I had to make the absolutely gut wrenching decision to put my sweet almost 17 year old yorkie down a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately Dr. Tatum was not in that day but Dr. Lewis handled it. I just didn't feel any warmth or compassion from the office staff members at all. Nobody said 'sorry for your loss' or 'she was a good dog' or even looked up from their computers when the euthanasia was complete and I was leaving. I realize that people have to become desensitized to the death of pets when working in the field, however, my dog had been a patient for over 10 years at their office. That was one of the absolute hardest days of my life and nobody was even bothered enough to see a sobbing person and say 'sorry for your loss.' I will miss Dr. Tatum himself but when the time comes to find a new vet, I will be using a different practice. Bottom line: if you're looking for compassionate end of life care, please research this thoroughly as this was unfortunately not my experience with the current staff.

She's great with all of my dogs and their multiple different personalities! Loving, patient, kind, sweet with them. She answers all of my questions, reassures me if I have any concerns. I love the vet techs, front desk staff, etc. * Wanted to add- a response to a previous review about someone's dog being overweight and not liking how it was handled... 3 of my dogs are overweight and Dr. Spence has only been helpful and given me tips on how to get their weight down to their ideal weight range and IT HAS WORKED. Haven't experienced anything like what some of these reviewers have...

On Thursday of last week my bullmastiff began to feel poorly. I wool her to her regular vet where…read moreshe was diagnosed with pancreatitis. The next day I took her back to her vet because she did not improve. I ended up taking her to Rivertown. Dr. Kees treated pancreatitis, dehydration, kidney failure, ran extensive lab diagnostics and xrays. At her suggestion I followed up with my regular vet Monday morning and opted for the ultrasound Dr Kees recommended. The next step was an emergency exploratory surgery, another recommendation from Dr Kees. I documented in my calendar on JULY 26th that my bullmastiff ninja'd her way to the small yellow mango I dropped. She swallowed while before I could stop her. For two weeks I observed for possible blockage. Yesterday we opened her up and found a FOUR MONTH OLD mango seed that partially instructed her small intestines. It's been removed. My dog is improving. I'd like to thank dr Kees and staff for their compassion and dedication to saving my girl. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude. You are my heroes. God bless you all.

The staff was so friendly and the doctor was very patient and explained everything in great detail. The only downside of the visit is the cost but what you have to understand that healthcare, including animal healthcare is not cheap. No one should be expected to work for free especially on a Sunday. I'm grateful to the staff and the vet. We are back home and on a mend now.

But once she got there (I cannot remember her name! She was a younger African American woman) she came to see us right away and pretty much dove right into work. She was extremely helpful and very kind and understanding. She got to work on my shepherd and fixed his paw all up. (He just cut his paw but was bleeding EVERYWHERE) They ended up neutering him too while he was under anesthesia, per our consent of course lol, which was really nice because we wouldn't have even thought to ask! Which really saved us some money in the long run. Everyone in this hospital was very easy and nice to work with in such a stressful situation. And the bill was way less than what I was expecting which is great! I highly recommend this hospital to anyone that needs emergency care

We ended up here because it was a Friday evening at 6pm. W got in, checked in, filled out the forms, paid the visit fee and ten minutes later we were in a room seeing a veterinarian; a VERY YOUNG veterinarian that was very professional and compassionate. Our pup got checked, they took him to get X-rays and was back in no time. No fractures were found so he was given antiinflammatories and pain meds and was sent home; we think he just had a wrong landing. We paid the vet/treatment fee and we were on our way to the hotel an hour later. Definitely not a bad experience at all, everyone was very compassionate, professional and friendly.
