My husband and I were traveling from out of town and needed a quick stop for some dinner. This place was in a great spot, looked welcoming and seemed like it could be good. Prefecing that reviews we read really highlighted the environment and the good ambiance. I think maybe you come here for beer and not for food in our opinion. Our Experience: First the prices on the menu did not reflect the true price. A bit disappointed in the food quality here. The kitchen sink salad was very obvious a pre bagged salad with a few pieces of chicken added and very old diced tomatoes. My husband got the patty melt and again- a bit disappointed in flavor. He said it tasted like a plain ground beef patty. Lastly, the server seemed to rush us even though we were the only other customer in the restaurant. Right after we ate some of our food, she came over and just held the check out to us. No comment or anything. It was a bit odd. read more

I went to Sauce & Subs tonight and ended up having way more fun than I expected. They had $2 wings and $2 well drinks, which already felt like a win before the food even came out. I ordered the chili cheese hot dog, and it definitely delivered. The dog had a good snap, the bun was soft, and the chili was thick and flavorful without being overly greasy or bland. It was messy in the best way, exactly how a chili cheese dog should be. What really made the night though was karaoke. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, and everyone seemed like they were genuinely there to have a good time. I even did karaoke for the first time in my life, which says a lot about how welcoming the environment felt. I was really excited to try this place since it took over Black Market's old location. I had nachos and a chicken quesadilla. Everything was just okay. Nothing really stood out in particular, but I would be open to giving them another chance. Service was okay, I do believe one of my sauces was omitted though. read more

Been wanting to check out Sauce and Suds for awhile and finally got to try it out. We got there right before happy hour and got some amazing deals on drinks. $2 tallboy pbr's and a bucket of "you call it" beers for $25. This is definitely a happy hour spot if you're tightening up the wallet a little. The vibes were ok, typical sports bar but nothing really unique or setting it apart. It was great to have multiple TVs going with basketball games on. We ordered the mozzarella sticks for the appetizer. The breading was crunchy and the cheese was t h i c c. The marinara dipping sauce was good too. Next we ordered a 12 piece wing (mango habanero and spicy peach) and a smash burger. The smash burger is customizable including the sauces. We ordered the burger with a side of spicy peach and it gave the burger a little kick. The smash burger itself had a soft bun that went along great with the almost crispy smashburger. The wings were good quality too. They had tons of meat on each one and were crispy. The spicy peach sauce would be something I'd do again, it's not too spicy either but super jammy. The wings were swimming in the sauce but i wanted more! The mango habanero were just ok. It hardly tasted like there was any sauce on the wings or maybe it wasn't the most flavorful. Went here last night, the prices were pretty good for what you got, the burger was top notch. Apparently they have a new menu and it was definitely worth trying. Our waitress was super helpful and very sweet and I definitely will be coming back again the next time I'm in Birmingham. Also to note, the music was top notch feel good Motown music and 70s rock. We ordered two sets of 12 wings and spinach artichoke dip. One set of wings was supposed to be with garlic, teriyaki, and mild buffalo- all flats, extra wet, extra crispy. These wings only had buffalo, and some had a hint of garlic (tasted like a plain wing) but they were drums and flats, not extra wet (unless you consider the whole thing of ranch dumped in the bottom of my box the extra wet part) and definitely not extra crispy. We tried calling to tell them this and of course you cannot talk to a person so we chalked it up as a loss. The spinach artichoke dip was the size of a small condiment cup and disappointing as well. Which sucks because we had high hopes based off of previous reviews. We learned our lesson. read more

Okay, where do I start? First of all, the establishment looks very nice clean and you have very friendly customers. The wait staff was pretty good, the one waiter, I don't know that brother's name, but he was more on point than the rest of the people there. I would recommend that when you're making a burger with onions, to either do have it on the list as either raw or cooked and then the presentation wasn't that attractive either. Your beer cheddar sauce needs to be thinned out so it doesn't get really hard. It sets really fast! So that's not a good thing, so probably to thin that out some kind of way by adding milk or something, I don't know. But other than that, I will be revisiting the establishment to try some other things on your menu. Have a great rest of your day and congratulations on your opening. read more

the rating could have been five stars if the bartender wasn't so bad at her job. she's the older lady with long grey hair and smoker voice. on sunday september 28th between 5 pm and 6 pm i sat at the bar for more than fifteen minutes before she said anything to me. a couple of guys sat down maybe five or six minutes after i did and she almost immediately greeted them with menus. then she served them drinks. i have to wait for another ten minutes. she kept walking by me. didn't give me any water. didn't even say hello. finally she walked over to me and i asked if there was mezcal and she rudely snapped no. so i asked for a water and then she asked if i wanted a menu. i took the menu and then sat at a table because the servers were actually paying attention to their customers. and i was so irked with the bartender. i worked open to close every day this past week and all i wanted was good food from this place specifically. the lady with the black and white stripes was such a sweetheart as well as the blonde with the blue shirt. once they realized i hadn't been waited on they were on it and very attentive. i want to give the two of them five stars. however the bartender that was there needs to work on hospitality. cause as of right now she fucking sucks. i'm service industry and would never ignore a customer like that and then give them a half assed greeting fifteen minutes after they sit. read more
