Never ate here before. My supervisor offered to get us lunch and she picked this place. We spent about $72. Upon entering I realized it was a grocery store. I had to figure out that the deli was in the back on my own because, well, nobody spoke when I walked in or asked if I needed help. I know I looked like I didn't know where to go. But eventually I figured it. I walked to the back and started reading the signs and saw pick up here, the girl at the counter didn't acknowledge me. A guy came out the "kitchen" and said "Picking up" "Yes, the name is..." He grabbed the bag from underneath the counter placed it on the counter and that was it. Not even a thank you. I'm just big on customer service and that was giving off like "what are you doing here" However the wraps we got were good. I've gone here for the deli/lunch counter probably a dozen times by now, but each one leaves me wanting more. It's good food for the most part, but invariably the food is way oversalted, the temp is wrong, or - and I'm not being dramatic - the portions are much smaller than expected. I could grab a wrap at gusto and walk away much fuller for the same price. If you look at the web site pictures versus what you get, they're not the same. Best sandwich: Most Excellent Pimento Worst sandwich: I ordered a grilled cheese and they gave me a single slice of kraft between 2 pieces of toast. I visited Candler Park Market in the Candler Park neighborhood to grab something for breakfast. I had my heart set on a "country styled" biscuit with thick country bacon and some eggs. The good: There is a sign outside that shows specials. The market has a section in the rear with food offerings It was easy to park for free this time of day. A nice, thick, country biscuit enclosed bacon and eggs. My sandwich was very good. The Bad The young man at the food counter seemed bothered by my questions and his facial expressions showed. Also, he could not answer any questions about the sandwich I wanted. The lack of 5 stars is because of the way the young man assisted (or did not) assist me. What a cute shop! Was waiting on a table at The Flying Biscuit Cafe, so decided to walk over to the market. They have a cafe and a general store with fresh produce, snacks, and housewares. It was such a treat to visit a neighborhood store like this. I wish more southern neighborhoods could have stores like this. The staff was friendly and helpful, I was eyeing the rose lemonade, and a store clerk told me more about it. She didn't steer me wrong, it was absolutely delicious and refreshing. My sister who lives in the are was excited to know about it, stating that the store was basically right down the street from her. When I'm in the area again, I'll definitely have to stop by again. read more

This has been my favorite place by far to stop in for a sandwich or breakfast bagel and will drive over from west midtown to do just this. I have tried the deli over the years, and it has been hit or miss. I hadn't been in a long while so decided to try it again. Today was a miss. They didn't follow the directions or put together a sandwich worth the price. We ordered online and checked all the boxes for our selected ingredients. My sandwich was supposed to have been on sourdough bread but was on wheat. Not a problem for some, but I am not supposed to eat wheat. Also asked for regular mustard. I got it -- about a half a bottle. There was mustard everywhere and more than anyone would put on a normal sandwich. My partner ordered an egg salad with tomato. The ingredients were correct but the tomato was smushy and super thinly sliced. Basically just colored the egg salad red. Nothing really awful but nothing really great either. Might as well go someplace that doesn't charge 12 bucks for the turkey sandwich with a barrel of mustard. It was Alon's bread... we suggest going to Alon's for the whole sandwich. read more

They have roaches like a lot of them all through your the store. As well as in the deli. Most of them time while I'm there they leave chicken out, potatoes, cooked food. All for flies or bugs to fly all over it.. Also over Heard- an employee by the name of Bobby if I'm not mistaken repeatedly say the N word out loud numerous times in front of customers and patrons and nothing has been done about it... I'm not sure if this is a fair review, because we came in here for a bottle of water, but we did walk around the store to just check things out. As others have mentioned, there's beer here, lots of bottles, a nice little deli in the back and in the truest sense of the phrase, it's a good convenience store. Staff were great, to the point where the clerk went on and on about the bottle of Beau - Tiful water ($1.65) purchase, letting us know it was bottled in North GA near Amicalola falls. Coo! It also helps that in this area, where parking can be scarce, they have their own lot. What I enjoyed was their outdoor tables, that all lined up against the wall so you could sit, people watch, eat a meal, or just talk and enjoy the day. On a whim, I stopped here on the way home for ice cream and cookies. I'd never been here but figured they'd have a decent selection. From the outside, ti's a modest store with a decent amount of locals who like to sit on patio furniture on the sidewalk. When I walked in, I was hit with an awful stench. Smelled like cat pee. It was so overwhelming that I cut my stroll through the aisles short and asked my husband to find what we came for. From what I saw, they had a decent selection of items that would be convenient for people within walking distance. TLDR: I would never go back. The store is a bit run down and the smell was pretty bad. If I lived nearby, I might consider stopping in for items that I needed in an emergency only. read more

I love my little neighborhood market I don't live as close anymore but I used to be in walking distance and would walk there for coffee almost everyday. I love the staff and the facility is always clean which a very important to me. Food: Best burgers and fries on the eastside in my opinion! All of the sandwiches are made with love to order as well. So, my experience here was meh...it wasn't good but it wasn't bad either. Lots of people wrote great reviews of the place about how the people were friendly. Maybe that is true on a regular Saturday morning but I did get greeted and nobody struck up a conversation with me. I was just in the area getting a new piercing checked so, I decided to check the place out while I waited. Anyway, I thought it would be a great place to get some more options since starting this blood type diet (or new way of eating). Well, because my list of things to eat are slim to none. I found some things but not nearly as much as I thought I would. I would definitely visit again but now that I know what to expect maybe my experience will be a little better. Although the experience was mediocre, I did buy some buckwheat soba noodles (new for me) and some mushroom seasoning type stuff (describable at the moment, but maybe I will be able to tell you more after I use it). This market is the essential place for just about anything you need when you're a Candler Park resident, or just visiting our fine neighborhood. Forget Kroger, unless there's something this market doesn't have- I'd rather shoot the breeze with these guys than blankly stare at some unhappy Kroger employee! Situated next to the newly remodeled Fellini's, this market has an eclectic mix of food staples, beers, wines, a small selection of fresh fruits and veggies, beauty supplies, and household items. They also have a frozen food section and they carry a lot of vegetarian stuff, which I love. The place is almost literally packed to the ceiling with almost anything you need- I was excited to see they even sell old-school fly swatters, I don't need one but I wanted to get the avocado green one that reminded me of my short-lived days in the 70's. It also has a deli in the back that is super busy at lunch. And I only think it's only open for lunch. The folks that work there are so much fun to stand around and talk to- they are all funny and extremely cool. And the mix of people who frequent the place always amazes me- from families with kids, to pierced and tatted-up girls, there's always someone interesting in there and stuff that you may or may not need. read more

I have been to the neighborhood market and have earned my right of passage to the neighborhood!! This place here is something else and if it had not been for Yelp I would have never known of it. This neighborhood market (while small) has all the things you need from dog food to wine to fresh fruits and veggies. All at a pretty reasonable cost! There is also a deli in the back that I need to try soon. The wine and beer selection is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! There are so many options to choose from it can be overwhelming. If feeling overwhelmed just go for the "Candler Park Market Wine Club" pack near the register. The customer service here is always outstanding! No matter what time of day I go or who is working at the register, I have never received less than 5 star service. I popped in the Candler Park Market last night in order to try out some dinner that I had been hearing about. There is a pop-up shop in the back called "Eat Me, Speak Me" that operates during Monday through Friday dinner only. In January the chef (Jarrett Stieber) will stop working out of Candler Park Market and start a pop-up lunch service at General Muir's deli counter. He is also starting a supper club under the same name. The food was fantastic! The portions are small, but a veg dish and meat dish will be more than enough for one and the 2 I got were less than $20 for the whole kit n' caboodle. I thought the veg dish was out of this world good. It was mushrooms with frisee, breads crumbs, persimmon, and something else. There was also a bit of hot sauce atop. Very flavorful. The persimmon added needed sweetness to the earthy dish. I loved all the different textures too. The other dish I got was chicken sausage with sweet potatoes. I'm not sure what else was in the dish, but it was quite interesting. The sausage was great. I do think this dish was a bit too sweet for me. It needed a little more balance. Either way I will be back to try and get my fill before this talented dude moves to a new location. read more

Wanna know the super secret spot the locals go for burgers or sandwiches? This is it. Hiding behind a rough looking exterior of a convenience store you will find a fantastic deli that deserves a stand alone shop. The deli is nestled in the back and oh my sweet Jesus is it worth the trip. It's got plenty for you carnivores (the burgers, I hear are delicious) but it has stuff for us vegetarians/vegans too. Take any deli sandwich on the menu and you can swap the animal for tofu! It sounds like such a simple concept but it's rare to find a deli that offers this. So I ordered the Californian on multigrain bread and swapped the turkey for tofu. I was worried that they were just going to slap some soggy cold tofu on there but much to my eating pleasure there was some braised (or baked?) tofu! It was So fresh and delicious! The bread tasted liked it was baked within the hour. If you're about to head out to a park for a picnic, this is the perfect place to pack your picnic basket, especially if you need a variety of sandwich options. It's also the perfect place picking up sandwiches for a road trip. read more

Candler Market carries the necessities including alcohol. The selection is not as huge as publix or krogers, FYI. I came in here to only purchase Arden's garden products since I am from Cincinnati and want to stock up. I also purchased food from the deli section and was very pleased. I can't believe I didn't know this perfect gem of a market existed. I think it's presence alone increases Candler Park property values! They have a phenomenal beer selection - aisles of craft 6 packs and single beers both cold and room temperature. Their wine selection is unparalleled! My partner used to be a fine wine distributor and was floored by the massive and wonderful wine selection. They sell a beautiful 6 pack of selected wines for $100 and change out the "variety pack" often. The Market carries produce, vegan selections, cheeses, everything you could need to host a gorgeous dinner. But if you're too lazy to put it together yourself or would rather just stop in for lunch, the back of the store has a deli! There is some pre-made food in a cooler, but they make fresh sandwiches, burgers, and dogs. You can literally FEEL the community in the Market. Highly recommend. I must express my overall satisfaction with this place. As a kid who grew up on neighborhood cartoon shows like Rocket Power and Hey Arnold it's amazing to finally come to a place that feels as familiar as those shows made their neighborhood stores. This isn't you're average store and you can be sure they'll have ALMOST anything you'll need. From cups or plates for the office to a Deli in the back which whips up some of the most amazing sandwiches your taste buds will come across...this place makes it easy to find an excuse to come back! The pricing at the Deli could be a bit better but being honest the convenience makes it worth it 9 times out of 10.
