In a city rich with options for weekend brunch and diner fare, I cannot explain the popularity of Savoy. It must be a captive audience who have not ventured out beyond their familiar haunt. For a dish so easy as bacon and eggs, I cannot imagine they get people to pay for that more than once. Where to start.... The bacon: over cooked and twice dead. Crispy bacon is one thing, burnt to woodchips is another. The thick-cut bacon might have had potential once, but alas was nothing more than a salty crisp. Homefries: let's be clear, these were just cubed fries. No onions, peppers, seasoning, or flavor. No crispy exterior of fluffy interior. Just something that yearns for ketchup to be half edible. Toast: How do you screw up toast? How about it not being toasty? And what does this stellar experience cost you? About twice as much as any other diner in town. $11 for bacon and eggs!? That's what, $2 of ingredients and...$9 of waiting? I think not. read more

I've been going to the Savoy for a while now and the consistency is what makes this family owned restaurant great. I've been back at least 8 times since my last review, and after actually having a telephone conversation with the owner. (His request, not mine) I was quite impressed the issues raised in my review were that important to him. He gave me his word the issues would be addressed through Re-training of the entire staff. To his credit and my astonishment, I have no reason to believe that didn't happen, because the restaurant has the look and feel of being much cleaner than it did and the unsanitary habits witnessed gone. I've intentionally sat in certain vantage points to watch the drink station, and I've not seen one employee dipping cups into the ice as I had seen before. There are some now and then inconsistencies with the kitchen in terms of getting food out timely, but I have to say this restaurant feels solid again and back into our rotation for favorite breakfast stops. Again I have to give kudos to the owner for taking criticism so well, was not defensive, and actually made operational changes based on our conversation. I can't say I've had that experience with any business, let alone an established and reputable business like this one that could have relied on their name and reputation to maintain the status quo rather than hear a customer's concerns. How do you manage to simultaneously overcook and undercook a dish? I have been here a couple of times and I am never going back it's way overpriced for what it is it's just a greasy spoon breakfast place it looks like it hasn't been upgraded or cleaned since the Nixon administration . The silverware was Dirty there were crusty specs on the plates it took me forever to order because the waitress was too busy chatting it up a table of people she knew . The last time they're ordered their version of eggs Benedict with hash Browns it all came piled up on top of each other the hash Browns were cold not brown at all and tasted like raw potato the eggs were cooked to a rubbery consistency and the sauce was absolutely disgusting . this is one of those places that has been around for a long time is only getting by because history tradition for people who scratch their crotch that sniff their fingers i got a real racist vibe from everyone that works there . so if you have a thing for your sister and dropped out of school in the 4th grade and are looking for some place to tak.... rally then this is the place for you read more

Guys. Cinnamon rolls! The hype is real. You can buy them fresh, but make sure you get in early enough that they still have some! The also sell packs of 6 or 12 that are frozen if you prefer. These are so good! Now, the reason I took away a star was really for the hash browns. Admittedly, I'm pretty picky about them, but for me they were not good--kinda soggy, not very hot. The poached eggs were done PERFECTLY and the biscuits were also amazing. The pricing is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Parking fills, so be prepared to look around a bit. The service was absolutely amazing! My coffee never got lower than half full, and my server was super helpful. Especially considering it was my first trip to this restaurant. Another great find here was that they have gravy for your biscuits, but you can choose whether or not it contains sausage. I know most will like the sausage, but I just like simplicity at times, and I appreciated the ability to choose. Enjoy everyone! read more

I have only been here twice, (both times for breakfast) but really look forward to going back. Everything I have tried there is outstanding! One of my favorites was the biscuits and gravy, which I only tried a bite of (from my husband). When we returned for the second time, they were all out of biscuits. They offered us pancakes instead, blueberry or regular, and both kinds were fluffy and delicious. I look forward to going back for biscuits and gravy though. Of course the other favorite was the cinnamon rolls. I recommend sharing, or maybe taking some home for leftovers. One person could definitely eat it for their meal, or if they just get carried away. :) Both times I have visited, it was a Saturday morning, around 9am. The first time we didn't have any issues, but the second time they were out of biscuits and pecan rolls (I need to try this too!). So I recommend getting there earlier or coming on a different day. They were very packed, but we didn't have to wait too long for a table. Also, we had great service both times. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience, atmosphere, and especially the food. This means a lot coming from me, because I usually am not a fan of going out for breakfast. But I cannot wait to return to Savoy! read more

I am here from Txeas for a horse show. I am so glad I picked this place to try. I snagged a huge cinnamon roll per other reviewer's suggestion and enjoyed it with some really good strong coffee. I am an eggs benedict fan. The hollandaise is perfect! It's a great little cafe. The story about the name is cute. Originally called "Kelamis Cafe" and around since the 1930's, the owner, Tommy wanted a new sign. The sign shop had an unclaimed sign with the word "Savoy" on it at a discount. The owner bought the cheap sign and changed the name of his cafe. Obviously the name change didn't hurt the business, because that happened in 1954! read more

I am ashamed... Having lived in Tulsa off and on for the last 49 years, I am ashamed that I never have eaten here. It was suggested one morning by a co-worker and 10 minutes later we were there and 10 minutes after that I was a fan. I am all about breakfast. I am probably one of the most picky breakfast eaters out there, but when done right the cacophony of noise that accompanies bad food turns into the harmony consistent with a melody that soothes the soul. Alright, I know that was a bit flamboyant and overkill but breakfast is a serious business to me and Savoy hits all the notes. Had gone there for years; then we had a celebration breakfast with family and our legal advisor. As my wife had just finished a major cancer surgery of 10 hours, she had only 60 percent of her stomach remaining. We ordered and my wife ordered a child's plate and Veronica refused to place order and said you have to order from regular menu. We did not need to explain so we all got our orders but my wife refused to order based upon her attitude. None of us have returned and have found a new breakfast favorite that values our business. This has snow balled as our attorney has shared experience with others who too have gone elsewhere. When I called later to discuss with owner I was told he was not around. This place is famous for their cinnamon and pecan rolls - you likely want to call ahead and have yours set aside if you have your heart set on them. It was bumping when I arrived on a Saturday morning, and there's no hostess here - grab a number from the stand and wait until it's called. It only took about 15 minutes for us to be seated even though we were ten numbers behind when we grabbed our tag. No joke, the pecan rolls are the size of your face. Unless you're morbidly obese or looking to become so soon, don't plan on ordering one for yourself. I got one and was absolutely horrified to the point that the server (a nice, older gentleman who could likely tell from my yankee accent and look of shock) had to tell me that I would be able to handle it. I also ordered two eggs. There was some miscommunication - after bringing me two eggs on a plate, the server said "the rest of your plate will be coming out soon" - which I assumed was toast and hashbrowns, which were listed as sides to the egg and omelet dishes. After not getting it and being almost done with my eggs, I asked him if it was coming out soon. He then replied "Oh, I just ordered you the eggs since you seemed so overwhelmed by the pecan roll." Ummmm.... ok.... It was no big deal since I was by this time stuffed beyond exhaustion, but I was confused about why he earlier told me I would get more. Savoy is an amazing Tulsa breakfast experience. Everything I tried was delicious. I had blueberry wheat pancakes, and despite how they might sound, they tasted heavenly. I also got to try the biscuits and gravy. Savoy has the best biscuit I have ever had. Seriously. The. Best. The coffee is fresh and local (double shot), and the service is fantastic. We were there on a busy Saturday morning, but were seated quickly. The whole restaurant was very well-run and felt welcoming and friendly. The manager checked up on everyone's table, but not just like an obligatory drive-by. It really seemed like he wanted to make sure that you were having the best experience possible. We went for brunch. It's a seat yourself kinda place with a diner feel. Our server took our drink orders and we looked over the menu. The server was friendly and funny. This cinnamon roll was huge! It was really yummy. It would have been better if it was microwaved for 10 seconds but still yummy. I ordered the California skillet. It comes with either two biscuits and a bowl of gravy or pancakes. This was waaaaay too much food for me to eat in one sitting. I recommend splitting a cinnamon roll and the skillet. I originally considered giving a 4 star rating because our drinks ran out a few times but everything else was so good. read more

Read all the reviews and had to try it out. Came in and Bill (I think the owner) sat us get our drinks and served us. I had the Monday special. MEATLOAF. Yes meatloaf. Didn't think I would enjoy it a much as I did but it really took back to my child hood. It was tender and covered in a sauce to die for. The fresh cut fries were perfectly cooked and the green beans had the same sauce as the meatloaf. Great service and great food. I would tell anybody I meet to check this place out. read more

Using Yelp, we decided to have lunch here today. It was excellent!! All three of us had the BLT's, and they were all delicious. The fries were some of the best I've had. For a breakfast place that cracks thousands of eggs a week, the overcooked poached eggs on the Benedict was disappointing and unforgivable. Add that to the unevenly toasted bread, burnt one side/barely touched on the other, that was served best side up in order to hide the incompetence of the cook, and you have one of the worst breakfast places in town. I'm new here in Tulsa. The service was great and our server (Abel) was awesome! But I was not impressed with the food. I ordered an veggie omelet. The veggies were not mixed wit the eggs. It appeared as if the eggs were cooked separately and the veggies were added to the center. We ordered the cinnamon roll because this restaurant is known for the cinnamon rolls. Well we were underwhelmed with it as well. It is definitely shareable size but I was not blown away by the taste. I saw all of the great reviews and was kind of disappointed. read more
