If you are coming here for Mead, I would stay away, due to insanely abysmal customer service at the bar. My family of 7 walked all the way over there Saturday the 6th at 3 pm excited to try the famous Mead our friend Cooper told us about. After a long walk, once we got there, there was a pretty large amount of people at the bar. My mom was super excited to try mead, as she is someone who doesn't really like the taste of alcohol but loves honey. My family went over to the bar to wait for the bartenders attention, which took a LONGGG while since he was chatting it up with his friends and ignoring the customers around him. When he finally came over to us, after telling his friends to hold on as he has to "help some people", he asked in a very unwelcoming way, "What do you want?" (Read that in a tone with a ton of attitude. That was it.) When my friend, who is the one who introduced us to mead in the first place mind you, said he didn't appreciate that tone and didn't find it funny, the bartender then proceeded to tell my family to "Get out then." My sweet parents were obviously floored, as was everyone else in my group. Never in my life have I witnessed such appalling customer service. What is ironic is that the friend who was spoken so rudely too was the one who tried to introduce my whole family to mead who could and probably would have been the biggest mead fans. I will not be recommending this place to people for mead and will instead warn against the horrible customer service. Unfortunate, as it is a super cute shop that we spent a lot of time in while waiting around, but that bartender will and already has caused problems for this business.

I know this place from being in Savannah. Yes, they sell honey, creams, and all things bee related. I remember them selling their own mead and having a tasting of three or four of them many years ago in Savannah... so, I thought it would be the same here. Well, that's not the case. If you are into mead, yes, they do sell their own flavors here. However, the bulk of what they sell is from other meaderies. The best part about going here is that you can have a flight from each one! You might want to share that flight with someone else as the flight alone can "bee" a lot of mead. They will do pours of any one that you want to try as well. Bottom line, coming in here you will become a fan of mead too!

This was a very enjoyable stop. Not to mention the air conditioning was absolutely wonderful but the mead tasting was definitely more than I bargained for. Most places that have tasting will give you a flight and you just read along with what you're drinking. The bartender at this establishment took the time to explain each and every glass that she poured. She was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly.

Do yourself a favor and try the mead flight. Every drink is better than the last! Cold and carbonated: they are all perfect for a hot summer day. Emma was amazing! Top notch service and knowledge! We bought a bunch of stuff we tried. Fun fact: mead is all naturals so doesn't give you a hangover! Cheers!

I'm a huge fan of Savannah Bee Company! Every visit is a delight thanks to their friendly and knowledgeable staff. I recently picked up some Charleston Honey for my allergies, and a savvy tip from the honey bar--submerging garlic cloves in it for extra relief--was a pleasant surprise. In my photo, you'll see some of my favorite items: the limited-edition Black Sage Honey, which I love drizzling on chicken, veggies, or even mixing into homemade salad dressings; the ever-popular Oasis Mead that's always in our home; and the lip balm I use daily, available in irresistible scents like Salted Caramel and Rosemary and Lavender. With beautifully arranged products and a new discovery each time, Savannah Bee Company never fails to impress.

This review is for their mead bar in the back! I particularly loved the Pollen Nation, which was so refreshing and I loved the berry taste. Would highly recommend dropping in to try some of their mead. Service was a little slow but recognize that it was a weekend and they were probably swamped.

A cute and welcoming store with all things honey from cosmetics to mead. We stopped in specifically for the mead tasting, which was very fun and a decent price for six pours, but also sampled some honey.

We wandered into the Savannah Bee Company as we were shopping and we're so glad we did. We popped in and sampled a few products like the the body butter, but the real highlight for us was the mead tasting. We sat down at the bar and were given a thorough explanation of the mead, where it comes from, and the flavors that we would be trying. The customer service was awesome and we definitely would've taken some mead home if we weren't flying home the next day. This was the perfect place to stop to enhance our day!

While I don't often review a retail store, this one is worth it. There's a fun selection of honey-related products and you can even sample some honey. I really loved the honey-based lotions. Even better, you can do an in-store mead tasting or mead slushy. There are four different mead tastings you can do and I went with the sparkling mead tasting. The server was very knowledgeable regarding the six mead samples and described each one, along with bringing out the bottle for display (though the mead comes on tap). This was a fun break in my King Street retail therapy excursion.

Honey and more! Walked in and did a last minute mead tasting to which we sampled some meads and learned a bit of history behind the drink. Not only does Savannah offer samples of honey but they got a variety of kinds from local to seasonal goodies. I like the bee wax chap stick and bath + body items. Great spot to get a gift for loved ones or to treat yourself for the next tea time!

Julian is a master behind the mead bar!! I came here for a bachelorette and didn't want to leave. So much fun, he is so entertaining!! We truly just stumbled in and wished we could've stayed all night. You HAVE to come here!

They have some great mead flights at the bar and the store is stocked with products made from honey beyond local honey.

We had no idea until we entered just how far it went; it goes "on & on"! So much history within these buildings. It's one of the oldest public markets in the U.S. Has weathered many storms and has been registered in the National Registry of Historic Places. Established in 1788 (even though the inside entrance stats 1807) & as of today it still stands on the premises of monetary trades & services, as well as shared cultural heritage. There are countess vendors throughout this retail galleria. We enjoyed mainly browsing the works of products that were officially certified as Handmade in Charleston. You won't get tired of looking, but a lot of repeat sellers. It's essentially like a flea market if you will. It was fun, but way too much basket weaving vendors. Was so intriguing to watch the Gullah artistry & understand its importance here, but would have liked to have seen and explored MORE local foods. Wished that they would have had a specific area that was an actual type of wet market/ open-air concept or traditional marketplace that sells fresh, perishable foods like meat, seafood, and produce focusing more on local eats and food heritage of its distinct low country cuisine. There were some food spots, just not what we had envisioned or experiencing with other east coast markets we've been to. Bought a bottled water that was over $5! Other than that, we didn't buy anything else. However, definitely worth a stroll and a unique experience. Perfect touristy spot! *Open daily 9:30 AM-5:30 PM Fri & Saturday Night 6:30 PM -10:30 PM

Dear reader,…read more Charleston City Market is exactly the sort of place that makes casual browsing turn into a full-fledged expedition. It is full of jewelry, handmade gifts, local art, and all manner of treasures, and so many visitors seem to love the same thing: the sheer variety and the chance to find something that actually feels special rather than mass-produced. That absolutely tracked for us. The Market itself has been a Charleston staple for over 200 years, and it still feels lively, local, and full of character. What really stood out for me was an artist who went by Andy, who had a collection of pop art vinyl records that was genuinely fantastic. Using mixed media, he created pieces featuring different singers, musicians, and bands on old vinyl records, which felt both clever and beautifully done. I chose an amazing Mary J. Blige piece that was also hand-painted, and I was absolutely thrilled with it. The value of your dollar was VERY worth getting one (or more)! Cash only! Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable wander and a very good place to find art, gifts, and a few things you did not know you needed. I would happily go back.
