Phillip is incredibly talented at what he does, and I have personally watched him put an enormous amount of time, effort, and care into his work and his customers. Balloon work and event decor are not as simple as people sometimes assume. There are countless moving pieces behind the scenes, and Phillip consistently goes above and beyond to make sure his clients' visions come to life. Over the years, I have worked with Phillip on numerous events and have also trusted HBC for my own celebrations. I have seen firsthand the long hours, early mornings, late nights, last-minute changes, and problem-solving that go into running this business. I have also seen Phillip bend over backwards to accommodate customers, often doing far more than what was originally expected of him. Of course, no small business is going to execute every single order perfectly 100% of the time, and unexpected circumstances can happen. But some of the negative reviews here simply do not reflect the Phillip or Hawaii Balloon Company that I have personally experienced time and time again. A single situation does not necessarily tell the full story of a business or the person behind it. HBC has been a part of countless celebrations in Hawaiʻi, and there is a reason people continue to come back. Phillip is creative, hardworking, generous with his knowledge, and genuinely cares about the work he puts out. My BF & I were at the Black Ties & Blue Jeans fundraiser for the American Heart Association when we came across their booth. As we were at a charity event they were charging $10 per flipbook. The line was insane so we stealthily waited until the middle of dinner to run back to the booth and get our flipbook made! See how you make everyone cray cray flipbooks! We picked out our random accessories from the props table and filmed seven seconds of video in front of a screen. It was awkward to the say the least because we had to make sure we didn't go out of the screen boundaries! I was completely amazed at how quickly they printed, cut and bound the flipbook. Dang, you cray cray flipbooks! I love my two flipbooks and it's a great way to capture the memory of a fabulous night at Black Ties & Blue Jeans! Not sure what's her name, but she was an older Caucasian lady. They were there for about 3 hours or so and never once did I see a line to get a balloon. Probably because 1 of many reasons.... 1. I witnessed one of my nephews trying to get a balloon and he had to explain to the lady why he was getting another one. **he should not have to explain to the lady why he needs another balloon. The balloons are unlimited for 3 hours! There wasn't a line. The lady was just sitting there. 2. My friend told me that she had to help my other 5 year old nephew get a balloon because the balloon twister refused to help him since she was unable to make the balloon he wanted. She just so happened to be next to the vendor and heard her tell him to "go get your mommy". Instead of showing him the balloon folder of what she could make, she just refused to make him a balloon. My friend went over to help him pick one from the folder of pictures . **I don't understand why she couldn't just show him the balloon folder to begin with... maybe she just didn't want to deal with him. They arrived early to set up and immediately went to work and were cranking out balloons and face paints non stop for 2 hours and the kids kept getting back in line giving them no time to rest.
