Wildwood is a part of the Harvest Host program which is how i found them, and man am I glad I found them!! I'll start out saying that it's off the beaten path, lol, down a short path of the main road that looks like it doesn't go anywhere but it leads to this amazing building built by the owner of the brewery. The beer is all organic, with a small yet wonderful selection and you can tell it has been brewed with love and is great!! The Yippee IPA and the Ambitious Lager are both amazing. The interior of the building is a sight to see!! From my conversation with Jim (the owner) most of the material was reclaimed or locally sourced. It's absolutely beautiful! The ambiance is wonderful as you are sitting right next to the fermentation and brewing tanks and a wood brining furnace. The attention to detail that was put into this building is amazing! Alright, this might sound staged... but literally the best beer in Montana and Colorado. The look inside is like a hobbits heaven with dark lit ambience which is amazing! The beer is limited, but the best beer I have ever had. Service is by the owners so passionate and caring. Such an amazing experience. Only issue would be finding this place, tucked away and out dated marketing, but with a little community help I think this place needs to be protected at all costs. Best beer in Montana hands down. Discovered this wonderful brewery through Harvest Hosts. will definitely stop again when passing through and would even go well out of my way to stop again. The organic beer is amazing and outstanding. The pizza crusty and delicious. i wished we lived in town as this would be our regular go to place. The Ambitious Lager and the Bodacious Bock were our two favorites. Wildwood wins you over with its award-worthy combination of aromatically-enticing organically-crafted beer, ecofriendly interior, community-friendly vibe, and its impressive mastery of German and American brewing traditions. This is not a fancy place, unless you know where to look: high-end milling and brewing equipment made to order or imported from Germany; ultra-clean restrooms (replete with live plants and actual natural light); weekly food, music, and film nights; and quality, beer-appropriate glassware (that get rinsed with fresh water before being filled from attractive-looking taps). Maybe it's all that unpretentious attention to detail that gets you hooked, or the first floral notes that emerge from your Maibock or Weizen, or the great artwork on the aluminum can 4-packs. Maybe it's the strawbale construction or the carved wooden entrance door or Bavaria-meets-the-Bitterroots look to the exterior. Maybe it's the friendly, worldy locals and staff who are happy to share stories and suggest beer options for that second or third round. Or the dirt parking and simple signage that directs you to the brewery/tasting room as you drive down US-93. Or the mountain views, or the cottownwoods and cattle fields and deep, blue skies overhead. I suppose that great beer tastes great no matter where it's consumed, and Wildwood beer is fairly widely available in the area. But something tells me that drinking it here, mere hopsteps from its place of birth, is really the best way to go. If you like a certain estate-grown wine you've had in a restaurant or bar, eventually you want to visit the place where the grapes grew and wine aged in cool, dark barrel rooms. Frog's Leap in Napa comes to mind. WIldwood is kind of like that, and if you enjoy craft beer while you're adventuring through Western Montana, I'd definitely add the 'Wood to your bucket list. read more

Surprised they are still in business. Won't be for long. Only thing going for the place is their outdoor space which is not maintained very well....to put it mildly. We went figuring kids would enjoy the outdoor area to run free. Until the owner came and picked up all tennis rackets and balls putting them away saying he doesn't have the place "kid-proofed". Also, he was concerned the toddlers would break the PVC ladder ball sets. What?? News flash: breweries in Montana are kid-friendly. Not this place. It's no surprise that Blacksmith is packed and this place is vacant on a Friday night...in the summer. Go to Blacksmith in Stevensville or Fins Taphouse in Corvallis over this place any day. Best brewery in town! And that's saying something because it's not the only one considering the size of the town. Every time I visit home, Wildwood is always on my list of stops. Generally, when I see "organic" beer, I think "probably not very good" but this is good beer! I love their Bodacious Bock. It's one of my favorites.
