Savaya is for people who loooove coffee. Their menu is very in depth in terms of flavor profiles and the origin of their beans. It was a bit over my head in terms of coffee knowledge, but I can see why people love it. The barista answered all of my questions clearly, which was nice. Their 16oz drinks come with 4 shots, so you get more bang for your buck caffeine-wise for a similar price of other shops. But their pastries taste like bake sale-quality treats (without the inexpensive bake sale price tag), not something professionally made. Tucson coffee shops (largely aided by Houlden's Rise Above, who is a wizard) are building a reputation for stellar pastries, which makes these stand out in a not so positive way. I still love this place, but often when I've needed to grab a snack after several hours of working I find myself going to Honey Baked next door rather than buy one of their homemade options. read more

We recently went back to work in office and my coworker found this coffee shop near our job site. We needed a pick-me-up on a Monday afternoon. I placed our order online (suggested by my coworker) and it was ready in about 20-25 minutes. When I arrived, there were only 2 customers doing their thing in the small shop. There were about 5-6 tables. The variety of flavors you can add to your latte or iced coffee drinks is vast! I ordered a large, hot latte with lavender honey flavor. It was delicious! Perfect coffee strength & not overly sweet. Great first impression! My coworker ordered a large sugar free vanilla latte and she said it was very good. They also offer ground coffee to brew at home. This is gourmet coffee and although I cannot afford to come here every day, I will be returning on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I visited this shop with my friend around 3PM on a Wednesday, and there maybe two other people there. The barista, I've forgotten her name, was so chill and inviting. I saw that they had a slow drip cold coffee tower that was currently brewing coffee and made a comment like, wow, you serve this? And she let me try the coffee. My friend and I had come in to try some coffee beans. When my friend was asking about the Aeropress, she was so accommodating and knowledgeable. She went ahead and ground and brewed the coffee via aeropress. We asked about the Kafette (Turkish coffee) and she let us try that as well. She didn't charge us for the coffee we sampled, just the two cups we ordered. We left feeling really impressed by the variety of coffee brewing methods they actually practiced and the extremely friendly and patient service from the barista. As a New Savayan I was impressed with the relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and top quality products here at Savaya Coffee Market. I know that I am a New Savayan because we were chatting and as someone was leaving they waved back at us and called out "Goodbye New Savayans!" I have most certainly been tagged with labels less complimentary than "New Savayan." Savaya Coffee Market makes toddy (cold brewed) coffee. If you have never tried it you should. Cold brewing extracts all the wonderful flavor and (more) caffeine than hot water brewing or steam (espresso) brewing. It does not however, extract the acids that are common in hot brewed coffee. Smooth, mild, non-acidic coffee. Yum. As a bonus, the great folks at Savaya will make drinks for you with Toddy rather than espresso - try it and you may never go back. Savaya roasts coffee on site in small batches so that anything you buy (beans or brewed) was fresh coffee beans as early as that very morning! I'm in Tucson every 4-6 weeks or so. I am making a personal commitment to visit Savaya whenever I'm in town. read more

I give Savaya Coffee Market, overall as a business, 4/5. I have been to their 2 other locations and prefer those over this one, mostly due to space. Savaya Coffee Market continues to promote sustainable, environmentally conscious coffee and a large breadth of knowledge when it comes to taste, quality and roast of the beans. They serve coffee in many forms, from the classic drip to "science coffee" and even turkish. They also serve lattes, americanos, etc. if that's more your style. Most of my interaction with staff has been great, but when I came here on the one occasion, the man behind the counter was a little abrasive towards me. Otherwise, the staff are all very friendly and knowledge, giving great recommendations and explanations of flavor profiles of the different roasts they offer and there are daily brews that you can try. Like I mentioned earlier, the main downside of this specific location is the space. I feel very crammed since it's a narrow space, with two tables squished near their 1 bathroom in the back. There are several tables and seats adjacent to the one wall and some seats at the counter. There are a couple outlet plugs, but not many. I would recommend coming here to chat with a friend or more of a grab and go, since it's hit or miss when it comes to available seating. Overall, for a little extra cost, Savaya serves quality coffee roasts with great tastes! read more

I had very poor service with a truly awful latte on the side. The barista greeted me immediately when I walked in. Good start. I ordered a latte, and pulled cash out of my purse. He acknowledged the order but then turned back and finished two other drinks. This world be fine if he took my money, or finished their order before he took my order. As it was, I was left standing at the counter for 5 whole minutes waiting for him to get back to my order. The other customers for coffee served in real mugs. Mine was served in a to go cup. He didn't even ask if I was staying in or leaving. I took the coffee and at down, enjoying the peace and quiet on a Sunday morning. And then it hit me... The should not be that much peace and quiet in a coffee shop at 10am on a weekend. Sorry Savaya. I needed to find a coffee place before the morning start of 2 very important days and this place was excellent. They open at 7am which was perfect timing for me. I was not expecting much walking into a place like this but the evening prior, I spent some time talking to the evening employee and was surprised to see all the various types of coffee they have. Especially the cat poo coffee (Kopi Luwak) and Jamaican Blue Mountain!! I've tried both and knew that both were quite expensive so was very surprised to see it at this store. I wish my stay was longer because I would have loved to try it in their store and to hopefully see the original packaging especially for the Kopi Luwak because I've heard of "fakes" out there. The following morning I came here and ordered one of the beans I haven't tried yet and they were nice enough to fill up my contigo thermos without extra charge. I appreciate that small but meaningful gesture. I again came back the morning after that and tried a different coffee. Both selections were excellent (Kenya and Dom Rep). This place is definitely for hard core coffee drinkers and even if you're not, a great place to try something different and to introduce yourself to a little bit of the world of coffee. It's really hard to find a nice, quiet (but not too quiet) study spot these days due to COVID. Even the library kicks you out after an hour. I'm so happy I found this cute little spot. I came in and grabbed one of their herbal teas (caramelized pear, which was awesome), set up my computer, and stayed for over 2 hours. It smells amazing, the atmosphere is really nice, and the ambient music is perfect for studying. The barista was awesome as well, he made great recommendations and he let me sit and enjoy my tea and study time with no pressure to check out until I was ready to leave. He never seemed nervous that I would walk out and forget to pay. It's nice to be treated like an adult. I'm not even a coffee person, but this place is a gem. read more

Different from the big coffee chains. They roast the coffee themselves, so its really fresh. I had a mocha latte, very good. There is only seating for 18-20 people, but it wasn't busy, so that was not an issue. There was only one Barista, so it took a few extra minutes to get my order, even with the small customer load. However, they are very friendly and the coffee is awesome! Their prices are fair. Everything is $2, $3, or $4 dollars, depending on what drink you order. There is only one size choice, about the same as a Starbucks grande size. They had music playing, but not as loud as the others guys do. There is a very mellow vibe to this place. I am finally venturing in to reviewing coffee shops. I used to review only restaurants but have decided to broaden my horizons. Although I've been to cooler, dare I say hipper cafes, Savaya serves the best espresso I have ever had. Hands down. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! I have come here for almost as long as I have lived in Tucson. After moving here from NYC, I was desperately in search for a good coffee shop where I could spend afternoons working. After trying several shops closer to where I live, including Black Crown, Cartel on Campbell, Crave, and a few others, Savaya has become my favorite and worth the 10-15 minute drive. Not only is the coffee at Savaya always a hit, but the place itself is also very cheerful. The cool furniture and world map showing the different regions where coffee is imported from create a fun environment to hang out in both for work and fun. The newly renovated chalkboard menu also adds a fun touch and the staff are more than friendly and extremely knowledgable about coffee. The two things I love the most about Savaya is that the music is never so loud that I can hear it through my headphones and that the staff treat you like one of their own-- I often spend 4-5 hours there and they let me check out at the end, trusting me to pay my tab before I leave each time. My favorites are definitely the science coffee and the kaffette. If you've never heard of them, you should definitely give them a chance! read more

They have a rotating selection of the house roasts on brew for $2 per cup. Prices for beans range from $10 to over $60 per pound. He has a wide variety of African, Pacific Island and Latin American beans.
