2025 addendum: Review below is from 2021. Tom decided to replace the coil after diagnosing cylinder misfire without testing it, so I never knew whether it was still good. I should have requested the replaced parts, which other auto repair shops routinely give to customers without them asking. The $120 coil that they installed failed in 2024 (after very little use of the car), and I replaced it with a $13 coil from eBay. For all I know, we paid $457 because of a fouled spark plug. read more

Was passing through town in a road trip when my car broke down on the side of the road. Took a shot in the dark and got it towed here. These guys are the best, they were so kind, squeezed us in when they didn't have to (they were already so busy!) and did a really thorough and quality job. So glad that if I was going to break down on this trip, it was near this place. They went above and beyond in making sure we were safe to hit the road again and we're so thankful! read more

Satchworks has been our first choice for decades, first when Satch was the owner and now with Ben, it's where we take our vehicles when what ails them is more than we can or desire to handle. Today I took our T100 in for a diagnosis of an issue with its power steering, an issue for which I was expecting to hear that the pump had to be replaced. An unscrupulous shop would have done just that. Instead, for a total of $37, Satchworks tightened the belt which drives the pump. That's a bit embarrassing for me but quite the tribute to the honesty of Satchworks. read more

Satch is honest and fast. Didn't even have a CV joint in stock the morning I turned my Subaru Outback in and it was still complete by that afternoon. I'm a big fan of the people at Satch and will trust them as my regular mechanics moving forward read more

My wife had a headlight out on her Subaru Outback so she called Satch Works to get an estimate on replacing it. The receptionist who answered the phone, told her that it should cost $50 to $60 for such a simple procedure so she set up an appointment for the replacement. As it turned out the only problem was that the fuse had blown - Satch Works replaced the fuse and installed another light bulb (my wife had removed the old bulb before taking the car in for the work). The billed total came to $140! - for replacing a $20 light bulb and $1 fuse. When confronted with the original $50 - $60 phone estimate the receptionist stated that she didn't remember that quote! Draw your own conclusions folks. We won't be using Satch Works again! Note - this work was not performed by the original owner of Satch Works who had sold the business to the current owners. read more

This review is for Satch Works in Port Townsend but I can't find them on Yelp. Our engine light started coming on as we were driving from our home in Olympia to Port Townsend for the Acoustic Blues Festival. We were worried because we didn't know any auto repair places there and we didn't want to wait till we got home. We didn't know what the problem was and it was mid-afternoon on a Friday. We found Satch Works and they said to bring the car right in. JJ got to work on it immediately and found we were down to 15% of our oil capacity. He did an oil change for us in record time and showed us how dirty our air filter was. So he changed that, to boot. Miech (pronounced Mika) at the front desk was WONDERFUL!!! He even helped me with navigation on my cell phone! Hah. We wish Satch Works had a location in Olympia. We would switch from where we're going to them in a heartbeat! I have written very few reviews online but I simply had to give a shout out to Ben at SatchWorks Auto Repair. A bad accident had blocked 104 for the rest of the afternoon and evening. I had been stranded in the huge line up of cars for a couple of hours when I noticed there was fluid pouring out from underneath my car. I decided I needed to get the hec out of that line and go back the way I came to find a service station and hopefully find another way back to Sequim, which I had no idea about how to do and the GPS on my phone wasn't working. I was fairly discouraged I would find someplace open since it was just about 6pm. A kind gentleman at the Chevron in Chimicum pointed me down the road to Port Hadlock and Satch Works Auto Repair. I believe they were officially closed but when I came into the office Ben greeted me warmly and asked me how he could help. He was dealing with several cars and customers coming and going but he made the time to look at my vehicle with me , check the fluids, and assure me that what I thought was a leak was very likely the condensation that the air conditioning gave off while I had been sitting for two hours in the hot sun. He proceeded to top off my fluids just to reassure me, drew me a map how to get back to Sequim a different way , and.....did not charge me one dime. In a world where kindness and generosity are sometimes hard to find, Ben had plenty of both for me that day. If you live close to Port Hadlock, I suggest you trust these folks with your vehicle. I've been a loyal customer ever since because every time I need service, they were there to help me. Ben is great to work with. He is very personable and knowledgeable. A couple of years back my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan broke down a few blocks from Satch Works. The vehicle would not drive in any gear, not even in limp mode. So i had the vehicle towed the couple of blocks to Satch Works and they said the transmission had gone out and and it would be nearly $3000 to fix. A while later I got the vehicle back and it had a warranty for a different company in Bremerton. I asked them about this and they said that they send the vehicle to them to get repaired. Well that was the first lie to me, and why they did not tell me in the first place I do not know. Driving around I noticed that the transmission still had one of the quirks that it had previously had, and wondered how this is possible if they rebuilt the transmission as they said. So they said they would look at it again and said it is fine and would not do anything. A while on I was speaking to a 'Master Mechanic' and he had me explained everything that had happened when it went out. Then he asked 'So the vehicle would drive in any gear, not even reverse.' which I told him correct. The vehicle was taken for inspection and I was told that he cannot seen any sign of where the transmission was ever removed. I asked what did he mean by all of this and was told. "If the transmission would have gone out, then Limp Mode or Reverse would have been available. From what I am seeing, the solenoid went out not the transmission." He said I had just paid $3,000 for a $300 issue. I contacted Satch Works about this but they did not care. So their I was out of pocket for thousands, even though he knew I was a single parent and disabled veteran.. Would I ever use Satch Works again, definitely not. read more

They robbed me. Quoted 2300 to rebuild my 4L60 transmission when the 3-4 clutch plates went out--then told me 2880 when I went to pay. Flat crooks. When I complained, the owner bellowed "but then I don't make any money". Avoid at all costs. Oh, they don't do the work there, they send it to someone else. Dishonest people. read more

When my two year old car broke down, the dealership wanted to tow the car to Seattle. Then they told me it would be at least a week before they could get to it. I stopped in at Satch Works, they diagnosed the problem quickly and had it fixed in less than 24 hours. Very reasonable price and excellent work. Thank you!! read more

I just had the transmission in my 2007 Tahoe rebuilt through Satch Works. I called in on a Monday morning and had it towed in that day. The rep, Ben, was very friendly and helpful. He was understanding and very professional on the phone. He quoted $3200 total and that it would be ready Friday. The car was finished Friday night and the total was right on the quote. The car runs great and service through the shop was a breeze. The only reason I did not give them five stars is that $3200 is pretty steep for a rebuild. However, considering the short time frame, and my lack of looking around, it is understandable. I would definitely recommend this shop and will use it again for any future repairs. read more

satch works is awesome! my car wouldn't start unexpectedly, so i called ben at satchworks and got it towed to them the same day. even though my car started once it got off the tow truck, they still ran tests and tried to find the root cause, but were unable. a few days later, my car broke down again. when i called them in a panic, they offered to come retrieve it themselves(as it was less than a mile away and had just been towed a few days prior). of course, with my luck, it started when they got to it. they still ran tests and tried to find anything they could, but couldn't. i picked up my car yesterday, and ben said to keep him updated if the issue happens again. beth and ben are both so incredibly friendly, and make it seem more personable rather than just a business transaction. they will definitely be my go to for any future car issues i come across. read more

Had a strange experience with this shop. I arrived on a Monday morning, it took me 3 trips around the entire building to find the entrance, and even then, it looked like they were closed. There was a young lady seated at a desk who asked what I needed. I was in the midst of explaining that I though I had a dead battery when another customer came in. She immediately turned to him and began to book an appointment for transmission service. When they were done, she went back to whatever she was doing before I arrived. I glanced inside the shop and saw a mechanic standing in the middle of the shop, apparently not doing anything. I told him about my battery needs and he disappeared back inside the shop. He appeared a few minutes later, and said,"We don't have one. Probably can get one for you by next week." I could understand the delay if I drove an exotic car, but I have a 2010 Ford. They just didn't seem to be interested in dealing with customers that day. read more

I took my truck in there and wanted them to complete a tune up, when I picked up the truck I asked how everything looked, and if I could see my old stuff removed from my teuck, the owner began to question why I woild want to see my parts he asked did I kot trust them?
