A nice friendly clean place. Don't keep you waiting if you have an appointment. MK, my barber was gentle and friendly and easy to talk to. Only complaint is I don't seem to be able to get a REALLY close shave and all the little gaps and crevices addressed. I like to come off a barbers chair with a complete smooth face 11% everywhere. I have been getting my haircut at Saving Face since Anthony hung the sign out front. It has come a long way since then. More stylists, more services offered, expanded the waiting area, free wifi...the list keeps going. Saving Face is an extremely busy location. Because of this you may have to park on the road along the side street or at the Kinney Drugs in the reserved area. I do highly recommend using their webpage to book any appointments for this location or Manlius as a walk-in appointment could be an hour wait. The stylists (barbers) Here do not rush through the cut just to turn the chairs over. They take their time and give each client their best. There is a billiard table and several t.v. to keep you occupied while you wait and there is always good conversations to get involved with. Called them to see if they took walk ins. Told they do but the wait was 2 hours, so I made an appointment. Arrived 15 minutes early as I always do. Waiting room was empty, 2 barbers working. One finished and went into a back room. The remaining barber was chatting with his client, looking at the guys phone and not really cutting any hair. Sitting there in disbelief I noticed there were 3 other barbers in a backroom visiting with each other. Eventually those 3 barbers emerged from the backroom because the waiting room was now full. So...DEFINITELY make an appointment and ask for someone specific (Anthony, Taylor, Zach - based on other reviews). I went in with my two sons (6 & 10) without an appointment. While waiting, we watched another boy around 7-8 finish a truly amazing work of art cut with a Pittsburgh Steelers logo in the back - red, blue & yellow diamonds and all. We were pumped that we came to the right place. Our experience was different though. As walk-ins, we knew we'd be getting whichever barber happened to be available, which is fine. We were looking for and asked for a simple skin fade for both. The result was below average at best. There are clear and distinct lines on their heads from one level to the next. They look like they have a damn staircase on the backs of their heads. The barber used only clippers and attachments. He had zero skill and I can only assume he was their being trained and that they were his guinea pigs. At $14 a pop we paid $28 plus tip for haircuts they could've given one another for free - and much more entertaining. Bottom line - this place is probably the best place to go with the right barber. My biggest issue with the owner is the decision to put an unqualified barber in front of paying customers before they are ready. Have them do some for free with customer's consent until they get it right. It just doesn't reflect well for their professionalism or commitment to customer service. read more

My husband was referred to this place by the woman who does my hair. I made an appointment for him and reluctantly he went. Without putting him in front of a mirror, he cut...and cut....and cut....and it was high and tight but really almost no hair on the sides or back. Totally against his instructions.....my husband is no kid: he's 71!! Who does hair appropriate for a 14 year old on a senior citizen? Best barbershop I've ever been to. They have a bunch of tv's and a pool table if you have to wait around. Thirsty? They have a cooler filled with drinks that are pretty cheap. Best barber shop in Syracuse, hands down. I've known Anthony since high school, and he's always been beyond business savvy, and this shop is complete proof of that. The shop is what I would consider a local business executed perfectly, and I'm an entrepreneur myself. The professionalism, and overall experience is top notch. I have gone to Chris for years, and before that it was Anthony doing cuts in his basement, always talking about the day he'd get his own shop, and he's now out-done every shop I've gone to. Chris and Anthony are both the best at what they do, but I have complete confidence in every barber there to cut my hair. Something that not every shop has the ability to do. Every Barber Shop I've gone to, has that one or 2 guys you hope don't call your name to get in their chair. Saving Face doesn't have that. Saving Face has taken the barber shop experience to the next level. They are active in the community, they are constantly adding services and taking customer feedback to heart. They have an excellent selection of hair care products that are top of the line, and priced better than any big chain wholesale stores. I am giving my honest opinion here, moreso about the particular barber I had: Dylan I got to the shop a few minutes early and waited for my 12:30 appointment (which are for 30 minute time slots). I sat down in the chair at around 12:35. Now, while Dylan was relatively thorough with most of the cut (I did have to fix up a spot or two myself, including intentionally angled sideburns which I didn't notice at the time), he was quite rough with the tools. While it wasn't painful enough to bother bringing it up, it definitely wasn't comfortable. When he asked me what I wanted, I told him "a side swept fade" and he asked me if I wanted to start at a 4 or a 3 to which I responded 4, so we started at a 4. When he asked if it was short enough, I asked him to go a bit shorter, so he did. At the end of the cut, I wanted a bit more of a fade towards the bottom edge of my hair and he said that a fade would be an entirely different haircut and that what I had was a 4 all the way, which is what I asked for (I asked for a side swept fade) and that maybe next time I should clarify a bit more. He said that he would have to do it another time since he had another cut to do. Mind you, it was 12:55 at this point, in my opinion, more than enough time to put a fade guard on a clipper and clean things up a bit. Not to mention that he checked his phone (Instagram from what I could see) a few times during the cut. So all in all, I don't know what the experience is like with the other barbers, but this visit was quite unsatisfactory given the beaming reviews given by other people. read more

Haircut was decent.... until I asked the guy Dylan to shorten the sides a little, he actually said "I don't have time". I'm paying you to make time. You finish a haircut whether you go 6 minutes into another persons time slot or not. I'm from north jersey and if my original barber said that to one of his customers where I go, he would've been smacked across the mouth till he put the buzzer in his hand and made the sides tighter. I actually laughed at first cuz I thought the guy was making a joke. Absolutely terrible. Never goin back there again. read more
