I had…read morebeen to 3 other eye doctors, one of them a keratoconus specialist, and I was never able to get lenses that were comfortable enough for me to wear more than a few hours. They either got foggy before lunch or actually hurt. I read about Dr. Bass on a Facebook keratoconus group and made an appointment. I am so glad I did. He and his staff are so nice. He tried some tester lenses on me in his office and found the right fit for me. When the lenses with my prescription came they were great, but Dr Bass thought he could get them better, and he did. I can wear my new lenses all day long with no fogging and no pain and I can see so much better than I could with my glasses. If you need a new eye doctor definitely give Dr. Bass a try.

WARNING! These are…read morethe facts: I just walked out of an appointment. They claimed they took my insurance; I made an appointment. Arranged to take time off work to come here. I arrive and they tell me that I have to pay a $39 fee for some random eye scan technology. AND it is not covered by insurance. They will not take no for an answer. I read the paperwork, and it said it was required. They said the Dr will not see you unless you agree and get the scan. So, I left. Those were the facts. This is not an opinion. This is what literally happened to me. The following is my opinion based on consumer protection, patient care and ethical principles: This is the issue: They wait until you are there to tell you. This was not told to me on the phone when I made the appt. They could have told me it was required. But they prey on people who, like me, took time off of work so the people feel desperate. Very predatory. I have paid my eye insurance money so that I can get a visit there for no charge. That was what the agreement with the provider and the insurance company was. In my life, I have never had this eye scan done. I don't care if the "dr" thinks it's great. It's an attempt to open your wallet. I have had it offered by other optometrists and it is always OPTIONAL. In fact, Eyeworks, down Hulen, offers this scan for the same price but it is OPTIONAL. NOT REQUIRED. This is the age of surcharges, fees, taxes and tips. DO NOT GO HERE. There are plenty of other optometrists in Fort Worth that do not attempt to tack on last minute charges. Oh! Also, while I was in the facility, the people locked the door. Maybe for safety? However, this is against OSHA law and against fire code. Please consider that as well. If the place catches on fire, you are locked in.

I won't name names, but the eyewear ordering process has been a complete disaster. I ordered new lenses for my existing frames, and here's what happened: 1. The lenses didn't fit my frames, even though I left them there. I waited two weeks for a reorder. 2. The reordered lenses arrived, but they were not the transitions I had requested. Another reorder, another two-week wait. 3. When the lenses finally arrived, they had been shaved down too much and didn't fit properly--yet another reorder and another two-week wait. To make matters worse, I later found out they had actually received the lenses on March 10th, but no one informed me. It was only when I followed up on March 19th that they finally located them. Throughout this ordeal, there were no updates or follow-ups. After this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere--I've heard great things about Costco.

I looked at Benbrook/Fort Worth reviews and found De Grasse & Ratliff Eye Center - what a blessing! Everyone I encountered at De Grasse & Ratliff Eye Center was pleasant, assistive, and professional. My optometrist was Dr. Chad Carter. He took his time with me and was careful and thorough during the examination. He recommended and used lenses to demonstrate how the changes would impact my vision quality. While waiting to see Dr. Carter, I decided to review their extensive selection of frames. Mandy Roger-Gay, a Lead Optician, introduced herself and assisted me in finding frame options. My choices were made with her assistance before the exam (I knew I would need new frames as mine had broken). I have worn prescription eyewear for almost 60 years, since second grade. I have never had a more thorough and informative eye exam than the one conducted by Dr. Carter. I have never enjoyed more assistance and courteous service than Mandy's. Mandy took her time to measure for bi-focal lines carefully and made beneficial suggestions to ensure my new eyewear would provide me with the support I need to live and work with good eyesight. I am delighted I chose to drive the thirty miles to experience this level of friendly and professional service. Worst Eye Exam Experience…read more This was by far the worst eye exam experience I've ever had, starting with the front office. I simply did not feel welcomed, and the entire visit felt rushed from beginning to end. I was charged two separate fees during my initial visit because I had an exam for both contacts and glasses, even though I believed these services were covered by my insurance. When I later called to make a simple adjustment/addition to my prescription, I was told I needed to come back for another eye exam--and another fee--even though I had been seen less than four months ago. To make matters worse, the representative I spoke with over the phone quoted me the wrong cost for the exam, which added even more frustration and confusion to an already disappointing experience. I've already called to express my concerns and file a complaint, but nothing was done to resolve the issue. Now I'm being charged again for an eye exam within four months of my previous appointment. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service, communication, pricing information, and way this entire situation has been handled. I expected much better from an eye care provider and will not be returning.
