I stopped into Green's at Ponce de Leon on Saturday, March 14 around 1:26 PM to make a quick purchase for a cookout I was headed to--an $11 bottle of vodka. What should have been a 30-second transaction turned into one of the strangest retail experiences I've had in a long time. The cashier, Sophia, simply refused to complete the sale. Instead, she remained standing at the register while other paying customers waited in line until a manager eventually stepped in and finished the transaction. Let that sink in: a cashier holding up the line and refusing to ring up a customer for no legitimate reason until a manager had to intervene. If the owners care to review their camera footage from that time, they'll see the entire interaction. At no point was I rude, disruptive, or inappropriate. The escalation came entirely from the employee. What stood out most was the willingness to create a scene and delay multiple customers over what appeared to be a personal reaction rather than any store policy or legitimate issue. Retail is not complicated: ring up the customer, be reasonably polite, and keep the line moving. Apparently that was too much to ask here. I'm not looking for compensation and I'm not interested in arguing about it. But it was such an unnecessarily unpleasant interaction that I felt it was worth documenting. I have spent well over $1,000 at this location, and the level of disrespect I've experienced during my last two visits has been unacceptable. On my most recent visit on 1/26/26, I was told to put my bag away and then instructed to remove my hood by a security guard. The way this was handled felt unnecessary, aggressive, and targeted. As a paying customer, I did not feel respected or welcomed. What made the situation worse was the feeling of being racially profiled by an African-American person, which is something I never expected to experience here. Regardless of who delivers it, profiling and biased treatment are unacceptable and deeply disappointing. Because of these repeated negative experiences, I will not be returning. I hope management takes a serious look at how customers are treated and ensures that everyone is handled with professionalism, respect, and fairness. 0 stars!!! You can kind of call this place the original. I've been coming here at least since the late 90's. Greens has been here for the old Atlanta clientele and has stayed consistent with all the changes to the city and to Ponce specifically. Some times I waste time and energy trying to find something on Instacart or elsewhere. Why? Just come here. They have what you are looking for. And service all your beverage needs. From a party of one to large events, Green's has you covered. Huge selection, knowledgeable staff. Marvelous location. And a no nonsense approach to service. You need your drivers license to shop. And sometimes your patience - cause it can get pretty busy. We almost always leave with a new spirit we didn't know we needed. And if you need that special drink for a special occasion - come here. Just so you know...closing time on Sunday is actually 7:44pm, not 8:00. If you try and enter you will be very rudely greeted by an angry and full of himself security guard. My husband asked to speak to the manager and he was ignored. I tried calling the phone number to explain we knew exactly what we wanted and would in and out in less than a minute and they just hung up without answering three times in a row. They're WAY more concerned with getting home 5 minutes earlier than making sales or having good customer service and reviews. JERKS! read more

I have used Green's a lot during Covid as they offered seamless pickup (they are about as good as Chick-fil-A) They have a good selection of wines, beers and spirits at very good prices. The store "looks" big and clean (haven't stepped in). I have ordered my items on their app (contactless payment). Once they confirm your order, you drive up to their pickup spot where someone will come out and ask your name. You show them your ID and the card you used to pay and they will bring all your items and place them in your car. Can't get easier. Their staff was always wearing masks and even when they checked your ID, they maintained safe distance. It's great at how wonderfully businesses adapt. I hope they continue with this pickup model even after everything is back to normal. I would rather make a quick dash and get my liquor than walk around the isles finding what I want. read more

Man O' Man does Green's have a huge selection of liquors! I've been in search of illusive bourbons and Green's stocked many at exceptional prices. They also have an app so you can check their current inventory which is pretty cool. Definitely a great choice for beer, wine, and liquor. read more

Just left Green's on Ponce where they have fully stocked shelves with a price tag, with the correct name of the product, and ringing up a higher price at the register. The cashier went to the shelves and verified the price was ringing incorrect. She advised the manager of the price and asked what to do. The manager, whose demeanor was mixed with a dash of rudeness asked me to direct him to the same shelf, where he ripped the price off the shelf, and refused to let me take a picture of it, and also refused to honor the price. The manager advised me that he did not have to sell it to me and that he can do whatever he wants in the state of Georgia. Do Not Shop at Green's on Ponce. Contacting the Georgia Department of Revenue. Even if the price was incorrect it did not require the rudeness of the manager and lack of professionalism. I will never shop at this store again nor recommend the location. read more

How can you not love this place? A heaven for all the beer snobs in your life. I am truly impressed with their collection. However, more impressive is their stock of bourbon, rye, whisky and scotch. I scored a bottle of NIkka Taketsuru. They used to have Yamazaki and Hibiki, but those are long gone. Apparently, they can even order a single bottle for you. So I may have to call and place an order. As many other posts have stated, their prices are low low low. I have been here quite a few times. They have a vast selection of different liquors and beer. The beer selection is absolutely massive. If you love beer, you will feel like a kid in a candy shop. Best beer selection of any liquor store that I have seen in the area. I love this place but yesterday when I came in, an older lady checked me out and she made what is normally a great experience somewhat lackluster. They have everything I needed after going to 2 other liquor stores and very helpful staff if you need recommendations. I stay in the heart of Midtown near all the hotels & if you're looking for a wide selection of beer & alcohol this is the place. You may need to take a 3 mile drive but I can assure you it's worth it. They are about $10 to $20 dollars cheaper than the liquor stores near Peachtree street etc. Also because of COVID-19 they offer curbside pick up!!! on Oct. 23 2021 my friend and I came in around 11 for wine. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable about their product. BUT, the security guard they had that night was unprofessional to say the least. As we were leaving he asked me if I was coming back to see him (we had not spoken to him prior to this). I halfway laughed at him despite the creepy comment. He crossed a line when HE GRABBED MY HAIR when we walked by. My friend turned around to him and said "so we're grabbing strangers hair now?." And he replied "yeah" smiling. It was extremely insulting, inappropriate, & disrespectful. One of the best, if not the best, beer and liquor stores in the city. They have everything. I remember when the law changed and allowed high gravity beers. Greens stocked their walk-in cool room with all the best Belgian high gravity beers. It was beer heaven. Now, you can get high-gravity beer at Kroger's and I don't drink them as much, but Greens's is still tops in selection. They have a large single malt selection, too. Might not be the best place for wine. Easy parking in front and plenty of overflow in the Kroger parking lot. read more

There's a surprising dearth of liquor stores in the downtown area, and of those, Green's is by far the best. They are at least twice the size of their nearest competitor (in Little 5 Points) and simply stock a greater array of booze than the others. They have aisles of each kind of liquor and a large wine section, not to mention an array of imported beers. Located right on Ponce next to Kroger, you couldn't ask for a more perfect central spot. They have a small parking lot that usually has open spots despite the fact that they do a lot of business, particularly on weekend nights. Their prices are competitive and almost always lower than other places. Plus there's almost always at least one or two strange folks who make for scenic pleasure while browsing. HOWEVER, if you can't find a parking spot among the mere 12-15 spaces in front of their store, do NOT park behind the store. You WILL get booted and it will cost you $75. You think you won't, but you will. I promise. You don't stand a chance. They get a boot on your car within 20-30 seconds. I swear. If you can't find a spot to park here, find another store. Been an Atlanta staple forever and a day. Went in this pass weekend because they were the only package store that had the Grey Goose Cherry Noir in stock . Damn, this place is huge, well not huge in the Sam's Club kinda way, but they have almost anything you want. I asked the lady for the Goose and she says what size do you want? We have it in 5 different sizes. (insert popped eyes). I was a little turned off by one of the employees that was screaming something about paying a $1 for some birthday cake or pizza or something, and not getting her's but hey, i guess if you pay for something you want it. As I was leaving this same clerk was outside complaining to security about the same $1 issue. Made me want to give her a dollar, but I don't thinks she would have gotten far on a dollar, so I gave it to one of the "homeless" guys that was asking for change. Discount if you pay with cash or debit. Note to self, park in the Kroger parking lot if you can, makes it easier to exit the parking lot. read more

OMG!! Besides the GREAT selection of spirits inside this store, there a lady that works here name Nedra!! Ms. Nedra is an exceptional person and she's very helpful. I've come in twice with questions about what to mix, and should this or that be chilled etc. etc. and she's ALWAYS so helpful and she does it with a smile. Once I went in and I wasn't i. The best mood and some kind of way Ms. Nedra sensed my irritation and just the kind words she spoke brightened my day. I love the huge selection at Green's on Ponce but to have staff with great customer service like Nedra speaks volumes in today's world. I've stopped patronizing Green's. They have a great selection on Ponce but their service is indifferent at best. Here's what sealed the deal for me: I am over 65 and they insist on looking at your drivers license. That was absurd but I could deal with it. But then my license expired during the pandemic - and they refused to sell me beer because my license was "not valid." And of course during the Pandemic DDS was closed and you can't get the license renewed. They adhered to the policy rigidly. So what's the deal here - are they trying to verify age or trying to be cops? There are lots of other places to get the same products where they don't treat you like middle school kids. read more

I really enjoyed seeing the Green's barrel picks and plan on going back for some Four Rosws. As far Bourbon picks today as tried a Green's Dickle 9yr. Hope I like it!
