I'm am so thankful for the Filmore Street Garage! We were in Port Townsend visiting family for the weekend and I ended up needing to replace my timing belt..yikes! Luckily Jordan (front desk) was able to accommodate. I was so thankful!! Jason (mechanic) did such quick work I was able to get the timing belt, water pump (usually suggested when changing timing belt) and an oil change too! It was all reasonably priced and we were back on the road in a short time. I was so impressed with Jordan. Being an out of towner was challenging to not have a vehicle or know where to go. He was very friendly, Gave good suggestions on where to go to eat and shop and even dropped us off & picked us up. I am so thankful to have found them when I did! We are considering making the drive from Seattle To PT to have all our cars worked on here, since this experience was a good one! Thanks Guys read more

Fillmore Garage has been our trusted mechanic since moving to Port Townsend. We've never been happier with any mechanic we've ever had. They are honest, always charge fairly, finish in a timely manner, and patiently explain everything--and they are kind. It looks like the poor reviews are old, sad to say, but our experience is current and they have proven themselves to be consistent in their quality of service to us, hence our high rating. One example: I needed a new key fob and the Subaru dealer wanted to charge over $200, claiming they needed to 'sync' it when the part arrived. Fillmore charged me for the part ($85) and to get it synced they called the dealer who told them how to do it--it turns out you turn the key on and off about 15 times with the door open--really??? And that was going to cost $115? I am grateful for Fillmore's honesty. read more

My Volvo broke down on a road trip, and I had it towed 15 miles into Port Townshend because Fillmore works on Volvos. This was a Sunday, they knew my car was coming, and I went in on Monday to discuss. Later on Monday, we spoke on the phone and I was told it was the fuel pump (a big job on my car's model), but they said they'd take care of it and I'd "be on the road tomorrow". So, I politely waited until 3pm Tuesday to call and check in, and they informed me that not only had we not spoken on Monday (an outright lie), that they couldn't work on my car until Thursday. Meanwhile, I'm stranded in Port Townsend, I have to pay for hotels, etc. I needed to go home. Finally, someone came to get me to drive me home (4+ hours to Portland) and I came back on Saturday to pick up my car. $1275 later, I am driving home. However, my gas gauge is still broken - should have been fixed by the new sending unit along with the fuel pump. Today, a few weeks later, I hear from my trusted mechanic in Portland that Fillmore Garage installed my fuel pump UPSIDE DOWN. This is why the gas gauge was is not working, and I have a semi-faulty pump. A $1275 job and they messed it up. This is bad enough for them to mess up the work, and they treated me like I was a nuisance and a liar. Don't trust this shop. read more

I cannot in good conscience recommend this shop to anyone. I took my truck in for a diagnoses and they called me a while later and said it needed plugs and wires, about a half hour labor and parts. I asked for a ball park estimate on parts cost and they skated around the issue. I asked them to also do an oil change. I heard nothing until the next afternoon when I had to call them to see if my truck was done. When I arrived I was presented with a bill for $475. I was astounded. They had marked up all the parts exhorbitantly and installed additional parts I did not authorize and then charged labor for that. The vehicle is running fairly well - the repair was done well but a significant amount of work not authorized and would be wary this may be a pattern. I am in dispute with them at this writing and they are not so far willing to admit their fault. I would find another shop in Port Townsend. There are others to choose from. DO not trust these guys to be honest with you. read more

I had a mouse nest in my fan, which not only smelled horrible, but prevented my ac/heater from working at full capacity. I also had a loud rattle which I wanted them to look at. A few hours later, not only was the nest gone and the car smelled great because the put a deodorizer in the vent, but the rattle is gone (even though they couldn't figure out what was causing it) and the car feels like a new car. This place is extremely shady. I took my car in to get an oil pan gasket put on and to get the alternator TESTED. I explained that I really wanted the oil pan done because the car was smoking from the engine because of the leaked oil. When they called in a couple hours to tell me my car needed a new alternator and that they could put it in that day. I asked for an estimate which they could not give me because they didn't know how long it would take them. I asked them if I could bring in my own alternator to put in. They said yes. When I brought it in they said that it was the wrong alternator and that they did not have time to do my oil pan that day but would have it done the next. When I had to call them the next day to see if my car was done they said they had ordered an alternator, put it in, marked it WAY up and said "are you ready for the bill?" 475$!!!! Keep in mind that I had previously gotten my transmission done by them as well as my brakes. I went in to pick up my car and asked if my oil pan was done which was responded with "No the oil pan was a really involved job and we did not have the time" I said I had asked for that to be the main thing that was fixed and did not give permission for the alternator after they would not use the one I had. I also stated that the oil pan was a simple enough job for me to do and was told "Why don't you go do that!" Wow! I was also charged for for the dye put in for them, previously locating my oil leak for which I had been told I would not be charged. Terrible! At least they they took some money off the bill after being confronted. read more

My car broke down last summer at a music festival and I spent hours on the phone with a list of mechanics, all of whom were busy and not able to schedule me in a timely matter. When I said to any one of them I thought it was the alternator, and what rig I had, there was a lot of oh man, that's going to be difficult, hard to get to, what year, oh man, this is gonna be expensive. That sort of thing. A friend recommended The Fillmore Street Garage and in desperation I called. Right away Roy said bring it in. When I asked? How about now? Yeah! I brought it in, they looked at it, said it was the alternator, did I want a new one, when can you do it I asked, how about now? I couldn't of had a better experience and I was so happy with them I made a painting of Roy which will someday grace his office. So, I don't know what happened to me that few others seem to have had, but I give the shop a thumbs up and look forward to visiting them this summer, just to say hi. read more
