Just went today with my wife to get there mini tote bag. Line was so long. When we were about our turn to enter, this guy who man the line suddenly told me infront of my wife and people behind us said , " You been here three times already and this will be your last day". I told him, yes but all those times I merely asked when will the bags arrived. He didn't see me getting or carrying all those tote bag. I was embarrassed when he said those words not only infront of my wife but all those people behind us who heard him. It seems he discriminate me. I'm sure some of those people behind us came many times for the bag. But why he single me out especially infront of those people. A lovely grocery store! Trader Joes offers a wide variety of produce, meats, dairy, premade and frozen meals, snacks, and drinks. The have a nice cheese selection which make for great charcuterie boards. All their Trader Joe's branded items are great, but their produce is often lacking. I was looking for some eggplants but they were super soft and already too wrinkled to buy. I also tried to buy some heirloom tomatoes but their Best Buy date was nearly a week before the date I came shopping and were all squishy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is horrifically crowded. No matter the time of day, it is super busy and you can barely walk down the aisles.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone is bumping into each other and walking the wrong direction, making the shopping experience really miserable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would love to walk around the store and take time to browse but I cannot bear to stay in there longer than a few minutes because I don't want to get bumped into. The parking experience is similar. There is never any parking and you'll need to circle the lot for probably 10 minutes before you find a space. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Regardless, the store is pretty organized and the shelves are well-stocked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had mixed experiences with the staff. The majority of the time, the crew members really encapsulate the friendly and kind-hearted nature that Trader Joe's employees are known for. However, my most recent visit was unfortunately different. When asking for my ID for an alcohol purchase, I wasn't even asked. The cashier, without even looking up from bagging very curtly said, "give me your ID." Her demeanor was not welcoming and rubbed me the wrong way a bit. I would recommend those to come here only if they need something in particular and if you have the whole day to spend looking for parking and crawling around the store. read more

Personally I have always liked Trader Joe's for their food selection specially their gluten free options however its not limited to that, they have really good, really affordable options for everyone. They also have a nice selection of floral options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its always nice inside from what I've always experienced people are helpful and friendly and I've never had to wait in line for an extended period of time, everything is pretty easy to find and the store is always clean and open and bright.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I always enjoy my trips to Trader Joe's, they also make it easy if my item is out of stock to make sure I have a way to get it in the future. I was told to call ahead and they will reserve the item for me for the day I plan to come by (since I live out of town) and to make sure the item is in stock. read more

I love Trader Joe's! They offer a lot of gluten-free items that I drive across town for. They're fast, efficient, and clean, with fresh produce, and meats and cheeses. And best of all, the prices are reasonable! Cashiers are always ready with a friendly smile. One of my most favorite things is being able to buy unique styles of flowers in small amounts to make my own bouquets. The store feels like the employees are at a private party that customers are not invited to. Overheard many private conversations between employees. Never heard any of them ask any customer if they needed help. The end of my poor shopping experience was my cashier having to give his coworker a thumb down before processing my transaction. This is my go to spot and very happy that Trader Joe's is now closer to me. I get my bundle of eucalyptus here to hang inside my shower. I go in the am to avoid crowds as it can be very busy and packed. I love their very budget friendly food staples in there. They actually have good selections depending on your food preferences. Ube mochi pancake and waffle can get scarce here or sometimes non-existent so I get 2 or more boxes whenever they stock it up and the same goes to my ube ice cream, YUM! They also have such good variety and selections of fresh cheese, spreads and dips. If one loves to sample which wines excites their palette, this place have great selections and the Charles Shaw $2 (Two buck chuck) wines are great to start with. One needs to just peruse this place to see what they have to offer as their selections sometimes varies by season or specials or new arrivals. Friendly people and great service is always a plus here. There's always someone available to help you out if you have any questions or in need of assistance. read more

I was in the store yesterday and was excited to see the new fall products and was really disappointed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The visual merchandising was bland. Seeing a whole end cap with pumpkin pancake mix when walking into the store is not exciting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I want something that really gets you pumped about fall and the pumpkin products. I don't want to hunt for them in the store or be disappointed when I get home because I didn't even know that product was in the store . [[HIGHLIGHT]]The new item display is nice but it didn't have most of the new pumpkin products on it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I' m not a visual merchandiser but a long time customer and I feel like I could make more eye catching displays. I remember them being better in the past. I also never knew that you are supposed to be provided with a wow experience. Many of the employees, especially when stocking shelves or doing samples, do not invite any interaction. There are some who sit on the floor stocking and give the body language of do not talk to me, I am busy. There are also some employees on checkstand, who only say hi and what your total is. I'm not asking for them to find out my life story, but would cracking a smile and making some effort to engage be that difficult. That certainly isn't a wow experience. I will continue to shop here but I feel like this store needs to step it up. read more

This is my go-to place for all things yummy! They have a fantastic selection of produce, frozen foods, snacks, alcohol -- you name it. Prices are affordable and there is always enough checkers, so you don't have too wait too long. And, the best thing of all? The people that work there! The young man who was ringing up my items took the time to find out why a couple of items that I've been looking for were not on the shelf. Trader Joe's is consistently the best from the east coast to the west coast. I shop at on in Virginia and I was visiting family in Modesto. I had a craving for a nice homemade salad, so I knew where to go. I got a bag of salad greens, Persian cucumbers, shredded carrots, cilantro salad dressing, balsamic grilled chicken, and a bag of kale. This is the same thing I get in VA!! What blew me away is that Trader Joes California sells alcohol, like their own brand of Tequila! Like their own spirits. That sorta blew me away. In Va they sell beer and wine, but not TJ branded tequila! Service was great, helpful, and the samples were on point as well as the free coffee sample. read more

I love Trader Joe's. I come here almost every Sunday morning for grocery shopping. I love to get fresh fruit and vegetables. I like that a lot of the vegetables are packaged so customers haven't touched all on them. They just remodeled the place so the aisles are wider and roomier. The Applewood bacon is tasty and cheaper than what you get in the supermarket. My family enjoys the sweet snacks. I love when they restock the s'more's! Yum! read more

I've had a few bad experiences here due to the employees and likely, poor training and instruction. First, during the pandemic when there were elderly hours I was held up by an employee who had to check with his supervisor about letting pregnant women in with the elderly. I told the employee that I called ahead of time and was told that pregnant women fall under Immunocompromised. Employee Joe said it was okay after making me wait outside and making me feel like I'm trying to cut the line. "No, I called ahead and wanted to get food to feed myself and my unborn child." Second, I called ahead of time to see if there was a seasonal item in stock. I was told it was in and when I asked if it was on the shelf, I was told yes. It takes me 45 minutes to get to Trader Joe's, so this is why I call ahead of time. I arrive at the store, don't find it on the shelves. I ask a crew member, was told to check the pumpkin area, not there. The helpful crew member asks the front desk. They mumble something about Janine, again. They didn't have the item and said they won't get it for another couple months. Gee, that would've saved me a long drive. Third, I remember having to hunt down a crew member to ask about stock. Apparently customers needing assistance isn't too important and it's ok to clearly ignore a customer in need. I like Trader Joe's. This store isn't the best in terms of service and knowledge. Don't rely on calling to see if an item is in stock. Also, don't rely on information when calling in. Why offer call on service if it's just going to be wrong? read more

Is there anything that Joe can't do? He's nothing less than genius at turning mundane, everyday items into extraordinary ones. Cream cheese, for example. Plain cream cheese? Meh. Pumpkin cream cheese? Game changer. I actually reinstated bagels, those carb bombs I never allow myself to indulge in because they're carb bombs, into my morning rotation again...just so I would have a worthy canvas to enjoy this fabulous cream cheese. Of course they weren't ordinary bagels, either. They were TJ's pumpkin bagels. Natch. These pumpkin bagels are made w actual pumpkin flour, people. Fantastic tomato feta soup. Truffle flatbread. Southwest salad. Sesame cashews. Love, love, love. And don't forget the cookie butter. On top of it all, you'll save at least 30% shopping here over a supermarket. There are some items you'll inevitably still need a Safeway for; the key is to incorporate both for what each does best. San Francisco TJ's are always packed. Sometimes there's parking staff just to control the parking lot. So this Modesto location is a total breath of fresh air. If healthier alternatives can actually taste good, then I'm in. Joe specializes in producing healthier options of conventional fare, adding gourmet twists to them, & the result is pure deliciousness. A special specialty store. 5 stars. read more

It's great that there is a Trader Joe's in Modesto! The store is clean with friendly staff who help you find things. I like their assortment of plants and flowers, their produce section also has good prices. I noticed that they didn't carry some of the salads that you might find in the bay area locations like the Greek salad. Overall, a good store to get organic and delicious items, and you can't forget the sweets! I find myself never leaving without the Dark Choc Pretzel Slims which you can't find in other stores. And the Sour Cream Puffs are also one of my faves, it's so good for the price! read more

I would just like to know why you sell lettuce with a live snail inside the bag! Are your standards so low that you do not bother to even check every single product you place in your store! This is beyond ridiculous and I am beyond livid at the atrocity, that is alive and kicking inside the bag. I know you sell organic products but you really didn't need to include a live snail! Someone will be there at your store tomorrow to show you the lettuce and the receipt as proof that it was purchased from your store.
