I've been shopping at this location since it was, I believe Lucky's. It was always my go to store in the past. Due to several negative interactions I stopped shopping there and started shopping Safeway. Recently, I decided to give this store another chance. My first two shopping trips it felt like the old Raley's. Everyone was friendly and I was able to find what I needed easily. This evening I came in and felt like a criminal. The security guard was following me through the store as well as an associate. I tried to not over think it and continued my shopping. I proceeded to use self check out, scanned all of my items, paid for my goods and began to leave the self checkout area. The self check out cashier was starring me down like I didnt pay, looking me up and down as well as my cart. I still smiled and spoke first, saying thank you and have a good evening. The cashier maintained her demeanor, no smile, no have a good evening, no thank you for shopping with us. As I continued to the door the security guard was standing near the exit and at least he spoke and said have a good one! With cost of living continuing to rise you would think these associates would at the very minimum be polite. No one has to shop Raley's. There is plenty of cheaper options. I also understand that people steal at an alarming rate but if that's how a paying customer is treated, I will stick to Safeway. Raley's needs to really train their employees on customer service. People shouldn't walk out feeling upset or profiled. Especially, since the cashier was older, she definitely knows better. I won't be returning and neither will my family. If I could give a zero I would. No personality, no service, not even a thanks from the self checkout cashier or the associates that passed while I was shopping. I will give 100% gratitude to the lady in the deli department as always she was kind and friendly. I also included my receipt. Which also reflects I spend quite a bit of money there based off my discounts. Also, the aisle with all the individual cold drinks is filthy. The shelves are sticky and when you grab a red bull the bottoms of the cans are so dirty. Im talking debris, stuck to the shelf, and sticky. Do better ! read more

I went to get wine at Raley's since they have a 30% discount if you buy 6 bottles. At the checkout I reminded the checker not to forget the discount. He said he did it. When I got to my car, I checked the receipt, no discount and the amounts seemed high. I returned to the shelf to verify the amounts and saw that I was also charged the higher inflated price, not the member price. I then went to the checker and he seemed puzzled but finally admitted that there was no discount applied. He said I would need to bring the bottles back in the store and get back in line to apply the discount. I left and will not return. read more

I am so grateful for the Raley's Bakery Department on Tully Rd in Modesto, Ca. I want to give a special shoutout to Vanessa and Christina who helped me with this special baby shower cake order, and Marlene who made the cutest and most delicious cake I could have ever asked for! Vanessa helped bring my vision of the kind of cake I was imagining to life and carefully wrote all the details down for Marlene to work her magic!! Everything was perfect and these ladies were so patient, helpful, professional, kind and TALENTED. They take pride in their craft and are so humble at the same time! Tully location has to be one of the worst I have complained several gimes about only one register being open with a line dwn the aisle. There is no self check at this location so thats not an option. 2 stars for the selection of items. There's a couple of items I like that I can only get here. Unfortunately, the Raley's on Floyd is on the other side of town, so once in awhile I come here. For the prices they charge...no. This store is extremely old and outdated!! No self check outs, 2 lanes open when you're lucky. This store is like. 1980s time warp. Employees are always stressed out, not really friendly. Can't blame them when there's only 3 employees in the entire store, they're obviously stretched pretty thin. I would be a regular shopper here if the customer experience justified the higher prices, but doubt that will ever happen. Remodel this store and hire more employees please!! read more

One of the best brownies I have ever eaten, soft and chewy on the inside and just hard enough on the outside. I would say these brownies are just as good or better than Starbucks, plus the price for 1 brownie is $4 while you get 6 for $4 at Raley's. I ordered a birthday cake at Raley's bakery on Floyd Ave. I asked for some sprinkles, no filling and Happy Birthday Dad. Days later, when they showed me the cake, I noticed it was completely covered in sprinkles with no empty spaces. I thought it was odd but not worth worrying about. Later, when I set the cake in front of my dad, I noticed that there were plastic strips on top of the cake and realized that they had written Happy Birthday Dad on the clear plastic strips, because there were so many sprinkles and no where to write! I merely asked for some sprinkles, not the measles! Also, the cake had chocolate filing in the center, which again wasn't what I had ordered. We all laughed it off, but later my dad told me that he felt insulted. When Raley's showed me the cake, they put it in a white box with clear plastic windows on each side with handles on top, so I couldn't see the top of the cake. After the debacle, I knew why they had purposefully given me that specific box. About a week later, I stopped by to let them know how I felt and that after 10 years I'll no longer buy cakes from them ever again. The lady who manages the bakery got a little defensive and said that they put plastic on all of their cakes. And the lady behind her glared at me, obviously upset. I'll stop by the store to get a few things if I'm in the area but I'm never stepping inside their bakery again. read more

Raley's 3020 Floyd ave, while the store is superb with service and products, the hoodlums who hang around and shoplift and steal bicycles aren't. Was there yesterday Jan 10 2023. My son's bike was stolen from the Raley's bike rack. He had a good lock and cable, but thieving tools were better. We asked to see the surveillance footage from the manager to assist the police in their investigations, but Raley's would not comply. Modesto PD had a 3 hour wait time to answer the call. This is a common problem at this particular Raley's. A security guard is often present in the store for theft reasons. I don't plan shopping there anymore. Just not a safe environment. read more

Looking for Pinot Grigio and cherry brandy specifically kirschwasser 80 percent proof for fondue and it was the hardest thing to find for fondue Raleys out of all the grocery stores in Modesto had cherry brandy. Would shop here again seems like they have a great selection. read more

I wonder if Raley's management understands that they cost a lot more than the discount stores, but customers are willing for pay more for the selection and CUSTOMER SERVICE. I don't know what happened to the Tully Rd location, but once again, the lines there were ridiculously long and yesterday, in response to a post 5pm rush, Raley's had just 3 registers open. I eventually asked one of the checkers if another to which they finally looked up to notice the lines, seemingly for the first time, and called for just ONE more register to open. (I actually expected to hear a logical reason for why only 3 check stands would be open at that time of day like, "We're short staffed today" but nope, not one of the employees noticed the lines.) Predictably, the one check stand didn't help much and several minutes later they FINALLY opened a 5th check stand. What had most customers angered wasn't just the long lines, but watching the employee's lackadaisical, leisurely work pace, none of them even making a pretense of trying to speed up to reduce the wait time. One employee's plodding pace matched his constantly yawning perfectly, so much so that an elderly man commented on it. Jamel said, "Ah, man, I just woke up" as if that's a reasonably excuse for working at a snail's pace in font of customers who've been waiting far too long because none of the clerks could be bothered to open another check stand and had to be asked to do so. Ugh. I'm not writing this Yelp review to vent after a single incident. I'm hoping the someone at Raley's reads this and considers training employees to maybe, I don't know, hustle a little when it's really busy and open up other check stands when the line if 5+ carts long. Tell the courtesy clerks that heavy goes on the bottom, light on the top, cold goes together and don't mix food with soap and cleaners. Oh, and if a customer says "Thank you" after being handed the receipt, don't ignore them. read more

Best place to go if you like waiting in line. I tend to shop this store for quick items, run in run out and always forget, I will be in line for 10 minutes to purchase 2 items. That's all right my time isn't very valuable and my bad back can use the stress on it. Where to start... Went into the store today to get some maple extract for a recipe my son wanted to make. Found what I needed and then got something extra from the cashier and the guy who claimed he was the "manager." I always check out the beer selection, and noticed some of my favorites were on sale and one was on clearance for $5.50/6-pack. When I got to the cashier, I placed the two 6-packs (clearance at $5.50), the maple extract, and a 4-pack on the belt. The 6-packs rang up wrong, and the cashier turned to the "manager" at the register behind her. I asked (since there was no line) if they would like me to go grab the tag off the shelf, and they said "sure." Pretty swell of me, if I do say so myself. I grabbed the tag and noticed the product I had was in the wrong place (not on sale), and noted this when I returned. I said I would still take the beer anyways. The cashier began to scan the beer again and I pointed out that she had already rang them up. She seemed confused and then ignored me and rattled off the total. I explained again that she had double rang all the beer. She asked, "how do you figure?" I suggested that she count the 6-packs...there were four on the monitor. She grabbed the three beer packs (one four-pack and two six packs) and counted...to FOUR! I was baffled...and then calmly asked her to remove the beer. "You know what, just remove the beer." The manager stepped over and interjected, "what do you want?" I replied that I wanted the beer but was being charged twice. So, I just wanted all the beer taken off. Then, as if the cashier wasn't bad enough, he removes the beer except the final charge for the four-pack (he removed five items, mind you). I then requested he take the last beer charge off - pointing to the screen. He didn't look at the monitor, and told me to "calm down." I then asked for the store manager, and he said it was him. There was no one he reported to here. Again, I'm talking, not raising my voice, or being rude. I repeated that all I wanted to as the beer removed. I pointed to the screen, and he still didn't look. He again said to explain. So, I explained what happened step-by-step and checked for comprehension; "are you following me?" He said yes, and I kept going step by step. Apparently, he didn't like the fact that his cashier could have made a mistake and was having trouble processing. He then tells me "you're done. You don't get to disrespect her (pointing to the cashier). You're now trespassing...leave." Then, I lost it. I got loud and complained that this was ridiculous and that even he was incompetent. Beer was to be removed but he still didn't look on the screen. Neither of them had the ability to critically assess the situation and fix THEIR errors. Now, I was being treated as if I was the idiot, when the cashier couldn't count to 4 and the "manager" couldn't figure out that beer is still being charged. He started to apologize to the customers watching this, for my behavior, and I told him he should be apologizing for his incompetence and his cashier's inability to do math a fourth-grader has mastered. Sadly, I shop here frequently, but this is ridiculous and beyond the pale. It was a simple error, but both of these folks seemed hell-bent on being incompetent and failing to read the damn screen. I left, went to O'Briens market on Dale (where I get treated right), and got what I needed. I don't know if I will ever go back to this store - or Raley's - for that matter. O'Briens would never have done this or made me feel like an idiot for their consistent and repetitive mistakes in basic math. Avoid this Raleys... read more

Drove here from Patterson because last year it was the only store that had traditional bangers. This year they apparently don't have them because, and I quote- "they (manufacturer?) changed the size from xx ounces to xx ounces and the new size won't be here for like a month." That information only took me 20 minutes to obtain after raking to three different employees, the last one I assumed to be a distributor as he was wearing Harris Ranch gear and no Raleys logo clothing was visible. I then looked online for other locations after the abysmal customer service here and found another location in Modesto so I called. After selecting meat dept. I was on hold FOR-EV-ER and when someone finally answered she then sent me to some extension which again, rang FOR-EV-ER before someone picked up the line, pressed some number buttons and after a minute of silence and me asking if anyone was there, hung up on me. Thankfully the Raleys I'm Turlock had ever I was looking for, and their meat dept pulled a few out of the cooler and set them aside specifically for me. 1/2 an hour later and St. Patrick's Day is saved by great customer service, and I have one less reasons to drive to Modesto. read more

A small selection of ethnic and alternative health foods that are hard to find around the area is the store's one saving grace. Staff are unhelpful and will downright avoid those who use mobility aids. From greeting customers to the store, offering assistance while shopping, or even unloading mobility carts for shoppers in need...when in fact it is standard for staff to unload full sized shopping carts for able-bodied shoppers...my visit on October 8th 2021 was very eye opening. I also witnessed staff avoiding others who did not fit a very specific customer mold. Concerns addressed to the Store Director are yet to be answered. This speaks volumes as to what type of customers the store values. Tip: shop elsewhere if you can, or online if nothing local. No one deserves to feel like the staff are repulsed by them. read more

Went to Raleys on Tully today and FINALLY they are replacing the lights!! So you can see when you shop! I actually enjoyed my experience! So glad to see this being done ! Normally I'd put 4 or 5 Stars for a grocery store that is convenient, super stocked with best everyday necessities and ample parking. Tonight during these difficult times we're experiencing, to be understanding would be what you'd expect me to say... Our "New Normal" should be followed by ALL. Tonight was NOT one of those times where you'd step back and say, I get it, putting a PPE (mask) because it is currently in affect by State Mandated law to don a face covering of some sort. OR the fact that an 8ft large chalkboard with the etching, "Mask Required - State Law" stands outside the entrance of Raley's on Tully Road... Understandable. What pisses me off is that, after driving to Raley's and seeing this signage made me get back in my car, drive back home to get my mask, then after walking the store to find that an adult and her three girls Not wearing a mask made me lose it. Was it a racial thing? I looked around to see if it was my imagination, seeing these white people in front of me in line without masks, made me think my Asian-self, a Hispanic lady, and a Hispanic man behind me in line wearing our masks was OUR exception to the RALEY'S rule. Of course, watching them in front of me in line checking out with the cashier, this might be true for sure. I asked the white cashier why place the sign outside your store when obviously you're not enforcing the rules to ALL your customers. My favorite ROBOTIC response by the checker Repeated three times, like I was either deaf or wanting her to say it to me like she was reading it from a book, doesn't make ANY F#%&King SENSE whatsoever. I understand you are not the "mask police" but seriously, it would be nice if you take the chalkboard sign out. Otherwise just change the sign from mandatory law to "Whites are not required by Raley's to wear masks, but people of color are required instead (By State Law)" This would make it much easier for me to shop your store in the future and not waste my time. We just picked up an Italian Rum cake that we made a special trip to the store to special order. When we went to pick it up today the woman brought us a frozen cake!! I explained to her that I special ordered it so it would be freshly made and no one ever told me it would be a frozen cake and that they don't make them. You assume that if you order a cake at a bakery that it will be freshly made. I ordered this cake for Christmas Eve and don't have time to get another cake. When I "must" go to Raley's for a needed food or beer item that Walmart or Target doesn't have, I feel a dark cloud of dread envelop my soul. We picked up two of the lobster macs (which is normally my favorite!) for dinner and they were absolutely inedible. I mean, gross. The flavor, the texture, everything. I took two bites and couldn't finish it. I thought I got expired meals, but checked the date, and I didn't. We tossed them both out. Absolutely disappointed. Whereas Safeway screams corporate (which doesn't bother me), Raley's screams old school. This location is a bit dated for sure. I still have fond memories of the old oakdale road location. Back in its day, it was the big, sparkling ring in the jewelery case that was Modesto's grocery landscape. Raley's is still dependable for good service & old fashioned values. The main attraction for me here is the health food section. It's actually an entire section of the store, instead of just one aisle. The deli & bakery departments are expansive. I was floored when I saw that they do a Tiffany cake. Oddly, the cake is chocolate w raspberry filling, as opposed to white. Hardly a deal breaker, but unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. No matter when I come in, or how much time has gone by since my last visit, someone always asks me if I'm finding everything okay. Then, there's Peet's. The only Peet's in Modesto is right here. It's only a kiosk, but still. Props. Raley's still feels like a neighborhood market. 4 stars. read more

Peets! Peets? I came to the store to see if they had Peet's coffee available. It's back in the southmost corner. I would have asked someone, but no employee who passed me seemed friendly. By the time I found the Peet's counter, by the bakery and deli, I wondered if it would be any good. It's just a counter, similar to the Manteca store. I ordered a Caramel Freddo from the beleaguered but friendly employee. She was doing 10 things at once, and eventually, as she started my drink, others arrived to ask why she had opened an oven. By the time I got my drink, my migraine had made itself known, and as I walked out, I noticed that she forgot any extra flavor, giving me a Caffe Freddo instead.
