My husband and I shared a pizza which was very good. The ceasar salad was also good. My son got shrimp taco and chicken tacos. He said they were both good but the chicken was exceptionally good. My daughter had the crab cake BLT and was very happy with her choice and my other son had the shrimp Po boy. He said it was very good. You can't go wrong here. Water Street Grille was a pretty disappointing experience in all aspects. 1. Our server did not know the type of oysters they were serving. For a seafood item that supposedly sold fresh, I would expect at least a little bit of knowledge... like if the oysters are local, when they were harvested, etc. I also thought the oysters were extremely small. 2. The short rib linguini was flavorless. The short rib was overcooked and it was basically served on top of the linguini. It didn't feel like the linguini was cooked with the sauce. I was not a fan. Found free parking, hopped on the trolly and got off at River Walk at was prime lunch time on the 250th bday of USA. The entire area is a buzz. This place was right there, we walked in and it was pretty crowded but the bar was empty. 30 min outside, 20 min inside, 0 min at bar ... worked for us, could see a little water. Lots of beers on tap (as others said they are pricey for a draft), also have a full bar. Seafood heavy menu, but also has burgers, sammies and pizza. I got a an oyster po boy w/ fries and my Mom got fried shrimp po boy with fries. Bread was fresh, they were nicely dressed and had good flavor. My oysters were huge and delicately fried. We visited Yorktown and we're walking down the river walk when we came up on the Water St., Grill. It was a great location with plenty of patio seating overlooking the river. I noticed a gentleman was wrapping up his meal and had his bill as well as his leftovers boxed up. We walked around to the front of the restaurant and told the hostess that we would like a table for two and that the table, that I pointed at straight out the double doors from the hostess stand, was where we would like to sit. She stated she couldn't guarantee when it would be available and I said that's OK. He's getting ready to pay and we'll sit at the bar and have a drink. About 10 minutes went by and the gentleman finally paid and got up to leave. The same hostess, then proceeded to sit another party at that table. When she came back in, I asked her why she sat that party at the table that I had mentioned we were wanting to sit at. She mentioned that that group had come in and asked for the same table. I asked her why she didn't share that information with me when I had asked for the table that would've given us a chance to either eat at the bar or decide to eat somewhere else. She had no answer. Based on the interaction, which was pleasant, I don't believe she's actually received any real training on how to manage the seating at a restaurant as well as how to communicate with new guest. It was such an odd interaction given that all she needed to tell me was that the table had already been spoken for. As we finished our drinks, the hostess came back and said that the folks that she sat at the table didn't want the table after all, and had moved, and it was now available for us. . We started our meal off with the shrimp appetizer and followed that up with the crabcake sandwich and I had the crabcake meal. The crabcakes were nicely prepared, however they lacked any type of seasoning or flavor. The crabcake entrée was not served with a remoulade, which tends to be a standard and a way for a kitchen to distinguish itself with their crabcakes. Our server was pleasant, but she was not informed about pre-busing a table. With a little bit more training, this staff has an opportunity to exceed and create a wonderful experience. Had lunch here 1st time. Staff was pleasant and service was fast despite being a crowed Sunday. There was about a 30 minute wait for seating (1st available and I was seated inside). I had a club sandwich with fries and the firecracker shrimp. Both were fresh, generous portions and tested good. One gripe is the price of a 12 oz. Draft. The place was right next to the water and you have the option to have indoor or outdoor seating. We opted for outdoor seating which was a small mistake. The view was nice and there were fans in the outdoor seating. There were quite a few seats so it's not guaranteed that you'll get a nice view of the water. There were a lot of fruit flies that we had to fight off because of the outdoor seating and the uneven brick ground made the table wobbly. Our table was also stained which made the whole experience off putting. The place was packed and service was decent for it. We went ahead and got a calamari appetizer, burger, and blackened salmon. Calamari 2/10 It took 40 minutes for this to come out and because of that, the waitress had her manager remove it (it was nice because we didn't ask and she did it!) But, it was very saucy and small. The calamari was the size of my thumb, over cooked and dry, and doused in some sweet sauce that made the breading soggy. Some parts of it were insanely salty and tasted fishy in a bad way. The price for it is $19.99 and not worth it. Burger 5/10 My partner liked the burger and it came with fries. I personally did not like the smokey flavor but it was stacked with toppings. It was pricy for how it was though. $19.99 Blackened salmon 6/10 It comes with a side of seasonal veggies which were Brussels sprouts. The plating was really bad with the sides almost falling off of the plate. The mashed potatoes that came with it were standard and the Brussel sprouts were almost black and soggy. They seemed overcooked but also like they were cooked with too many which led to sogginess. The salmon itself was good- moist and a decent size. For the price, $27.99, it was not worth it. Overall, it's a standard new American restaurant that's overpriced due to the view. The staff is dress very casually for the price with short shorts but they were friendly. I would give it a 2 stars but because the calamari was taken off our bill without us needing to ask, I give it 3. read more

Absolutely loved our visit to Water Street Grille in Yorktown! The waterfront atmosphere, great food, and incredible service made it such a fun experience. Waterstreet Grille was a nice place for a work lunch. They were able to sit all of us outside under their tented patio and the service was great. Our waters were never too low. I got the ahi tuna tacos with fries. The fries were nice and crisp, which went well with the malt vinegar they had. The tacos had a wasabi sauce on them that had a good kick to them. 03/24/2025 Wife I am received vouchers from Marriott vacation club and this is one of the restaurant we could eat at, if we hadn't received them we probably wouldn't have came here so it's a good thing they work with Marriott to get customers with vouchers to come to there restaurants. We actually went to another restaurant with our vouchers a different night. Wife and I came here for the 1/2 price burger night, we both had the bacon burger with crab cake since it was 1/2 off was like buy 1 get 1. The burgers were good but we had the crab cakes put on the side, the crab meat was mostly claw meat. They weren't very good but the burgers were. The place is on the water has a nice view of the river I think in the summer they have outside seating. I would give it another try they also have another restaurant next door that excepts the voucher also. read more

Another great visit. Came with my husband and our toddler. Our daughter loved her kids cheeseburger and fruit. We sat outside and both a beautiful view of the water. We even saw a bunch of dolphins swimming by. Servers were kind and super fast as well as attentive. We ordered the Cuban pork wrap and the tuna BLT. Both were cooked perfectly and sauced well. Not sure we're to start. We asked to be seated inside but the music was very loud so we asked to be moved to the patio. We were seated promptly on the outside patio. The music was still pretty loud. Our server was pleasant. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. My husband ordered a sausage pizza and a beer. I ordered hot honey chicken tacos with a caesar salad and an iced tea. We waited a bit for our food. Our server came over and told us they had burnt my husband's pizza and they were remaking it. He said it was probably ok. So she brought it out to see if he would eat it, he said it was really black, so no he would not. She did bring my salad out as she knew I was very hungry. She said they would remake my tacos so they would not be cold. We finally got the pizza and tacos. I could tell my husband was not happy with the pizza. There was very little sausage, pretty much only in the middle of the pizza. There was lots of crust with no sauce or sausage. The crust was good but the dough was raw in the middle. He ate two pieces and sent the rest back. He asked for a discount, but not free. Our server was very apologetic. Then the manager came over and apologized as well. My tacos and caesar salad were very good! We got our bill and the pizza was taken off the bill. She then said the owner insisted we get a pizza to take home and it was being made. The owner came to our table with two pizzas. One that was ready now and one that we could heat up tomorrow in our oven. We thanked him as we didn't expect anything else. When we got home we each had a piece of the ready pizza. It was good though still a bit lacking in sausage. Overall I'm not sure if we will return. We travel full time by boat and this is our third time in the area and our second time at this restaurant. It's St Pat's weekend where we usually stay in to avoid the Great Green Debauch but today we wanted to go out for fish tacos. Once again mom had a great suggestion to come here to the Water Street Grill. She has been here a few times with my other sister and thought it would be nice if I also got the experience. First, the Grille is right in the heart of Colonial Yorktown...like, right there, in the mix. It sits right at the waters edge, almost under the bridge that crosses The York. It's a cute smallish tavern that seems to welcome you with an open door. We were greeted right away by the host who sat us right at a window. Not on the screened porch but that was fine since it was a rainy day. Almost immediately out server was there to tell us the specials, give us water and then time to peruse. We already knew we were getting tacos but the menu beckoned us onward. Mom got the soup du jou (broccoli cheddar) and I got a house side salad that was gorgeous. We figured since we were getting tacos we'd get beers but the selection of drinks was very tempting. Mom got shrimp tacos and I got the Mahi. We had been soo looking forward to spicy blackened tacos. Sadly, we didn't get that. They were presented very nicely with loads of pico and crema but the fish was pretty bland. I don't think the Mahi was very fresh to be honest. Our server was a sweetheart (again I missed her name!!). She was playful and fun which this place should have. I'm sure she is popular in summer as she is super awesome. The view, the drinks..all wonderful. There is even free parking in a garage across the street. We will be back though to give them another chance. It's just too fun a place. OMG! The best water front restaurant ever! The two children split the kids chicken tenders and fries and said it was delicious! They ate most of it which is significant! The price point was fairly reasonable for the location and our selections. The environment is pleasant but unremarkable, and situated on the York River there are nice views to be had. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. The food came out quickly and the children were served in advance, having time to top off their meal with ice cream.
