There were other people in the store that were older than us and they acted politely towards them. We wanted to speak up but did not have the confidence to a the time. Anytime we were looking through a rack they gave glared at us from across the room. Do not recommend going to fashion avenue if you do not want to feel less then welcome in their store.

The surprise is that it is non profit supporting charities and churches by over Two million. The prices are less than normal thrift stores for clothing but the furniture they gave us the gem! This is the brand new CAP thrift store, located in a previous Pier One store. There was a sign on…read moredoor saying Holiday stuff 25% off. I found a few things including MN Twins Zubaz pants, elf from elf on a shelf, vintage felt Santa, pig tail barbecue turner new in box, Justin Timberlake 20/20 CD, and a wooden log foot stool or shoe rack. The staff was super friendly. The prices weren't ridiculously high. There are bathrooms at the back right corner of the store. There were small half carts and the rolling baskets. Parking was plentiful. The store is super clean and not cluttered. Stop in and maybe you'll find a treasure or 2 or 3.

If you're down to scrounge, this place might be for you (I'd just urge you to wash your hands after). That said, I specifically went here today because I needed a stapler. Mine went missing when I moved (probably in some box I've yet to unpack in my storage unit), and there's zero need to purchase a brand new stapler when I know I can get an old reliable Swingline from a thrift place like this (plus, I remembered on my first amble through here that they had a whole basket of staplers). Sure enough, I was able to acquire a stapler. But you can bet your ass that I brought along some staples to test out said staplers... the first one I picked up had a busted spring, but the second was fully functional. Both had been priced at $3. I mention this simply as a word of warning to consider testing before you buy.) I also picked up a bobbin thread case and a quart sized bag of crayons (both priced at $3) while I was there. This place is good for finding the kind of craft stuff your granny would keep around at a low price. And honestly, you're doing the environment a BIG favor to snag this kind of thing off a thrift store shelf rather than "convenience buy" it off Amazon or whatever. You can save money and feel good about yourself. The rest of the store has stuff like glassware, clothing, kids stuff, and holiday decor. It's not all amazing stuff. I reckon a lot of folks donate stuff they don't care to sort through when an elderly parent finally kicks it. The employee behind the checkout counter was a little slow to bother acknowledging me, but once we were interacting, they were friendly enough and wished me a good day; seemed like they were happy I actually bought something instead of just browsing.

They are now located in Saint Paul on Snelling and I'm thrilled as a STP girly. My friend introduced me to the shop after she scored some cowboy boots for a themed party. We visited together on a Sunday and were able to snag some fun deals including a swimming suit, a dress I plan to wear for Halloween, and some tops. Buffalo Exchange sells both men and women's clothing along with shoes and accessories. Pricing is fair and the interior is clean and well organized. The staff is friendly and helps bring items to the dressing room to try on and write your name on a big board. Upon purchase, you will be handed a token if you don't take a bag or bring your own bag. From there, you get to pick a charity of your choice to donate a percentage of your purchase to with no extra fees included. Amongst favoring second hand wear, I also support Buffalo Exchange's mission and variety of items. I look forward to finding more gems very soon. Welcome to Saint Paul!!!

I was greeted on entry by one of the employees, who kindly explained that each little section was its own thing based on what people brought in (I've seen antique shops laid out this way, so I was familiar with this style of shopping). He let me know that anything I wanted to try on I could just grab and take to the back at my own leisure, or if I wanted him to hold onto anything in the front to free up my hands as I browsed, he could do that too. For those that make clothing decisions along gender expression lines, FYI this store leans femme, probably 80% or more; most of the shop isn't masc. I'll honestly wear whatever fits and imo looks good on me, so no worries here. I was lightly amused when the employee took one look at my dude self and assured me there was "some Harley Davidson stuff and Carhartt" in the back, LOL. So anyway, I ended up buying a bunch of different colored tie-dye crop tops. X'D (All for only three bucks a piece! Steal!) The shop is well-lit and has natural lighting as well, which makes the shopping experience feel relatively light and airy, especially for a thrift store. The aisles are a little tight, but that just means more great stuff to search through and find thrifted treasure! I was especially impressed by the roomy and almost elegant styled dressing rooms, which were far more pleasant than most dressing rooms I'm accustomed to-- you know the ones... cramped, under fluorescent lighting... ugh. So these dressing rooms were a real breath of fresh air! They even had a little area just beside them with comfy chairs and toys for your spouse or kiddo to wait while trying things on. There is also a gender neutral bathroom available towards the back. Even checkout was fun, as interacting with the employees was pleasant. The male employee was thoughtfully considering aloud that I, also a dude, was buying cute crop tops, and I ended up encouraging him to consider showing off a little belly in our upcoming warm weather, letting him know I'd been encouraging my own husband to show off his cute bod. I love when I can go someplace and help break down a few silly gender norms while supporting local biz-- doesn't get much better than that! I maybe wish I'd discovered this place sooner! (Though perhaps my wallet is glad I didn't, lol.) I'm sure to be back in the future. And maybe I'll even inquire when they'll have a consignment opening... I have some stuff I should probably rotate out of my closet, including some plushies that deserve a new loving home. And that's the magic of thrifting! I'll stop raving now.
