We had a fantastic evening at Saudade and are so glad to see this space thriving again. The new owners, Greg and MeLaina Mincher, previously ran the food operation inside of La Tienda in this same location, and their experience really shows. They've created something special here with a Mediterranean-inspired menu and a warm, European-style atmosphere that honestly reminded us of places we've visited in Europe. We were a party of four and truly enjoyed sharing a wide variety of small plates, which is absolutely the best way to experience this menu. We sampled the Country Terrine Platter, Saudade Mezze Platter, Winter Veg Tart, Saudade Steak, Shrimp Hushpuppies, Fried Eggplant, and the Harissa-Spiced Chicken Wings--and every single dish was outstanding. And I'll be the first to admit, I usually hate eggplant, but the fried eggplant here was absolutely delicious. The steak was tender and flavorful, the hushpuppies were fantastic, and the wings had just the right balance of heat and sweetness. One thing we really appreciated is how accommodating the menu is. One person in our group is vegetarian/pescatarian, another has a very limited diet, and yet we all had plenty of great options to choose from. That's not always easy to find, and Saudade handled it beautifully. We were there on a Wednesday night and enjoyed their 50% off sangria special--so of course we shared a large pitcher, and it was excellent. Not sure if that special always falls on Wednesdays or rotates, so it's worth checking with the restaurant. Service was friendly, attentive, and never rushed, making for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. We're already looking forward to coming back--especially once warmer weather arrives and outdoor dining is in full swing. A wonderful addition to Williamsburg's dining scene. Highly recommend.

This was a highlight of our Williamsburg trip!…read more I made a reservation about a month out and I'm glad I did. It was so busy when we showed up. They asked us if we wanted to wait for a few minutes at the bar while they prepared our table so we ordered a couple of drinks. As soon as we ordered they came to get us. No big deal, we just paid and took our drinks with us. We were sat toward the front of the restaurant, which gave us the perfect people-watching position. Our server stopped by to greet us and said she'd be back. Waters and bread were delivered and she oriented us to the menu. We made our selections of salmon for my husband and short ribs with a side of squash. Everything was delicious. We were happy with our selections and so full when we left. I appreciate that the short ribs are boneless and tender and had the perfect seasoning. I'd eat that dish again anytime!

Everything was incredibly delicious. The entire restaurant is spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained. The staff was very helpful and took the time to explain the menu. We also had espresso martinis--the non-creamy version--which were excellent as well. We will certainly be back for another visit within the month.

Tonight we were a party of 6 and each went with the Five Course Meal selection. One of the best meals to memory. Everyone one pleased with their selections and as I recall every plate was cleared. We had Axel as our server and he was knowledgeable and very efficient. The decor is beautiful throughout. At one point we noticed every table was seated and thought the volume did get elevated at one point it was brought back down to a moderate level. It was a wonderful evening dining together with friends and everyone left satisfied. I'll let my photos do the talking. Check out that Strawberry Cheesecake! Wow We will definitely be back. For starters I got the French onion soup which came out in about 20 minutes. Soup was very solid and had more of a purée taste which was surprisingly good. The pasties especially the chocolate croissants were also delicious. After another 25 minutes the main dishes came out. I got the fillet which came with a peppercorn glaze (amazing!) and crispy potato pie. Fillet was cooked to correct medium rare temperature and tasted delicious! For desert, I got the cheesecake with raspberry! It was really rich and delicious! The raspberry puree provided a nice tart taste to go alongside the sweetness! Staff were very friendly and the service for this entire meal was about an hour thru. A very delicious place restaurant that I'd gladly come back to if I'm in the area! They brought out crackers and spreadable cheese which was a nice surprise. The fresh hot mini rolls were so good with salted butter. Lorna warned us not to eat too many of the snacks before and to save room for dinner. We got salads with blue cheese which was homemade. You can really appreciate a homemade dressing because it was thick and flavorful which made the crisp greens even better. I had a kettle one orange cosmo which was perfect. Not too much alcohol and shaken to perfection. There were many cocktail options and a great selection too of wines to choose from. Hubby tried a Negroni but didn't love it. (Didn't care for the gin) I asked for a different bourbon manhattan and they didn't charge us which was super nice of them. I had my New York strip medium with a baked potato. Hubby got the porterhouse also with baked potato and a side of broccoli. The steaks were cooked exactly how we asked for them. They came with a tray of sour cream, fresh bacon bits and chives for our baked Potatoes. So nice to have that service at the table. We were too full to order dessert, but Lorna brought out a small dish of ice cream a/ brownie and a candle to sing for hubby's birthday. From start to finish, an excellent meal with amazing service and a down home feel.

The service wasn't too bad, but definitely not what we had last year. The espresso martini was really good, but the cosmo is not my thing. The food. I ordered my tuna medium. It was well over cooked. The flavor was there, but it was pretty dry. My lemon had no juice and looked like someone bit it already. The sauce it came with was a bright spot. Couldn't tell you what it was, neither could the waitress, but it was good. The steak was not the best. She likes her steak medium rare and it came out a little undercooked and chewy. It didn't have any flavor. There was no butter/garlic butter or even stalk and pepper to taste. We could hear the waiter behind us telling the other table "watch it's a hot skillet" ours wasn't even warm. The waitress had us use the bread butter and salt and pepper on the table to season it and the butter didn't even fully melt the butter. It was just not the experience we were bragging to people about. If you're going to spend $60 on a steak, this one's not it. Unfortunately at the time I'm writing this we went to a different steak house about 8 mins away. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Will be going there for date night next year.
