All of the teachers for both the toddler and preschool/pre-k classes are caring, supportive and help each child thrive. The office staff has been great and communicative. They all know your child and love your child. Miss Wulan and Miss Ann Marie were her home room teachers and wow. These woman.. they don't make them like this anymore! Positive, loving, personal, engaged are only a few ways to describe them. They have been absolutely instrumental to Logan's growth and experience. She has thrived and become a social butterfly. Being a first time parent and transitioning your child from being with you 24/7 to daycare is tough, for child and parent alike. What I found incredibly helpful was the time Ms. Penny took to answer all of our questions and make us feel confident in our decision. The transition was very smooth, our little one runs to the door every time we say it's time for school. He often just runs straight into the classroom, already busy playing, a true reflection of his teachers' supportive and caring nature. He is confident and at ease, and what's been most surprising is how much his knowledge and learning continue to expand. From watching him dance with his classmates to fun tunes, to seeing him replicate that at home, or hearing him point to our eyes and ears and say the words, every day feels like he develops a new skill. His vocabulary and social skills are both continuously growing. Although leaving your child to go to work never gets easier, I have full peace of mind knowing he is in the right hands. We are constantly updated with pictures and videos from his day, along with fun events, dress-up days, learning milestones, and classroom activities. They also have an amazing backyard with real grass for the kids to run around in, and even a splash area during the summer. He would arrive everyday to class in tears, so we knew we had to find something new for him and that's when a family friend recommended Wilkins and it was the best decision we could make. If something so simple can't be updated makes one wonder if any of their state documenting is even updated and accurate. Staff professionalism is inconsistent. One employee in particular (Amanda - co-director) did not introduce herself to parents when entering or during pickup. Staff appear not to be cross-trained, and I questioned as to why a business as such would not cross train their employees. When asked about compliance with state childcare regulations, Amanda answered and then was caught on camera scrambling to update state licensing regulation items. I observed safety and sanitation issues: children were allowed on tables, cleaning supplies were within children's reach, and personal items were not consistently labeled. When I raised concerns on camera, staff were seen scrambling to remove or relocate multiple items out of compliance. The daily schedule posted for children's activities is frequently not followed. The facility does not post required notices when contagious illnesses circulate, form R9-3-307.D.1 and R9-5-515.F.1. Given these issues -- lack of clear communication, apparent noncompliance with licensing practices, inconsistent professionalism, and observed safety/sanitation lapses -- I would advise parents to think twice before entrusting their child to this location or the one on Riggs Road if you expect a professional, licensed daycare environment.
