You have to hunt and frequent to find the treasures but I never leave empty handed. My boyfriend found the box set of Harry Potter. I snagged some cool vintage Halloween decor, creepy clown figures and some cutesy kitchen stuff. I would recommend to stop by and see what they got. There a variety of housewares, clothes for everyone, a selection of larger art pieces some mixed media. There's plenty of parking and they accept donations and you in turn will receive a coupon for your next purchase. All in all a great time in my book. If you are a thrifter like me, you know that you can find some very nice things if you know how to look, where to look and are willing to get your hands dirty (but not literally). read more

Not sure how this shythole has 3 stars...... First visit last month. VERY small store. Not a lot of stuff. Basic "we had a garage sale over the weekend and donated the waste product here" lines the shelves. As a BONUS : someone in the system of pricing ; caught wind that "Vintage rock concert shirts from the 1990s are worth HUNDREDS of dollars". So the trickle down BRAIN behind this ; prices CRAP tee shirts from soccer games and church picnics and "runs for cancer" at like $9.99 which is outrageous! (They should all be $1.99 at the most) . Lady at the register said "Oh yes, they are expensive- that stuff comes from the warehouse". I am gonna get the number for the warehouse and give them a call . This place sucks so much that it makes the UNIQUE up the road look like a "Fine Antiques" shop in NYC. Traveling ? DO NOT GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO SHOP HERE . read more

Saw a pair of blowfish sneakers for almost 11$ (not worth it) - but Ecko red for less then 6$ ??? Two pairs of jeans I put back because they were priced almost 10$ and would be a waste if they didn't fit. Housewares galore. Sets of plates and cups. Coffee makers. read more

I want to say I love this place and I definitely used to. But those times have greatly changed. The fact that management allows people to congregate and camp out in the back of the store all day just to bombard the item carts as they are wheeled out is absurd. The back left by the ramp there are two middle-aged men who are there all day. In fact, every day that I am able to go, that's right where they are. And I see people come out of the back of the store who work there and hand merchandise directly to them. I believe that they are all working together. Then venture further to the back by the toys and there are roughly 3 men sitting around on whatever used furniture that comes out, waiting for the sneaker racks to come out. Take a mosey on down to the back right of the store and there are 3 or 4 women there all day waiting for the clothes to come out so they can greedily sift through everything before it's put out on the floor. Not only are these people greedy, but they're pushy and rude. I've seen it and even recorded it a few times - fights that break out among the resellers. I've also seen the women who work at Savers trying to process the merchandise to the floor, but their carts are bombarded and they can't do their jobs. I've seen people pushed aside. Is this all really necessary?! There was a time when thrift shops were for people to enjoy the eclectic style of shopping, and also for people to shop who cannot afford every day prices for new merchandise. Those days are absolutely over. Now we see stores just crawling with resellers waiting to mark up the already inflated thrift shop prices and sell them on eBay. Or at the Bellmore flea market. Or wherever it is they go to peddle. And Savers corporate offices are feeding right into it marking the prices up. I'd also like to mention how absolutely filthy the store is. It looks like they do not even bother hiring a cleaning crew. The floors look like they haven't seen a mop in years. And the toy section is used as a daycare for shoppers who allow their unattended children to destroy that area, as well as leave big toys blocking the aisles that the employees need to walk by to do their jobs. A great way to turn this store around would be to hire management who cares about the integrity of the store, and kicks the daily cart mongers out once and for all. This has to end. It's time to regroup and hire a crew that cares about the fed up customers. read more

I always donate here because allegedly proceeds go to the Nonprofit Boys and Girls Organization. This location is about 5 minutes from home and 2 minutes from my office building. I definitely advise you visit Mid week. I was able to purchase some super cute finds for my daughter for a whopping $10. If you have a daughter you know all about the Justice store and how expensive that store is. There's like never a sale. We scored some skinny black Justice Cords here for $5.99 and a cute leopard cardigan to go with it. I also scored a 20% off coupon for donating a few items today which saved me $2. Recently we have been expanding my daughter's Barbie collection and they have some Barbies that are in PRISTINE condition ! I mean very well taken care of with clean outfits and the works. We also found a full collection of Build A Bear clothing and accessories that were basically good as new all for $2.99. A few of my Yelp community members have scored some mint condition retro Jordan's here and that's just unbelievable. I don't know anyone whose willing to give up a pair of their J's old or new unless... they're "Bootleg"! I found some Juicy couture velour suits with the tags, brand new suits and blazers from Tahari as well. If you're a woman in her 50's there are plenty of suits for church and work. I found them to be a little well... dated. BUT! If I was planning to dress up as Vivian or Hillary Banks from Fresh Prince of Bell Air or Will himself this is the spot. I find this store a little better than its cousin thrift, Unique. There were more items with the tag still attached here. The only issue is how small the aisles are. Give yourself a good 2 hours to search. It's totally worth the trip. Staff is super nice and inventory varies day to day. Parking lot is always packed like an afro so be very careful and have active insurance with full coverage. read more

They're back to one star. 3.99 for used DVDs in 2025? Really? They were my main reason for donating and coming to the store. I can get 3 for $6 on ebay with no shipping. You can get new DVDs for $5 at target. I'm just so over this store. It was nice when I first found it but I'm going back to donating to my neighbors who collect for their church. I liked the 20% off and getting the DVDs on the spot but it's just not worth the waste of the drive anymore. Raising each DVD a whole $1. Get the hell out of here Even 3 for $10 would have worked if the store is hard up for money. Although I don't see how, they get practically all their stock for free from donations and sell what they don't use or get a tax write off by buying from the boys and girls club or the other way around. Holy thrift-store score Batman!! Just when I thought my Halloween costume dreams were coming to an end, I found myself staring at some MINT looking old school Jordan's. Literally Mint (well except for the marks on the bottom, but they're not new so to be expected). The box and the shoes smell brand new too, as if they were maybe worn outside once or twice. Ugh, did I just admit that I smelled someone else shoes.. it was just a quick test sniff.. Ok whatever.. they're mine now, so ha! My spidey senses tell me that someone must have gotten these as a gift or perhaps hated them, because from what I understand it, these aren't that common and could fetch a decent penny online or at a "sneaker-head" store. I also have a feeling the store might not have known exactly what they had on their hands, because I definitely didn't pay what they're probably should have cost, even for used prices. I do admit however, they're kind of "ugly", in the conventional sense that is. To me, they're absolutely gorgeous. Not that I would rock these as a daily item or even a weekly item for that matter... but they would look good for the right occasion (aka Halloween, a party, etc). I'm pretty sure the box is not the original. Actually I'm 100% sure as it says a completely different model on the box. That's totally fine by me, I'm just happy it came with a box! It shows the effort in presentation was made, either by the former owner or by the store to keep them in good looking condition. This has to be the worst savers I have ever visited. I have been to a others in Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island but this one is absolutely the worst. You have the same crew every day that is in this location running the show and blocking everyone off from entering any racks and intimidating all customers who want to purchase items from the new racks. The most troubling part is that the workers and management is in complete cahoots with this crew. Buyers Beware!!! The ladies in the front are extremely rude and not helpful at all. read more

I have been a loyal customer for years and donate regularly. However, I didn't enter the store through the pandemic until May 2022. So imagine my surprise that the dressing rooms are gone. When I asked how I was supposed to try on clothes, I was told to buy what I wanted, try it on, and I would have 14 days to return anything I didn't need. This made sense, and fortunately, everything I got fit. Then yesterday, when looking to create a costume for a local theater production, I bought many clothing pieces to try at home to complete the costume. I chose what worked for my needs, and set aside things that didn't to return. Today I brought back what I didn't need and was told that I couldn't get a refund, despite what their employee had said to me in May. I couldn't even get store credit to use later. I could exchange items right away for other equally priced clothing. I had multiple returns and didn't need anything else at the moment- not for myself or for the show...and certainly not within 14 days. I asked again for a store credit that I could use in the future and was denied. It was either trade for things I didn't need right now or keep the things I didn't need. This policy is entirely unreasonable if the store doesn't provide dressing rooms to try out clothes. The fact that some of their staff are giving wrong information about the policy is worse. So I'm pretty much done with Savers. Buyers beware. Maybe if they change their return policy or return the dressing rooms so you can at least know if things fit correctly or work together before you buy, this may become a place to go for good deals and support good charities. I won't be returning and will be advising my local theaters to spend their costuming budget elsewhere. read more

As always every thrift store is hit or miss . This store has a donation center and they sell everything for a profit. Decent pricing but almost the same cost as a new product on clearance sale at a discount retailer. So really no big savings, it is all perception. Also towards the back by toys you will see a gang of EBAY flippers getting their hands on the good stuff before it comes out . It is annoying to watch them fill their carts and hog up the gems . Come with low expectations and you will leave the same way. read more

I really love this place! Went for the first time today, and i'm really impressed by the selection. Since I came to NY for grad school, i've been on a super tight budget. I came here looking for warmer clothes since it's been getting more and more brisk out. I found 1 madewell sweater (normally like $50) priced at $7, 1 random brand sweater ($6), and a NEW WITH TAGS urban outfitters jacket (I have the same one at home in a different color that was $80) priced at $20. I do think the pricing is fair, but as usual, I always think that thrift stores should charge more than $15. I saw a girl grab a victoria's secret terry sweater like 5 minutes before I got to that section... with the tags on it, too. Bitter is one feeling to describe this situation. The place itself is sort of grimey. The bathroom is for both men and women and is those huge communal ones, so don't come with a full bladder unless you wanna walk in on some dude at the urinal. read more

Best thrift store on Long Island, great prices, lots of variety. I've found some amazing items here, including clothing from my favorite brands such as Madewell for $10- all in excellent condition. Some things on the racks are in bad condition but usually the price reflects this. If you dig for a whole you'll find the good stuff. I've been using this savers to build a business casual wardrobe on a budget, and it's been a great experience! read more

Savers is just about what you'd expect, if your on a budget and love to bargain shop... It's the place to be... Going back to my punk roots, I'm no stranger to thirft stores and looking around for interesting stuff in a sea of the mediocre. Savers is the "diamond in the rough super store!" (Yes... You can use that... But I want the credit!!!). Found a few cool books and DVDs there, and a few... " Well for that price... Why not? Items. Interesting place to kill a half hour or so. read more

I had been here once years back, looks like they must have remodeled because I remember it being much smaller. Tons of clothes as per usual, a nice selection of books and at decent prices, really lacking in terms of video games, movies, and electronics which was kind of disappointing. The place was very well organized however and the staff seemed pleasant even though most of them were having trouble communicating with me to a degree. I'll probably stop back from time to time looking for games etc.. Overall the store seemed bigger and more well kept than the close by Salvation Army Thrift store. read more

Good finds but not the most bargain prices. It's also annoying that they don't let you bring the cart to your car because how the heck else can you easily bring a bunch of things out? I bought a bunch of dishes and did multiple trips back and forth to my car leaving my cart basically unattended inside while I loaded. I'd advise anyone to bring a box, crate, or your own shopper cart with you for loading of heavier and bulky things. read more

I'm a huge fan of Savers and usually frequent the location in Commack. However I was in the area and came to this one and I will never go back. I love Savers because it doesn't feel like a thrift, it feels like a normal retail store. However this one was disgusting. The floors were almost brown and everything was just very gross. I went into the fitting room to try something on and there was gum ALL over the walls, which made me decide not to try anything on. When I finally went to purchase something the lines were ridiculously long with three different registers open, but every associate moving like a turtle. No urgency to keep things moving. It took me around 10-15 minutes just to check out and then they didn't even have change and had to walk away to get some! Definitely try the Commack location if you're interested, this one feels like the worst of thrift shops. read more

My friend and I had the worst experience today at Savers in West Hempstead. This is a thrift store that has used clothing, kitchen aids, toys , chairs and other things. Being a thrift store it is very crowded with narrow aisles so it's definitely difficult to get around. The staff is nice but many of them don't speak English so they can offer no help if one asks. My friend who is handicapped had to use the rest room before she left. I was to watch her cart with her potential purchases and her jacket /scarf which had $40 in the pocket. I sat by the shoe department on a bench with the cart right next to me. I momentarily looked down at my phone and within 5-6 minutes after she left my friend returned. To my distress, we realized her cart was GONE. I asked a sales associate and was told that carts that seem to be abandoned have their items hung up again. I was a bit startled by this. " you mean , you just take carts and redistribute the merchandise?" I said. Yes, I was told. I spoke to a district manager who was not at all helpful. He tried to blow me off and appeared to think it was no big deal that my friend lost her jacket as well as $40 in the pocket. He was totally unconcerned and attempted to dismiss me. I asked him WHY that policy of just taking over carts by sales associates was not publized to the customers with signage. He had no answer. Then I said perhaps a customer took it and he said customers steal carts and owners' stuff all the time. I said again why the fact that theft was very possible also was not publized to the customers. He walked away. I called the police and asked the district manager to check out security cameras. He agreed but reluctantly. Video wasn't clear but my friend noticed her jacket and scarf was being hung up by sales help. She pointed this out to the sales associate and also noticed that there was no sales ticket. The sales people agreed that there was a mistake made. Naturally, my friend's $40 cash was missing. We asked the district mgr for a $20 store credit for the lost of her $40. He unequivocally refused. I think that a store that KNOWS that carts become reclaimed by sales people and that STEALING IS RAMPANT has the responsibility to warn their customers by putting up signs telling customers to be wary of these incidences. The district manager was also rude and very unhelpful. read more

I do love getting a good deal, and love thrift stores, but absolutely have an awful time shopping for clothing here. I am HIGHLY allergic to dust and just being in the store sets my allergies off , not to mention, the fitting rooms are absolutely disgusting. What would it take to bring a vacuum in the fitting rooms every day to get rid of this dust. Not only is it piled up in the corners of the floor, but it's all over the tops of the fitting room. The fitting rooms are dark, so you can barely see what you are wearing, and when you go home to try it on again at home, you realize it doesn't look good, but when you return clothes they only give you store credit. That's a bit ridiculous to me. Either fix up your fitting rooms so people can see, or at least allow full returns. read more

Prices are okay, but not my first choice in thrift stores. Went here last year and it was clean but I just went yesterday and it was very dirty!! Clothes everywhere and unorganized! Looked through my sizes and found bigger or smaller sizes within. Staff is very rude. Though they are not apart of the store, the customers are rude as well. Wanted to get by a few people, since the aisles are a bit tight, but they just stared at me and didn't move. Had to go the longer way around all the aisles which was a bit annoying. One pro, though, is that there is a pretty good selection of shoes. Found 3 pairs for the summer! Okay selection of pants, found 2 pairs, one that winded up not fitting since it had the wrong tag!! Probably would come again in the far future, see if anything changes, but probably will not be heading there again anytime soon. read more

Dear bargain hunters, Most likely you have heard of Savers, which goes by the nom de thrift Value Village on the west coast. If so, you know what you're in for, if not, read on. This is New York State's one and only Savers. It is almost impossible to get to if you don't have a car, and the trip can take half an hour or more if you do. It is, however, worth it. The location is on a semi depressing strip of West Hempstead highway, but is far enough away from the city that it is not at all picked over, and the prices are roughly what they were at Domsey's back in the day (think $6 for a pair of vintage shoes, or $10 for a lamp). Be forewarned: the place can be both a dust trap and a real dose of humanity, so bring your Claritin and your hand sanitizer, if that's your schtick. However, if you have two to three hours and are willing to root, you can find wondrous things for a pittance here. Make sure to check out the homewares for vintage glasses and plates that would cost ten times as much at an antiques store, and the frames area behind the checkout for cheap vintage, yes, frames. This is literally the only place I have found close to the city that you can walk in with 90 bucks and walk out with almost everything you want...if there is anything you want. Bottom line, if you like a bargain, this is the best place you can find it. No one shopping here regularly is looking for vintage, so there tends to be quite a bit that just sits around waiting for someone to squeal over it. Happy hunting! read more

This store used to be one of the best thrift shops however.... Ever since they changed management or something the prices have gone up to a pretty high and unnecessary level. There is no reason why a used bag that's dirty should be $14. There is also no reason why a dingy dress should be $18-20. The prices being asked for the type of clothes are actually pretty laughable. This store has lost it's touch and its management has lost their damn mind. Lmao you can't be serious with those prices! Savers is one of my favorite stores. Location is perfect right on Hempstead turnpike. The store is huge and greatly organized. I love the prices and there's always a sale going on. It's a very clean thrift store. The only con is the staff. Please Savers, teach your staff to be friendly. It's never that serious. Be friendly or simply don't come to work. The store is pretty clean. The bag selection is okay. The housewares is okay. Sometimes you find a gem and other times is a bust. So its a give and take each time you go.The clothing is pretty awesome here and others just fail. Good selection of books,cds, cassettes, dvds, and vhs. The lines can get a little long but its not terrible. Some of the conditions of things should be taken into consideration to be thrown out. Lately they have been overpricing certain things but I just dont buy those things. Good luck with that. read more

This was my first exposure to Savers and really got me hooked on this chain of stores. Consistently awesome merchandise and super low prices. If you are a savvy shopper, you will catch on to all the great deals immediately. This location seems to have a lot of interesting used military and surplus clothing. Over the past few years I've picked up some cool fatigues from different countries and a vintage leather bomber jacket. This location is kind of small, but the space is used effectively and well maintained. For avid thrift shoppers, this may be a little out of your normal circuit, so plan accordingly. Just so you know, Savers has expanded; they're set to open their sixth location in New York State later this year! A mega Savers just opened in Rochester, NY, it's the largest thrift store I've ever been to! read more

It is very hard to give this Saver's location 3 stars because in my overall thrifting experience, and I'm a self-proclaimed expert, it deserves 1.5 stars. HOWEVER, considering that NYC lacks adequate thrift stores, Saver's West Hempstead gets 3 stars by default. I was impressed by the cleanliness and organization of this store. The departments have catergories and the catergories have sub catergories! Even the cups and plates are divided out in the housewares department. I picked up a glass pyrex pie plate for $2.99. As for clothing, I only looked at a few of racks, but there were a couple decent vintage pieces here. I saw some great shearling (sherpa) jackets for $4.99. The sweaters on the other hand were pretty picked over and dated. As with any thrift store, I could have hit it on an off day,but I would defintely give it another chance because you can't get good stuff this cheap anywhere closer to nyc. read more

Went here with a friend of mine and honestly i didnt know what to expect, to be short, they sell a variety of things from clothes, shoes, and even bedding. Its a nice place to try if your looking for something particular and you really dont care about price and name brands, everything was for the most part neat and organized alot better than marshalls at least. I was very impressed with the cashier paul he has the right attitude. His pleasent personality really made the visit here all the more better. read more
