The bartender was attentive and kept my drink full. She noticed that I struggled getting ketchup out of the bottle and immediately brought me another bottle and threw the old bottle away. There were seemingly a bunch of "usuals" at the bar that the bartender seemed to know well. So the locals must come frequently. I would go back if in the area again in the future. read more

Great food with very reasonable prices. They do full wings which are very good and you can order any amount that you want doesn't necessary have to come as 5 or 10 etc. the pizza is very good also and they have a pierogi pizza which is unique but delicious if you're looking for something different. The pepper Jack cheese balls is a delicious appetizer. Most importantly the menu is very reasonably priced which is something rare now a days. There is a ton of options to eat for a good deal. The atmosphere is good also as you can choose to eat in the dining room or the bar area. The service is good as the waitresses and bartenders are pleasant. We stopped for a late lunch. Reuben sandwich with fries as a lunch special. Ec Ella t meal. A lot of meat, enough for2 people. The fries are coated but are hot and very crispy. If I had to guess the five star reviews on here are from the owners or locals who get a free beer out of it. Let me set the record straight. There are not many other restaurants nearby. When you pull up the place looks awful. You might want to put it in reverse and leave immediately. You would be correct. Leave immediately no matter how far you have to go for food. Here, PRAY AFTER YOU EAT. Yes it is that bad. Do not be confused when you see multiple dishes offering "flank steak" as an ingredient. They are really cooking with Steak-Um's!!! Had lunch with a friend, and we walked into what I thought was little more than a divey place (she'd been here before, but I hadn't). The server was very nice, prompt and polite. My husband and I tried this place for the first time and it was by chance that I even stumbled upon it because the first 3 restaurants were closed on Tuesdays. I can't not tell you enough how happy I am that the other restaurants were closed. The food was so good. I got the crab cake dinner with a side salad and baked potato. The crab cakes and baked potato were cooked to perfection. The side salad was small but mighty. It had everything in it and the house ranch to top it off! So good is a huge understatement! My husband got the spaghetti dinner with a side salad and garlic bread. The sauce was spot on and the meatballs were amazing! It truly tasted like home if you know what I mean. Steak hoagie was to die for , huge and had lots of veggies in it as well. Buffalo chicken wrap was very good sized and tasty . Fries were kinda iffy with the flavor of them . I have been to the Saxon Inn many times over the past few months, and typically I eat in the bar area but the latest time, we ventured to the dining room. Now that I have the total picture of the Bar and Restaurant, I wanted to post a review. Atmosphere: The dining room, based on what I hear, is newly renovated and is decorated with a rustic country pictures and trinkets. It actually reminds me of a little more country Cracker Barrel. It is very clean and extremely relaxing. The only odd thing about it is every table has a "Door Bell", and at any time, you can ring it if you need anything. Really we rang it once when we first sat down and that was all we needed to because the waitress was very attentive. She did say if we needed anything and she wasn't there, to just ring. Beer: Not that I am a regular, but I always get the Amber Bock that they have on tap. They do also have a few others on tap and for the size of the bar they have a nice selection of micro-brews in bottles also. Food: The Saxon Inn is known for its homemade soups, but I have never tried any. With this trip, I stuck with bar food and had the French Dip sandwich which came with fries, wings and cheese ball appetizer. The Cheese Ball appetizer was great. You can't go wrong with bite size cheese sticks. The wings were perfectly cooked and we went with their special Saxon Inn seasoning and overall we really enjoyed them. The French Dip was also a great choice. There was plenty of meat on it and the au ju had a great flavor and was not too salty. Pros: It is very clean. The service was really good and the food hit the mark for the prices. Cons: I'm going to reach for a con...Not the biggest fan of their French fries. Wish they were fresh cut fries. The other thing is that bothers me is that they don't have a website and do everything through Facebook. I think a website publicizing the bands and events along with their menu would do wonders for them. Conclusion: I'll be back. It's convenient to where I live and I enjoy the atmosphere. I would recommend the bar for adults and the restaurant for families. Very cute resterant although from the outside you might not choose to go in. Looks like old bar but not that at all. Home made soups and meat loaf are very good. You have to go in (if you get there early) and sit at a table and ring the bell at the table, sounds weird but works fine... Problem is you would not know that if you haven't been here before. Great little place tucked back on Saxonburg Blvd. Nice size bar on one end and a cozy dining room on the other side. Lots of homemade/made from scratch food. Excellent Gyros and Wings. Great soups. Always have specials too. Bar has a solid selection of beer plus typical lineup of spirits. It's deceiving from the outside but worth checking out! The food took a looonng time to come once we ordered, a little over an hour. There were only 3 of us and all we ordered were sandwiches. I got a turkey sandwich with french fries and gravy on the side. The turkey sandwich was like someone too two slices of regular bread and lunch meat turkey from a store and threw it on there. The french fries are horrible grease sticks that taste like $hit! I got the gravy on the side, thank God! It was so thick, gloopy, and also tasted terrible. No music, place seemed dirty, and the price was wayyy too much for what you get... $9!? The waitress never once apologized for the long wait or checked to see if we needed anything. If you want a terrible meal with crappy fries that takes a long time to come then go there. Otherwise I would steer clear of this place! This place has changed. I ordered my favorite dish there (spaghetti dinner). The spaghetti took at least 40 minutes to get to our table. Then when I got it , it wasn't the spaghetti that I use to get. The noodles were over cooked and the sauce was left over hot sausage sauce! How do I know you ask? Because there was a piece of hot sausage in the sauce. Now as for the meat ball, it wasn't really a meatball...it's was a piece of ground meat the must have thrown together at the last minute when I ordered it. I use to eat at the Saxon inn all the time. Sorry I just have to express. Seriously they told me I had 10 beers on 4/29/2018 and I disagree with that. They right away got offensive and said don't come back (which rises curiosity), No issue with that if I get ripped off why would I go back. I feel if I had 10 beers in 2 and a half hours I was there I would be trashed seriously. they right away bring up the last time I was there saying I questioned the bill but I buy others beers and things, My intention was to make sure it was all there. after an 75$ bill there I have no issues W/20% and simply asked did you charge me everything. They bring it up like I questioned it in harm, that was not my intention, but this time it was because if I drank 10 beers in 2 and a half hours (max) I would be trashed, I only agree to 7 at best! and buying dude one. for the one I buy him they charged me for the beer I buy and then 2.50 for the chip to give him WTF! does that mean, I already buy him the beer it's 2.50 for a chip? because I owe him one I get charged? and he never got it or take the slip home to redeem it at another time, which is bull crap too, because he should of got it 2 beer ago my buddy had, I asked and he say he didn't understand when pouring the beer. I am just tired of getting Fucked I work hard and make good money but NO more will anybody take advantage (even if I am a millionaire or billionaire) I don't care if it is a dime over paid. you may think it is wrong but make shit right that is part of your job. Beware of dining here when the place is "half" occupied or more. Although the food is good, it is not worth the almost 90 minute wait to receive it. This has happened to us on two occasions. I'm hopeful others who have experience the same will be willing to add their voices. This should not happen in a half filled restaurant. Try to provide honest input to ownership and it is met with argument. And Like us ..... you may even be told to take your business elsewhere. They certainly don't offer the service and customer sensitivity that the website proclaims. We got kicked out after waiting over and hour and half for our food. So we have been told by my family that the food was good here so we decided to try it out. Guess I will never know how the food is cause we got kicked out. After waiting 90 minutes to get soup we asked to talk to the manager about where our food was. The manager came out and explained its because they had so many orders of chicken wings and can only cook 12 at a time. Then she preceded to blame her waitress for the wait. We expressed how we dont think they need to blame the waitress and things got ugly from there. The cook or many owner came out at this point and states how people wait 2 hours at olive garden for bad food but its a big deal to wait here. We explained we dont mine waiting but someone needs to explain to use why it take 90 minutes to get soup? They went again on the chicken wing thing and then the other tables in the restaurant chirped up and say we didnt order chicken wings and we have been waiting for over a hour as well. This made the older lady angry and she yell fine I will comp your meal. We stated that we dont want to have our meal comp we just wanted to know when it would be ready because its 8 oclock now and my young baby needs to go home and go to sleep. She again tried to talk about olive garden and I explained that I have no problem waiting for good food but you need to set expectations for your customers that the wait is going to be long...especially when there was only 5 tables full in the restaurant. This pissed her off and she told us to get out and we dont get food. we stated we wanted to pay for it and take it home and she wouldnt let the wait staff bring it out to us....she simply told us to get out. If you cant take feedback ...and you make your customers wait hours for food...you arent going to make it long in your industry. I think this place is better as a bar only! read more
