We had a delicious breakfast outside at this lovely coffee shop. The dogs on the patio are also kind of a highlight. Espresso, muffins and croissants are all perfect. Only complaint is that the scones tend toward the sweet rather than savory. read more

I seldom write bad reviews but this dish and the person who made it deserves it. It was 10:30am, SCR is a coffee shop but has an extensive food menu. It was somewhat crowded with locals and the reviews good. I mentioned the time because it's an awkward eating time. The Low Country Mac&Chz sounded great. The only thing appealing about this dish was the fresh Thyme on top! The chicken had to be 2 to 3 days old. Its a good thing they pre-sliced it because my cutlery couldn't. The macaroni was only warm with hot spots, indicating it had been microwaved. The collards cold and needed salt. After 3 bites I gave up and took it to the dirty dish bin, as instructed by the COVID guidelines written on my table number. I ordered a latte tho they must have forgotten the espresso and it was barley luke warm. I also asked for crispy bacon as my egg side (eggs were great) and the bacon was literally raw even on the 2nd attempt. My husband ordered a hot coffee that came iced.... I did like the eggs but my 9 year old got an egg and cheese and one should know the eggs are loaded with green onions, not listed on the menu so he didn't eat either. We greatly enjoyed Savannah Coffee Roasters. I'm not a crazy coffee snob but their cold brew was some of the best I've had! They have a good selection of breakfast sandwiches as well as pastries for breakfast. I got the egg and Turkey sausage sandwich on the bagel. It was only $5 so was a super good deal. We also came back the same day for lunch because we enjoyed it so much. They have sandwiches and salads. I got the spinach quiche and it was so good. It had a puff pastry crust around it and had pine nuts which was a super tasty addition. Would totally recommend for both breakfast and lunch. They have a good number of outdoor dining tables as well. You just order at the counter, get a number for your table and they bring your food out. A little out of the way...only because I chose to walk everywhere I went while in Savannah. When I ordered a bag of coffee beans, the girl at the register wasn't familiar with the blend I ordered and informed me they didn't have it. I pulled it up on the website and she was like "oh, I forgot about that". LOL. Then it was given to me ground instead of whole beans...BUT, the gentleman roasting the coffee was super friendly and extremely helpful!! He made sure I walked out with whole bean coffee. Jesus. Go, Really, go and get the Egglethorpe Breakfast Sandwich. It's a measly $6 but it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had in my life. I ache for this! Waffle Biscuit with scrambled eggs, smoked gouda cheese, spicy pork sausage and onion jam. There are not enough sandwiches with waffle biscuits. The eggs are so gently scrambled, fluffy, silky, there is not a spot of brown on them but they are not runny and held together- the chef has some serious talent and he was working hard that morning with the big crowd that was there. The pork sausage had so much flavor, such great quality, and the onion jam added a decadent sweetness, while the smoked gouda was just over the top amazing. I mean...this was my last meal before leaving for the airport. I was in such a rush I ate this, and my coffee, while walking back to get my luggage ready and was humming and doing little head bobs of happiness the entire way back. I also got the Liberty St. Breakfast Sandwich for $5: Applewood smoked bacon with scrambled eggs and cheese on a croissant. This was my airplane sandwich and it was good even at room tempurature. But the star is really Egglethorpe, don't play games. Service was sweet and friendly as all get out, and the space is large and lovely. I am a new member of the Savannah Striders Track Club, and we meet here every Sunday morning. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about the Savannah Coffee Roasters. The staff is phenomenal. We are a large group of runners and walkers, and bombard them at 8:00 AM on the dot every Sunday. They are so welcoming week after week, and know how to get each of us through the line quickly and efficiently. My order is consistently correct. Yes they move us through the line fast, but they never rush anyone. I don't come here for the service alone, but for the coffee too of course! It is hot a fresh each week. Even their iced coffee is great. I have not tried a full breakfast here yet, but have snacked on a pastry or a cookie here and there. I am always amazed with how fresh and tasty the pastries are. The cafe is always sparkling clean, and there are plenty of tables available for non-striders who brave the Sunday morning rush. Savannah Coffee Roasters is genuinely my favorite coffee shop in town. The baristas are great and the coffee is amazing. They even play great music, and it's overall a great environment to hang out in or do work. However, as anyone with allergies knows: allergies suck. I just want to enjoy a pastry every once in a while without being made to feel like a burden for asking about ingredients. I have a corn allergy and any time I ask about pastry ingredients they're incredibly cryptic and it takes about 3 back and forth interactions between baristas and the chefs/bakers to get a clear answer, if I even get one at all. Corn makes up a myriad of common baking ingredients (flours, oils, powders, etc.) and bakers/chefs are often unaware of this. I could never expect them to be, which is why I like to check ingredients myself to make things easier for everyone involved. But somehow, they "don't know" what ingredients they use and will still assure me that food doesn't have corn in it when I have no way of confirming this for myself. 99% percent of the time that someone tells me that food doesn't have corn in it, they are wrong. I don't expect people to accommodate me everywhere I go and I never bother to ask when places are busy or when baristas are in the middle of a task, but when something as straightforward as a full ingredients list is requested it should be accessible, rather than having the blanket statements of "we just use a muffin mix" or simply "the chef isn't really a recipe person" thrown at me. read more

Phenomenal coffee shop and bakery (with menu) in Savannah, GA! We passed by this shop multiple times and decided to visit for breakfast on a morning we didn't have plans. Oh how we wished we had made this part of our daily routine while in Savannah! We made the most of it, visiting twice the same day, once for coffee/breakfast and later for coffee again and dessert. Their coffee is amazing quality. You can purchase coffee beans to brew at home, along with tons of other items to include the large burlap sacks that once held their coffee beans. In addition to coffee, I tried a french croissant breakfast sandwich (that I still think about) and later an enormous slice of perfectly textured pavlova (an Australian dessert). Savannah Coffee Roasters has been in business since 1909 so it's gotta be doing something right! It's a beautiful shop with a rustic brick interior that has a French cafe feeling to it somehow. It's set away from the busier and more touristy part of Savannah which was a nice reprieve. Highly recommend. Street parking only with nearby parking garage. read more

We came by to try some coffee from all the reviews. First of our self guided coffee crawl stops around Savannah. This is a very large coffee shop with many people working. It is decorated with great signs and large displays. You are ushered through a line and order taken and then given to you. I did not find it very personable. I did see one barista talking about coffees with another customer which was interesting. There are many tables around and areas to gather with groups. We shared a iced cafe mocha and a pastry much like a Boston cream doughnut. Both were ok but not great. Our journey will continue. read more

Lots of space to work and super hot espresso. Just wish they had more gluten-free treats! I'm on a tour of Savannah's coffee houses looking for great places to get that caffeine fix while I work. I stopped in here on a Monday morning. I grabbed a table by the fireplace; perfect for a cold fall morning. I waited for a bit because there was a bit of a queue. Lots of tourists were stopping in it seems. I chose the (Cafe) con leche thinking it would be a little sweet. I watched the barista "clean" the the instruments (but not really). Not only is the food delicious. We actually met the owner, Laurie, who is an AMAZING lady. Nice coffee bar. Wide selection of coffee and tea, with decent music, not too loud. The coffee is decent as is the tea. The pastries are nothing to write home about, but they have calories and are great for the person who needs to study and is in a hurry. It has a variety of seating options from four person table tops to cubbies for more intimate discussions, to living room arrangements of couches and deep reading chairs (where you can read shallow nonsense too I'm sure). There is WiFi and that will mollify some harsher critics I'm sure. read more
