We were in the area and decided to stop in and check out Savi. I haven't been here in many years. It is just like I remembered, a great neighborhood market with many of the necessities you would get from one of the bigger brands. The big surprise was how extensive their beer selection was. The whole back wall was packed with beers that covered pretty much every style. We will definitely have to put this place on the list for one of our next beer runs. Rude cashier! They have signs all over the place stating that they ID everyone. I was purchasing liquor and had my teenage daughter with me. Handed over my ID at same time as my debit card. The cashier asked what the ID was for and laughed - he actually laughed that I offered my ID. I was trying to make a good example in front of daughter in spite of my age. What a jerk. The place is overpriced and the people are rude. Never going back. read more

Service is lacking....severely. Every single time I've purchased wine from them, they truly act as if I am inconveniencing them, nothing major, just no greeting, no thank you, nothing. They don't even look at you most of the time, either talking to one another or using the phone. Even thought this is the closest liquor store to me, I avoid it all costs. I've never experienced racism in the CITY OF Decatur like I did today. I came to SAAVI PROVISION at 180 W Ponce de Leon Ave Unit A Decatur, GA 30030 just to see what brands of mezcal they carry. When I walked into the store I wasn't greeted, cool, but as I proceeded to look for the tequila section I felt like I was being followed. I ignored it. Went to the other side of the store to look at the South African wines when an employee walks up to me and said I need to leave the store because I went through the connecting door to the SAME STORE!!!! I didn't have anything in my hands for them to believe I took anything. Then when I asked they didn't give me answer and told me to leave. While walking out the door I decided to take pics. They telling me I have to go or they would call the police and they did!! I laughed and left cause Only cause I'm going out for town this weekend and didn't want to mess up my plans but I bet they haven't heard the last of me. read more

I visited Savi Provisions in downtown Decatur on 6/29/2024 (a little after noon). The customer service was awful. When I entered the store no one was at the cash register or on the floor. After about 30 seconds a guy ran down the stairs with audio playing from his phone in hand. He did not greet me and went directly to the cash register where he placed his phone on the counter and looked down to watch whatever was playing. I went to checkout and again, the employee did not greet me. He scanned my item, told me the price, and immediately proceeded to continue looking down at his phone. I actually had to ask for the price to be repeated because I could not hear him due to the audio from his phone. After paying, I then had to ask him for a receipt and he literally handed it to me while looking down at his phone. It was the weirdest encounter and came off as I was inconveniencing him by making a purchase and interrupting whatever he was watching on his phone. I would absolutely not return to Savi Provisions in downtown Decatur or recommend this location. read more

A glutton for punishment after my recent visit to the Inman Park location, I guess, I stopped into the new Decatur "Savi Provisions" this afternoon -- really, it's a convenience store and deli -- during what was described to me by staff as their "soft opening." Unsurprisingly, in my opinion, it features the same high prices and unexceptional products as all of their other Atlanta stores. Intrigued by the presence of baguettes -- hard to find in Atlanta -- I inquired about the price of one and almost had a heart attack when the friendly and helpful gentleman at the counter said it was $4.99 (PRE-TAX!). Thinking that I may have accidentally consumed cocaine-infused ramen for lunch and could have heard the staff member incorrectly, I asked again: and, yes, $4.99! This means you're looking at a price over $5 for a single baguette. And, lest you think this was the world's best baguette -- nope, it was stale, very, *very* stale. Let me explain something to the Savi geniuses: baguettes go stale really, really fast, which is why normal bakeries produce new ones all day long. In the hippest part of Central Paris, you don't pay more than about €1.10 for a *fresh* baguette. Given this is Atlanta and baguettes are a "luxury bread," maybe they could charge $2 or $3 for baguettes that will never be truly fresh, but pre-tax $4.99 is just truly wild. (FWIW, the Grant Park Market -- similar store to Savi Provisions -- sells the exact same baguettes for $2.79, which is still high, but within the realm of reasonable for the United States.) I was also curious if they had their infamous "best seller" (as I was told in a response to my review of the Inman Park location) cheese box -- featuring cubes of processed cheese you would find at an office birthday or retirement party -- and I was not disappointed. There it was: cubed cheese, some crackers, and a few pieces of sliced fruit for the PRE-TAX (!) price of $7.99. Let me be crystal clear: in my humble opinion, there's nothing "gourmet" about this shop. It's simply an overpriced convenience store and deli. A positive? Ehhh, the store is new and looks clean. In my opinion, Paul Nair should be ashamed of how he appears to take advantage of Atlanta consumers at these convenience stores. Today, I may have encountered the world's most expensive baguette. Really, really shocking for anyone with a broader perspective on the grocery business. Oh, and they describe themselves on their Web site as "an enthusiast for the nostalgic purveyor of once forgotten generations" -- what does that even mean?! While I'm also not a huge fan of the Decatur Market -- about a half mile away -- in my opinion, it's certainly a better option than yet another Savi, and for those coming in a car, has easier parking. There's also a Whole Foods 365 opening about a mile away, not far away from an Aldi. read more

I'm a little bummed by a situation that happened today at the Decatur store. We bought 5 bottles of wine, a case of beer, and some cheese. At check out, the cashier put two bottles of wine in 1 brown bag then handed it to my husband. As he turned around the bag broke right at the check out counter. The cashier just shrugged her shoulders, and was like oh well. I'm sorry but, I just spent $150 at your store. There was no offer of getting another bottle, or giving me another bottle for half off. Just really poorly handled. I will not be going back, unless someone wants to make right. read more

I walked in the second store ATTACHED to this location and the clerk screamed at me to go back through the door because it wasn't to be used for customers. The door is unlocked and how am I to know there are restrictions. His tone was unprofessional and rude and unacceptable as a customer. After purchasing nearly $200 worth of wine 2 days before I promised him it would never happen again. I will never shop here again, great store on Clairemont I will use as an alternative. read more

I love the Savi Market in Inman park. I went to the Decatur store to pick up cookies- I went through the liquor side as I was unaware there were 2 entrances and the women at the register was on the phone and didn't speak English. When she couldn't answer my question and didn't try to stop her phone call, I took upon myself to find the cookies in the store-I walked through a door (which was marked not for customers) however i was in a rush, I had no idea how to get to the other side of the market which you could see through the glass wall/glass door/loft walls that had the same open ceiling, and it was unlocked. I got so scolded by the clerk at both registers for walking through the wrong door and they could not accept my apology. They acted as if I had committed an unforgivable act , even after apologizing for the confusion and continued telling me how wrong I had been. After my confusion, apology, and saying g "I wish you no bad will- I'll leave through the correct door and I'll not come back to this location. I'll go to the Inman park one closer to my house" that the owner then refused to sell me cookies. It was outrageous. I am a polite, rule abiding person and I never experienced anything like this before with a stranger - let some a patron buying something good from them. If this door thing is really this big of an issue that he's losing business, he may need to consider a renovation or different materials for his glass door and clearly market outdoor entrance to the market you cant actually enter. read more

Nice art but pretty bad layout design. It's designed to discourage shoplifting but it actually just discourages shopping. I didn't buy anything. Going to my usual neighborhood market now. I miss the Cooks Warehouse. I don't imagine this place is going to last very long which is sad for our little town. read more

I was a big fan until today. I shopped at Savi's downtown Decatur store at least twice a week for the past 2-3 months since they have been open. I'm not sure I'm going back. Here's why. I bought a kombucha growler and have been refilling it almost weekly until the past refill I noticed that the lip of the Growler was chipped. I no longer can drink straight out of the Growler since it has become hazardous to do so. I tried on two occasions to convince the manager that the Growler was broken while being refilled by one of her staff and she refuse to believe me. As a frequent customer I had hoped that that would count for something, but I was wrong and disappointed. In today's market it's the small things that really can help to keep a customer base. I can't believe that replacing my Growler was that big of an expense for them and I think they made an mistake. They have lost a loyal customer. read more

Snobby Male Cashier held a 10 minute long conversation with a staff member and when he finally called me to the register, he acted completely condescending while trying to check out. He rushed me through the card processing machine for absolutely no reason. There were maybe three customers in the entire store... Then he didn't even ask if I wanted a receipt... Does he not realize he works in a sad Whole Foods wannabe knock-off??? Learn to humble yourself, seriously... Never going back to this place. This was our first and last visit. On the liquor side, the gentleman behind the counter never spoke, even though I wishes him a happy new year. He just stared the entire time. On the wine side, the female behind the counter did not greet us but thanked us after we made a purchase. We stopped by chance at Savi on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We wandered through the store, then decided to look at the menu. There were some stimulating choices of sandwiches and we decided to give it a try. Very Upper Yuppy type place with a fine selection of groceries. The sit down area was comfortable and the food was in the good to excellent area. The price/value was excellent. We would go back if in the area, but Decatur has so many places to try. So, I wrote before about the tables and chairs not being unchained and put out for use. My husband and I just went to Decatur Savi for lunch outside...omgosh. It literally took the teenage counter girl 35 minutes to make our sandwiches!! We were the only ones there and now we know why!! They move in SLOW MOTION and are really just super annoying. So many good choices in Decatur - this place should just be a wine/liquor store and quit trying to be a deli. Never again for us. read more

I frequent this store weekly for fresh produce, delicious ready to go meals and snacks. The staff are wonderful and it really feels like a neighborhood gourmet shop experience. Very convenient location and parking in the back. Oh yea, and they have a full liquor store in the back and a great beer and wine selection. Where else can you get that in downtown Decatur!!
