For balance, ferments at Min-Hee Hill Garden offer many varieties and sizes. Do stop by and check them out. Music is always interesting and a joy to experience. I had a good time, and would definitely recommend coming here at least once, but I may wait awhile before coming again. Mainly because trying to find parking near this market is insane. That, and I wasn't necessarily blown away by any one particular vendor. I highly suggest coming early or parking a little ways down - since come 6:00pm - Downtown San Rafael is a madhouse. As far as clothing and jewelry vendors - I didn't see too much that stood out to me personally, but it was still fun to browse. The Food vendors were very friendly. I tried a mini vanilla Teeny Cake, which was probably the highlight of my stroll-through. The fruit looked delicious and I loved that so many of the fruit vendors had samples out. White nectarines, peaches, and plums - juicy and perfectly ripe were everywhere. I watched a number of mellow soulful musical performances, before turning the corner and heading to Sol Food for some Mango Iced Tea and plantains. I'm so glad that these early night Farmers Markets exist. It's an incredible way to bring together a diverse group of people in a warm and genuine way. The one thing I do like about this Thursday evening market is the deep discounts that go on close to the 8 p.m. closing time. Linger around, then pounce on those $1/pound nectarines, plums, and peaches. Grab 3 flower bouquets for $10. Get a mess of end of summer/end of night tomatoes. They have the usual fruits and vegetables, an assortment of okay food, live LOUD music on the little square beside Arizmendi Bakery, inflatable jumpy things at one end, and mostly forgettable jewelry/clothes/junque at the other end. No dogs allowed here, even on a leash. You will be stopped, so don't even bother trying.

We were so lucky our Sunday return brought us by this hidden gem before it closed at 5 pm. Not only did it have the delicious pickles it had advertised on a large cardboard sign, but a variety of fruits, vegetables, and kimchi. Beyond the pickles the kimchi was the most enticing to us at the time as we had never tried persimmon kimchi before. The flavor of the kimchi and the persimmon paired well together an combined for the perfect amount of spice and sweet. While we loved the flavor so much that we ate most as a snack, we plan to us the rest as a delicious dinner side dish. The farmer was incredibly friendly and allowed us to try a couple samples to find the right dish for our own personal taste palate. He also informed us that they participate in a farmers market in SF on Sunday mornings. A location I'm sure my husband and I will visit in the near future.

They also sell an assortment of strawberry creations: chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry shortcake, strawberry cheesecake, and Jams. I'm so glad I stopped by I found my new favorite places for strawberry shortcake. Food (10/10) - no complaints here! If you love strawberries, you will definitely love this place. They have so many things to try. I fell in love with the strawberry shortcake. The cheese cake was also good. But ultimately the shortcake won me over. Activities (9/10) - very family friendly. You can hand pick strawberries and then chill in their picnic area. They have a strawberry cut out that you can take pictures with. All in all I think this is a great place to stop by.

One Sunday morning as I strolled past their stall, I picked up this subtle and wonderful fragrance. I took a few steps and looked around, then it hit me, it was the berries. I do not think of strawberries as especially redolent, but this day they were amazing. Of course, I changed direction and bought half a flat of the red beauts. It does not hurt that the sellers have a sense of fun. Just today I asked how it was they still have fresh strawberries in October when most of the other berry growers are gone or selling squash. I learned that the farmers made a pact with the Devil that extends their growing season. I was assured the fruit was unaffected, just the soul's of these wonderful farmers. Talk about devotion...

Last time we came here for Buffalo soft serve and it was replaced by Jersey cow soft serve. I'm a…read moresucker for soft serve so I had to come back to try this. It's better than Strauss. It's a lot thicker and creamier than the Strauss soft serve. I was impressed. I'm glad that they now serve the Jersey cow soft serve because the Buffalo one was pretty boring and too sweet. They no longer serve the Buffalo soft serve because the company was bought out and now they use the Buffalo milk for other items like cheese and no longer sell it for soft serve. Love this little market and if I move to Sausalito, I would be coming here quite often. And not just for the soft serve. They have a lot of very interesting items here. The items are all marked up a bit but otherwise good quality items and the food looks good. I've enjoyed their hot lunch here. All the prepare Foods look good too. I normally go across the street to Joinery for lunch then stroll down here for a soft serve.

It's right behind Villas at Hamilton and in front of the Bay Trail - between hangars 6 and 7. PRODUCE There were just a couple produce booths - one smaller and one bigger (neither was organic from what I could tell) with many samples of berries and stone fruits. I got cherries for $6.50 a basket and "cosmetically imperfect" plums and nectarines for $1.50/lb. My mom got red onions, lettuce, and broccoli (3 veggies for $10) and squash (yellow and zucchini plus a bonus kind given to her). SPECIALTY FOODS There were a handful of specialty food vendors, including Heather Stuckenbroker (Marin Foodies member) with her famous rum cakes (we bought one original and one chocolate - $4 each), as well as an assortment of sweet and savory spreads. From the Butterbars booth, I bought was a Dulce de Leche Butterbar ($4) to bring home to my husband. I also sampled the Ube Cheese and it was very tasty. They have a deal where you can six (one of each flavor) for $16. Auntie O's was there (delicious baked goods), The Juicery, and a few others with savory offerings (Mexican and Middle Eastern), all or most of whom are also at the main Novato farmer's market on Tuesdays. FOOD TRUCKS We got lunch from the two food trucks on site. The first was Lotus Grill Vietnamese Cuisine - run by a delightful local couple. The fresh spring rolls with shrimp and noodles (2 for $7 is a deal) with peanut dipping sauce hit the spot. Next time, I want to try their other menu item - bahn mi sandwich. The other truck was Sojuilla415 - Korean Mexican fusion, so I got two street tacos ($4 each) with bulgogi (steak), which was very flavorful and medium spicy. Their bulgogi fries also sounded tempting ($10 on the reverse side of the specials board) and I'd like to get the Super Burrito. The Roli Roti rotisserie chicken truck was there also. OTHER TIPS If you have CalFresh, there is a booth to exchange Snap benefits for dollars/tokens and they give a $10 bonus. There was also a face painting booth by Party Faces (artist friend who is a pro) and live music - a one man band. Miscellaneous other merchandise booths were there as well - like one with handmade (I think) boutique baby clothes. In one adjacent hangar, a new cafe - Kitchen - has breakfast, lunch, and bakery items. In front of the opposite hangar, there is a large open area with many tables and chairs (some shaded), as well as a lawn. My mom and I enjoyed our lunch there. I hope the market will attract more vendors to match the amount of interested customers - the front parking lot (where the library used to be) was almost full around 11:30.
