Great staff, good drinks, a little smokey even though no smoking allowed anymore. Nice neighborhood bar.

Only visible staff was the bartender (owner?). She was a terrific waitress. Love those $4 martinis. Hubby ordered his fav fish & chips, I ordered the "Black & Blue" flatbread. I would have sent back his whole plate. Instead of toasty brown everything was burnt. The black & blue: some great flavor from the cheese, tomatoes, pickled red onion, nonmemorable horseradish sauce, pretty presentation. My opinion, leave off what little steak there is. Adds nothing to the flavor, only some tough chew bites. The crust: I know there's argument here. I'm usually for good char on a pizza (I've had pizza all around Italy). But this was burnt and smelled burnt. Disappointed? Way. We'd wanted to get there for some time. I'm still intrigued by some of their menu items. We may give them another chance and view this as a very off day.

I contacted the restaurant to see if they could acknowledge this special event. The reply Igot was, "...of course, dessert is on us". I thought, how nice. When we arrived at Oren, our table was ready and waiting with a Happy Birthday o the table. And, our menus were specially printed and across the top read: Happy Birthday Ronnie and Allen,, what a lovely touch! Our server, Ava, was wonderful and very attentive, We ordered Caponata, which was probably the best I ever had. We each ordered a salad, I had the Cherry Tomato with goat cheese--delish! We ordered the trout and the short ribs with pasta, also quite yummy. For dessert we had sherbet and the vanilla ice cream sundae. As an added treat, Ava brought us chocolate chip cookies. All and all a wonderful celebratory dinner. I highly recommend

Ambiance reminds me of a fancy place you would find in a larger city. Upscale and minimalistic. Very pleasant. I sat at the bar so unsure about service at a table. Unfortunately, I felt overlooked at the bar, especially since I wasn't drinking. The staff was extremely busy making drinks and I had to get their attention whenever I needed anything. Would recommend making reservations to get a table seat to receive proper service. I ordered the burger with fries. Cooked well but the flavor was nothing special. Will return and try something else!

For my starter I ordered "Our Nice Little Salad" this beauty was crisp, fresh, and had tomatoes that popped in your mouth and bursted with flavor. The in-house croutons had that perfect buttery crunch, spiced pecans added a unique boldness and the homemade ranch was thick and creamy. I will say I had to ask three times for ranch. I just kept waiting. For our main courses we had the bone-in pork chop. Thick, juicy, and properly rested paired with red mashed potatoes.... Which were very good. The seasonal corn - was gone so quick! It was just so delicious. Ate that right up!! The shrimp scampi leaned heavily into garlic and butter in the best possible way. Shrimp were big, tender and juicy. Unfortunately my rotisserie chicken.... was very dry. I kept choking because of that. I was unable to eat it, that was disappointing. As far as atmosphere... very warm lighting, intimate feels, candle lit, steady energy, attentive staff. The dining room hums with laughter and happy customers... but without overtaking the conversation at our table. The volume was comfortable considering it was a full house.

So after surfing the restaurant apps on our phones, we decided on BJ'S Brewhouse, since it was in the direction we were headed. My husband decided on the gluten free chocolate chip pizzookie with vanilla ice cream and BJ'S Wagyu Burger(with lettuce removed) with White Cheddar mash potatoes. I decided on the BJ'S sampler with spinach artichoke dip and boneless honey bbq wings. My dessert choice was the smores pizzookie with vanilla bean ice cream. When we received our order we checked everything and pulled into a spot to have the ice cream and did some people watching while l7atening to tge radio before we headed back to hunker down for the night, while the weather rolls through. I ended up splitting my meal in two parts cause there was so much(so lunch tomorrow) I was kind of disappointed that there was no marinara side for the cheese sticks, or ranch for the wings, and the fact you forgot the utensils when I had requested them. You need to learn to read the order thoroughly, and double check it before your customer comes to pick it up. The little time you take to double check the order and read it thoroughly is the difference between a great experience and a meh experience for you and your customer. You want the great experience every time.

We went on a Thursday afternoon at 4:00, so we didn't expect it to be busy. There were a few people there but not a bunch. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and shown to a booth. Our waitress brought our menus and silverware right behind the hostess. She asked if we knew what we wanted to drink and I ordered Decaf Coffee. My wife deferred to later once she knew what she was going to eat. The coffee arrived a few minutes later and I placed my order for the Belgian Waffle, 2 eggs scrambled, Hash Browns, and 2 Sausage Links. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and a side of biscuits and gravy and regular coffee. First before I forget, I am somewhat of a portly fellow. I carry about 70 pounds more than my doctor likes, and it's all right above my belt. Remember that the hostess put us in a booth, which usually is a challenge for me, because of my extra tire that I carry. But I was pleasantly surprised that this booth was spacious. It had plenty of room for us extra large folks without trying to move the table. The coffee, was good. Remember that I drink decaf coffee, so when I say it was good, thats saying a lot. I even asked the waitress if she had forgotten and brought me regular coffee and she assured me it was decaf. When the food arrived, I was so impressed by how good it looked, I forgot to take a photo, so the attached photo shows what was left when I was full. The waffle was the main thing I was after. I love waffles, and it's hard to find a good waffle. The menu claims they are Belgian Waffles, and I cannot disagree. They tasted like the Belgian Waffles I had in Paris, so I believe they are. The has browns normally don't rate a mention, but these hash browns were soft and not crunchy, and tasted like I expected hash browns to taste, from the first bite to the last. The eggs were scrambled well, which I would have preferred loose, but that's my fault for not specifying. I also ordered link sausage which was cooked as it should be. Next time I'll order bacon. The reason I avoided the bacon is that most places either burn it or leave it partially raw. Based on how the rest of my meal was cooked, I expect the bacon will be cooked right. I'm looking forward to my next visit already.

I'll probably order seafood next time. So exciting that there are actual GF choices! We enjoyed the food but LOVED the staff. The hostess that took our reservation talked to me quite a while about gluten-free and wrote my allergies with our reservation. Our waiter was one of the best waiters we've ever had. If you get a chance sit in Michael's section. He will give you great service and also entertain you for the evening. They ensured we had a great evening and who doesn't want that?
