Went in for the first time the other night and fell in love. I told the bartender what i was craving and had a beautiful concoction before me that was amazingly delicious (It wasn't on the menu but ask for the ChiChi) Tulsa's bar scene just got a lot more interesting. 1st encounter with the same jerk of a bartender who served us later on at Arnie's. We tried to ask questions(it was dead) about the business and the area, and were met with contempt and then pointedly ignored when we tried to order another EXPENSIVE drink because he was too busy with 2 buddies at the other end of the bar. There was NO tropical music(someone didn't do their homework, or is just TOO CHEAP to even put a jukebox in there so WE, the CUSTOMERS have some control over our experience) just crappy radio "whatever" & a bartender who HATES his job. Drinks sounded interesting, but I guess the bartender didn't want us to enjoy them. This place isn't worth the gas to get there. For now this place is one of a kind, and a Tulsa treasure. Rum hasn't really gotten its due, and Saturn Room hopes to correct this. I'm giving this place a full five stars because it gets so many things right. However, there's always room for improvement. Drinks: Saturn Room serves as the perfect place to start a night (when you want to treat yourself to a pricey drink before you switch back to beer) or end a night (when you've forgotten all about money). You can't stay all night, the drinks are too sweet and too expensive. I find that a lot of the drinks are flat/without a carbonated ingredient, so it gets too heavy. The 2-4 person bowl drinks are a hoot! I wish they would put two more on the menu! Atmosphere: The decor is sublime. A lot of different seating options-bar, booths, 8 person booths, tables & chairs, patio- it'll fit your party perfectly. The lights are so low, but some of the paint is so bright, it works well, and it photographs well too! The bathroom is awful though. It's painfully bright compared to the bar itself, hot, and humid. read more

The atmosphere of this place will have you in a tropical getaway as soon as you walk through the door. The fantastic staff members are more then willing to help you with their exotic menu. Warning these are specialty drinks so be ready to shell out around 8-10 a drink, but they are worth every cent! read more

Went here last night after The English Beat show at Guthrie Green. If you didn't know this place was here, you would drive by it very easily. I didn't see any signs, just torches. The drinks were good, but not cheap!!! I had the Painkiller. It was good, but there was far too much ice for the $10 it cost. I could see this place filling up with Yuppies south siders and Hipsters real quick! I won't be going back unless I'm with a group and out voted. read more

I spent four evenings at the Saturn Room and tasted all of the tiki cocktails on the menu. Wow! If you want the authentic tiki experience, make a trip to Tulsa's tiki paradise! Great stock of premium rums. If you haven't tried any of Ed Hamilton's fantastic rums, here's your chance. All syrups are made in house. And if you're into coconut cream, it's made from scratch. The menu is a mix of the classics and their own creations. Don't miss their signature Chairman Mao's Revival and take home the mug for a few dollars more. If you love Mezcal, treat yourself to a Smoke on the Water and the Mezcal Daisy. If you want to try something off the menu, they'll mix whatever you like. This was one of our stops that we made as we crawled downtown with the Tulsa Area Single Mingle Facebook group. We hit the Saturn Room around midnight on a Friday. Entering the club is a little interesting, as you have to enter through the alley. We walked in from the North and had to walk almost a block through the alley to get there. Once inside, we were surprised to find the place mostly empty (again, this IS Friday night), and we had our choice of seating. Of course, the first thing we all noticed was the puffer fish lights that hover over each booth, providing very dim lighting. You're also greeted with totem poles that stand guard at the end of each booth. Watch your hair when you enter a booth as the palm tree leaves decorating the top of the booths hangs pretty low. Our waitress gave us a happy greeting and the drink menus. There's was a little moment of sticker shock looking at the prices of drinks. Once the shock passed, we settled on Macadamia Nut Chi-Chi's (Vodka, Macadamia Nut Liquor, Coconut Cream, Pineapple Juice) for the guys and Missionary's Downfall (Rum, Peach Brandy, Mint, Pineapple, Lime Juice, Honey) for the girls. The Chi-Chi's came with fresh flowers in them, and the Downfalls came with so much greenage, we felt guilty not being able to transplant it! The Chi-Chi's were a hit, but the Downfalls were hit and miss. Before we left, we checked out the outdoor patio area which is cool and dog friendly. We agreed that we need to visit this place again soon, so all in all a fun experience. Drink prices keep me from giving the Saturn Room 5 stars, but they are fresh drinks made with fresh ingredients, so keep that in mind when you first gaze upon the menu! read more

I obviously knew it was a tiki bar going in, but I thought there would be a few more options for the non-fruity drinkers who tagged along with friends. The outside patio was nice, but filled up very quickly. I love that there was outside access to the bar and you did not have to go back and forth. The staff was very friendly and tried to help me decide on something that might fit my taste. After reading all the other glowing reviews, I thought this place was a sure bet. Man, was I wrong. Maybe it was an off night (it was a Saturday so I'm hoping not) but the drinks all tasted alike. There was 5 of us and we all ordered about 2 drinks each so we could taste as many as we could. Most of these tasted the same with TONS of ice. They were all pretty tart & some were pretty bitter. The last straw came when I ordered a MaiTai thinking that was safe and it came out made with Tequila! I sent it back and it came right back out (25 minutes later) with Tequila again. After I sent it back the second time, our waitress got mad and sent the manager over to us. He tried to tell me that the rum they use is so special and "earthy" that that is probably what I was tasting... I am a licensed bartender & know my alcohol. I have had many small batch, special, & yes, even "earthy" rums and this was not it. It was simply made with Tequila. I should've known the bartenders weren't up to snuff when I asked for a Tom Collins when I first got there and they asked "Is that made with tonic or soda water?" After the horrible service and drinks we called it a night & went to another bar we knew had a decent staff & bartender. The one bright side of this place is the decor & i'm sure the south Tulsa yuppies will enjoy it once The Saturn Room runs off all the people that actually know what good drinks are. Slow and overpriced. Takes longer to get your drinks just ordered (not talking about getting drinks in your hand, literally just getting the bartender's attention and your order placed) than most downtown restaurants take to get your order taken and delivered, and that's before you try tabbing out. This place is AWESOME. A true tiki bar with black velvet paintings, fishbowl punch, and dead puffer fish hanging from the ceiling. A+ atmosphere. I ordered the Saturn, which comes in a ceramic tiki head. Delicious. I tried all my friend's drinks and they were all amazing. Our visit to the Saturn Room started out a little bumpy, but the finish was excellent. As we walked up to the entrance we noted the busy outdoor seating area, not something I would associate with a tiki bar. But the umbrellas had a thatched grass look (no logos thankfully!) and the woven chairs and tables all fit in, along with several tikis and a bamboo fence. It was a beautiful night in Tulsa, so why not? We went inside, where the atmosphere was clearly put together with care. There were tikis, dim lighting from the float lights, great retro music playing, and even pufferfish lights and a velvet Elvis painting! We selected a booth and soon met our friendly server, who displayed a good knowledge of the drinks and tiki history. Our first drinks, a Mai Tai and a Never Say Die, were just OK...in fact, we eventually sent the Mai Tai back. The second attempt was much better. Our second drinks, a Cobra's Fang and a Jet Pilot, were spot on. The bar stayed busy throughout our visit, but service was great. Several tiki mugs were available for sale, but we purchased two Old Fashioned glasses: one with the house logo and a second with a dragon. We were glad that we changed our travel plans to stop in Tulsa, and we plan to return on next year's trip. read more

I will readily admit that this review is unfair, as I've had several wonderful experiences here. However, on this night, a very drunk couple accosted our table. This was tolerable, but annoying. What turned this into a bad experience was that they became associated with our table and we were subsequently "cut off" after a single round of drinks. Despite our wonderful server coming to our defense, the (dark-hair-bearded) bartender treated us with immense rudeness. I appreciate our server's attempts at amelioriating the situation, but I nonetheless think the bar staff here could use some training in treating customers with respect. No other bar would immediately associate drunk jerks with valuable patrons. As a side note, I'm writing this while still at the bar to emphasize just how sober our party actually is. At the very least, I'd appreciate a sincere apology for how we've been treated tonight by the bar staff. read more
