of cucumbers and tomatoes and thats all NOT GREEK - Stop acting like it is... ... Probably made salad for 1 dollar. The Chicken and Beef Platter - was chewy chicken and bland beef that felt like it was sitting around all day. The rice was OVERCOOKED and was not edible. The Gyro sandwich had what felt like store bought sauce on it... Mostly tasted like ranch ... The Gyro meat felt like meat that was frozen recently and not fresh. Super soft in a bad way... The free dessert was just ok. Needless to say to spend 85 dollars on this pile of mostly inedible food sucks these days... because this is our one time we get take out a month... Crappy Service by the OWNER! and Horrible food. Do not waste your dinner out here... I don't know what everyone else with 4 and 5 stars is thinking - Because 5 swings and misses (1 more for dessert) is a bad batting score. Once again 85 dollars!! For this meal... What a terrific place! We sat outside on a very comfortable patio above the street, which is MUCH better han a place near a parking lot! The Mediterranean food was delicious! I shared a Zaatar flat bread, a cheese canoe, and an olive and feta canoe! They were all delicious! A friend got the large Mediterranean appetizer platter with kibbeh, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, babaganoush, rice pilaf, and probably more than I can remember. Oh...and a side Greek salad with more kalamata olives than I could count! Everything was delicious! The owner, I assume, Vatche, was delightful. Oh...did I mention the desserts? They have good specials on gyros and shawarma but not the best flavors I have gotten on those items in the area.

On a whim, we decided to try this place as out of towners. It definitely has good authentic food and everything was amazing- the hummus, babaganoush, chicken shwarma. Definitely will check this place out again on our roadtrip to MD. read more

I've passed by Sasuns so many times and decided to give it a shot. There's lots of parking in the back which I didn't know until I pulled up. There's lots of seating source inside as well which I wasn't expecting. The service was fast and attentive by the two gentleman working there. The gyro was delicious but I would've liked it to be packed more. It was good for an almost meal but with something else it should be sufficient. The vegetarian options were plentiful and would say this a good place to eat at of you're vegetarian. The one item I didn't care for on the veggie sample tasted like roasted mashed up peanuts. I've been wanting to check out Sasuns Cafe for awhile. Near the intersection of Redland and Muncaster Mill, they're easy to get to with plenty of parking behind the restaurant and their own patio for outdoor seating. I ordered through Slice which is linked through their website but went to pickup. I think there's more to their menu than what is available on Slice though. There's so much on the menu, but I got the Mutabal (smokey eggplant dip) and Chicken Shawarma platter. It was so much food, so I had it for dinner too. All very tasty. I can see why it's a neighborhood favorite! Will order again but think I'll just call direct cause it would probably be faster... Easier... Better for the restaurant. read more

Wow! An absolute gem. This place has the best Mediterranean food I've had in the DMV area. Mostly due to the feeling of having homemade food as you take your first bite. The rice, chicken and beef kabobs are all made to perfection, tender meat & fluffy rice with vermicelli, or as I call it brown confetti :-) The Arabic coffee & crispy baklava were a delicious motivation to save some good for later. My wife and I have been going to Sasuns now for about 9 months on a somewhat regular basis. We really enjoy the food; it is always very fresh and well presented. The salads are great! We've met the owner, and he is always very welcoming and the cooking staff are excellent and the service is good!We enjoy the owners company and his food! By the way, the deserts are wonderful! This place has their own outdoor seating which is wonderful! We really enjoyed the cheese canoes, definitely pick a few up if you go. In fact, all the savory pastries look delicious! The prices are very reasonable too so you can try a lot. The falafel sandwich was good, but I'm picky about my falafel so I wish it was cooked a little longer. That way, the inside can cook all the way through better. I still think many people would still enjoy this though.
