We love Sawmill!!! Spent most nights there during our two week trip to Darby since the food was so amazing!! Seriously hidden gem of a chef as everything we had was fantastic!!! Also a great atmosphere! We loved interacting with the locals as well as visitors!! Some nights you will get live music. Some nights you can control the juke box. Some nights the bartender will control the music. Mike and Lucas were great and they always welcomed us with asking if we wanted our normal drink. Again you can not beat the food and atmosphere here. So not being from the area, I would never choose to go to Sawmill but I was out on a sales call with my boss, who is from the area, and he decided to go here for lunch. He mentioned that several years ago, we would not be welcome here because it was a "lumberjack" bar. But once the timber industry went away, it's now just a regular bar. The front entrance doesn't exactly scream "Welcome". It's a screen door with a weird white metal door. Once inside, it's clear this is a dive bar. Chainsaws hanging from the ceiling and country music played constantly. Kind of reminded of dive bars in Wisconsin. I opted for the crunchy chicken wrap and a Fat Tire. I was surprised by the wrap. It actually was quite tasty. And the beer was cold so that's always a plus. It was a decent lunch. Nothing more. Nothing less. read more

Have been to this establishment multiple times. They have a high turn around with their staff. The owner and his girlfriend are very rude. They expect you to tip them as if they gave you the best service even after they just chewed out an older couple right as you were walking in. One day you'll get great service. I have NEVER been treated so poorly at a business in my entire life. My fiancé, his friend, and I walked in the the place just hungry and looking for pizza, maybe a beer. I walked up the the counter and started to ask if they had pizza and as I started my sentence the bartender (female, late 30's, long brown/auburn hair with straight across bangs, on the skinny side) immediately cut me off and said, "we're going to have to start with some ID's before we can go any further". Even though it was 2:30 pm and even if we were underaged (which we aren't), we should have been allowed in there until 9pm so ID's weren't necessary at that time. My fiancé hands her his ID. It's a little dirty because he works outside but definitely readable (his ID has ALWAYS been accepted anywhere we go). She says, "you've got to be kidding me" because it's dirty. She says that she can't accept it because she can't even read it yet everyone else that has ever checked his ID has been able to. We ask if she can get someone else to take a look and she screams, "Nope, I'm not playing this game" and literally runs off in the back so we can't even talk to her anymore. She didn't even bother to check my ID. We go over next door to see if we can get some food and turns out the bar and the restaurant are connected. The same bartender comes RUNNING out and again, before we could get a word out, says, "I already checked his ID and we can't accept it". WE JUST WANTED PIZZA. Then she runs always again. The lady at the restaurant said she could serve us on their side and was polite the whole time. However, we were never offered an apology by anyone or any type of compensation. The bartender was rude before we could even get a word out which makes me think there was some sort of prejudice thing going on. Even if the ID definitely wasn't acceptable (which it was), the fact that she was cutting us off, yelling at us, and running away so we couldn't talk to her is absolutely unacceptable. We will certainly be spreading the word about this place. read more
