Loved this place! We all shopped around leisurely tasting spiced items and flavored sugars. The place was not full despite it being the Labor Day weekend. This is the perfect place to pick up a gift or treat yourself to something interesting. There was a lot of tea! But also a counter of flavored sugars, lots of spices, a wall of peppers, and gift sets. I liked that the spices were in various containers so if you wanted a plastic pouch or a classic glass jar you had the choice. Service was outstanding. They offered tastings and ideas on how to use different items. They have quantity discounts in case you want to stock up!

Large selections of spices and teas. It was overwhelming, but the two ladies were very helpful with suggestions. Shopping was enjoyable. Bought several different teas and spices. Was told they will ship purchases also. Very appt with tRia experience.

I walked in to this store recently, just for the smell of it. If a spice or tea isn't sold here, it probably doesn't exist. I mean, it might, but do you really need it? Each wall is covered with perfectly labeled jars with appropriate portions for you to buy of each item. There are also tools of the trade for sale here too (loose leaf tea dipper balls, mortar and pestles, salt blocks for cooking and / or licking, and too many other things to describe or recall from memory. Samples are often provided in the back (but don't get greedy) and it's nice to try before you buy. They even have fresh brewed hibiscus tea for you to sample and wash the other freebies down with. If you're anywhere near the market, you have to make a stop over here ... pick up a tea bag, a shaker of salt, or walk in with no intentions, just for the smell of it.

Sooooo many options at this location. I visited this store as part of a food walking tour. I really liked the truffle garlic seasoning and bought some to take home.

A wonderful shop downtown off the market that specializes in spices and teas. Salts, peppers, spices, and loose leaf teas are here for you to find. Sounds simple, but they have a huge selection that you will be overwhelmed. We usually will pick out a blend to use at home for grilling out, I especially like the coffee blends for steaks. They offer different sizes to purchase, I like the smaller bags more thus you can try it and if you like it buy the bigger size. Though we have a favorite for salmon and have bought the jar size before. Great place to pick up gifts too, just look around they usually have them already packaged to sell, or just make your own. Service is nice and friendly. But I agree with others, the prices are a little high.

Just a few of the things from my haul...

I love specialty shops but I'm always worried about "specialty" prices but this store is very affordable and it has a very welcoming atmosphere where you can smell everything (and I mean everything!!) before you buy it. They even have a few food and tea samples out to give you an idea of how the spices are going to taste. This place is awesome, I wish they had one back home because I want to experiment with ALL of their flavors!! Btw, Hickory Smoked Sea Salt smells like a delicious camp fire!

For years we have patronized this shop just off the Market downtown. Spices, herbs, and teas are only the beginning. Also to be found are rubs, blends, grains, oils, extracts, and accessories. Elevate your cooking with the finest, and sometimes the hardest to find ingredients.

The Spice & Tea Exchange has any type of spice one could ever want or need. I like be able to try and smell all the different spices.

If you're like me and cook for yourself a lot, this place is great. They offer a huge variety of seasonings from taco to everything bagel and have many plain spices like cumin or chili powder as well. They also have 2 whole shelves dedicated to flavored salt and sugar. The tea selection was kind of weak compared to all the seasonings, but they still had some interesting ones. This place is definitely worth a pop into if you're ever in Charleston.

My favorite.. As you can see, it's almost gone

Since it's owned by the same Hall family behind Hall's Chophouse, we were excited to give it a try. We had reservations but asked if we could sit at the bar instead, which ended up being a great choice. Our bartender was incredibly sweet and helpful when it came to choosing what to order and made us feel welcome from the start. There was also live music that night, which my husband was especially excited about since they were playing 80s covers. The menu focuses on Lowcountry cuisine, and everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the clams and then shared the pork chop and BBQ tuna. Every dish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The cocktails were smooth, well made, and paired perfectly with the meal. To make the evening even more special, our bartender brought us two glasses of bubbles to celebrate my birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Great food, great drinks, live music, and genuinely excellent service. It was the perfect way to kick off our Charleston trip. Also I forgot to mention that the shrimp and grits here are supposed to be the best in town!

We were staying at the Meeting House Inn so were able to easily and leisurely walk to lunch and dinner. Service was excellent, true Southern hospitality, and the restaurant is adorable. Food was amazing, each of the four of us loved our dish and tasted each others as well: - shrimp and grits - 5/5, plentiful and plump shrimp with a flavorful sauce over creamy grits. This was not my dish so I only got a taste and next time we go back I'm going to get this for myself! - grilled salmon sald - 5*5, arugula, couscous, dried fruit, pine nuts, feta, lemon shallot vinaigrette (this dressing is so delicoius! I want the recipe!), two of us ordered this one and again, i got a bite and want to order this for myself next time (see the problem here?) The combination of flavors and textures was amazing. Rave reviews from all. - scallops or was it special flounder - 4/5, I can't even remember what I ordered and the fact that I cannot quite remember it but distinctly remember my friends' lunches means I did not order the right dish! It was solid but not something to write home about (or on Yelp about) - corn muffins - 5*5, i'm pretty sure the corn muffins came as the "bread" for the table and they were so yummy! Our server heard me rave about the not too sweet, moist yet with a nice crumb muffins, and asked if I wanted the recipe, to which I said Yes! I look forward to going back next time I'm in Charleston!
