Summary: great salon and Taylor is just excellent! She fixed something that seemed really problematic in one single visit and didn't damage my rather fine hair in the process. Bravo! I recently visited Saulino salon for the first time. After enjoying the years of great color, my colorist's salon closed and she moved. After trying another salon multiple times, I got rather disappointed - my previously perfectly neutral dark ash blond base with neutral beige highlights became a hot tan-colored mess with orange-leaning highlights. I was told it was my natural pigment and nothing could be done after months of trying. I was so diheartened that I decided just to do my own color from some box color and promised that I would continue doing so until I find a great colorist. I found Taylor. I was prepared that given the hot mess I had going on, it would take months and months to get to some reasonable point. Not at all! My first visit transformed my hair. She is thoughtful and attentive to detail, she listens and has a great eye. Taylor did a great job and I'm now truly excited about my next hair appointments. When I walked in she saw my scared face and offered me a private room with its own wash station and styling chair, and a beautiful view of palm trees and the ocean. She said. Extremely Disappointed - Poor Service and Horrible Experience I came to Saulino Smith Salon for a keratin treatment after doing thorough research and even having a pour initial consultation with one of their stylists. Right away, I was told that a keratin treatment and a Brazilian blowout are "exactly the same" -- which is simply not true. Thankfully, I was informed and know the difference. When I pushed back, the stylist admitted she didn't know how to perform a keratin treatment and was trying to redirect me toward a Brazilian blowout instead because that was the only product she had and was familiar with. This was misleading and unprofessional. Fortunately, I was passed to another stylist who did perform the keratin treatment. However, the treatment failed almost immediately -- by my second wash, my hair was back to being frizzy and curly, with zero lasting effect. When I contacted the stylist, she initially told me to try using a leave-in product and advised that should fix the issue. I followed her advice and ordered exactly what she recommended, but as I suspected, it didn't help. Still no results. Eventually, after multiple weeks of waiting she said she would redo the treatment -- only to come back two weeks later (after not responding to me that entire time) saying she would charge me for half the service again. This was after I had already paid for a treatment that clearly didn't work the first time. I contacted the salon directly, hoping to speak with the owner. After leaving my contact information, I received NO call back. I had to follow up several times to get a response. When I finally heard back it was with the receptionist, not the owner or manager, and was met with rude, belittling and unprofessional responses when I expressed I was unhappy with my experience and their lack of willingness to make it right. It's very unfortunate that the owner and manager were unwilling to speak with me directly, and used the receptionist as an unprofessional messenger. I spent hours in the salon, only to pay for a service that failed immediately, and the salon has done nothing to take accountability or try to resolve it. What could have been a simple mistake with an easy resolution, has left me with an incredibly bad taste and extremely frustrated. I've never encountered a salon that has refused to take any accountability, stand by their work or correct a service that a stylist performed without results. They were not interested in providing any type of resolution. In my experience, a good salon wants to ensure customers are happy and satisfied. This salon has terrible customer service and clearly doesn't have any interest in building trust to encourage long term client relationships. Saulino Smith, the stylists and owner would rather wipe their hands of the situation and double charge to correct a bad service with NO results. Good luck if you have a problem with a service you get there. Unresponsive, unprofessional, and deeply disappointing. I would absolutely not recommend this salon. Stay far away! read more

EDIT: despite my experience, I do want to commend the salon for immediately addressing what happened. I called the salon after my appointment to express my disappointment and the owner followed up with me hours later. She immediately reimbursed me, gave me a credit for a treatment with my next service, and profusely apologized which I appreciate. It sounds like there was a miscommunication with a former staff member regarding my appointment and nothing that they could have controlled or prevented. I appreciate them addressing my concerns so swiftly - - - I've been coming here for years and have always been very happy with their service but they majorly messed up today and I had to say something. I've been seeing my stylist at Saulino for over 5 years and she's amazing. So when I had a special event planned (family party celebrating my recent wedding), I immediately thought of Saulino Smith Salon to do my hair and didn't even consider a place like a Drybar. I booked this a bit last minute so my normal stylist was already booked, but I trust this salon so much that I figured whoever else I got would be good. I booked a blowout with hot tools online, and I wasn't sure whether or not that included a curling iron, so I called to clarify and the reception said yes. I also asked if my stylist would know how to put in/curl Halo extensions - they said they would talk to her and if there were issues they'd let me know, but it should be fine. I show up today and, not only did they not tell my stylist about the extensions, they didn't even mention the hot tools/curling... so here we are with less than an hour of time to try to figure this all out, on the day of a very special occasion for me, and I was so stressed and upset. I felt bad for my stylist too - it's not her fault that someone didn't communicate to her what I was expecting, we were both thrown off and trying to figure it out. Ultimately, we were not able to figure out the extensions and she did the best she could with my hair with the time she was given. Maybe I should have said this was for a special occasion and that's on me but I didn't think I would need to say that just to get the service I booked and paid for... just wanted a blowout curls and extensions if it was possible. If they had told me ahead of time the extensions weren't doable I would have understood. I would have given no tip as I'm so angry and unhappy with what happened but since it was not my stylist's fault I didn't feel that was fair. But needless to say, really unhappy with how they dropped the ball on this and it's ruined my mood on what is supposed to be a special day for me. read more

Met with her about my need for a hair style that would take me through a formal wedding in Bali as well as adventure travel through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Viet Nam. I made an appointment with Taylor Silva to do my hair a few weeks ago and she did an incredible job! I came in with some prior damage to my hair caused from over processing and she was able put me on the right path to get my hair looking how I want AND getting healthier. She gave me beautiful face framing highlights and under lights that look great when I have my hair up in a ponytail. She also did a fantastic job with my cut, and even a few weeks later it is growing out beautifully!
