Great place to meet family and friends for a drink and dinner with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Large selection of food offerings, and the beverage menu is huge. (Six pages!). We started our dinner with the crab dip (came with pita slices), and crunchy brussel sprouts. (They weren't so crunchy.). I had the Fried Chicken sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes. It was a generous portion and was pretty good. My wife had the Chopped Cobb salad, which she enjoyed. I had a Mocha coffee for dessert.

Been here several times in the past and various times this month. Food is still yummy. Gorgonzola hummus was a delight. Smoked wings tasted so good. Mussels were very tasty. Drinks are still good. Love the variety of cocktails available. Beer is nice and cold and plenty to choose from. Happy hour is great! Unfortunately, happy hour at the bar is a bit lacking in customer service. Not attentive at all. We had to keep flagging down whoever was in the bar area for drinks and food. This was a game changer for us. This last time we were planning to order meals and stay longer but decided to move on after the lackluster service. Wish we didn't feel like we were "bothering" the servers when we needed something. Still a great local place to bring out of town visitors.

We had SUCH high hopes for this place. After talking with friends we had to try it. We came in around 745 on a Thursday and were seated quickly. We ordered drinks and food. The server was very pleasant and delivered things promptly. The wings were not good- very gummy. I'm not sure if they smoke them then fry them or what but they need to rethink those. The tomato soup was great. I got a burger and my husband got a crab cake sandwich. Both were just okay. If we're in the area we might stop back but we probably won't go out of our way to visit.

Wonderful establishment with great service. I had the beet salad with salmon and their peach old fashioned. The salmon was a slightly on the small side compared to other salmon salads I've had but still tasty. I would get the salad again and ask for the dressing on the side as there was a bit too much for my taste. It was clean and had a nice casual vibe.

Breakneck Tavern is a restaurant and bar that has a casual atmosphere, excellent service, and solidly good food. The menu includes foods such as soups, salads, burgers, tacos, BBQ ribs, crab cakes, filet mignon, scallops, lamb, and creme brûlée and beverages such as beers, cocktails, whiskeys, and wines. Please see my attached photos for the menu in February 2024. My husband and I had a reservation for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived after 11 AM, and many tables were available. A seating hostess kindly greeted us and soon seated us at a spacious and clean table. Our waitress spoke very nicely to us and provided timely and accurate service. Here are my husband's and my reviews for our foods: Crab dip - 4 stars - This crab dip contained not only crab but also corn, red peppers, and spinach. On the side were several pieces of Cajun-flavored pita bread. This dip and pita tasted good, but my husband commented that he would prefer that it not contain corn. Bison burger - 4 stars - The bison patty was cooked medium as I had requested, and it was topped with fresh lettuce, onion, cheese, horseradish mayonnaise, bread, etcetera. I ate most of it. For my side, I chose French fries, and they were properly fried and seasoned. Fried-chicken sandwich - 4 stars - My husband ended up taking the chicken out of the bread buns and eating only the chicken. My husband chose a side of onion strings. He said that this entree was good. If I return to the Mars area again, then I would feel happy to try more of Breakneck Tavern's foods. Maybe I will try their crab cakes and ribs in a future dinner...

I was surprised a restaurant with tavern in the name would be open for breakfast, but they have a very good breakfast menu and even a delicious apple cider mimosa. The food was very good & service was friendly. It's a lot higher than I expected and I like the decor a lot.

A wintery Saturday calls for a satisfying meal, and Breakneck never fails. The burger is seasoned to perfection and truffle mayo is a perfect touch. So many levels of flavor. The Brussels sprouts serving size is smaller than before, but the flavor never fails. Perfect char and the lemon aioli makes for the perfect bite. My wife said the salmon with cauliflower rice was fantastic. Very light yet tasty and satisfying. Breakneck was and will always be one of my favorites. Delicious elevated bar food with such a cozy, rustic inside made sipping a Pinot Noir a great time. The place was packed, yet service was still excellent. Food was awesome and drinks - Pinot Noir and Espresso Martinis - kept arriving in a timely manner.

Excellent food! We started with the wings (the secret sauce was incredible) and then had chicken and salmon for the entrees. Very well priced and great quality food. We'll definitely be coming back! The service was great and we're looking forward to coming back to try more food and enjoy the outdoor seating!

First visit was on a gorgeous Thursday evening in May during Happy Hour. Of course, the best appetizer, the charred Brussel sprouts were not one of the HH specials but so worth the full price! Also amazing was the Gluten-free Raspberry chocolate torte with fresh raspberries and whipped cream by Pastry Chef, Mariah Jane (and those who know me, know that is not a compliment I give out freely). There are several sections of seating. We sat in one of the handful of booths on the bar side with mostly high-top tables. There's an enclosed patio and also an outdoor patio. The parking lot was nearly full by the time we left at the end of HH. Most customers were middle aged. Service was good and the place was clean. I'd definitely return for HH and dessert.

Had dinner with my mom and it was great. The food was great and our server was super nice and helpful. The fish sandwich wasn't too greasy which was great. I love how it looks like a little boat house inside. I love the aesthetic, it makes you feel like you're on the water but really you're in Mars, PA.

By no means was it bad but it was definitely not as good as the event. A ham and apple sandwich was good very light so don't be too hungry if you order it or maybe order a extra side of something I enjoyed the apple I feel like it really added to the sandwich. The scramble was all right, not necessarily my taste, but there was nothing exclusively wrong with it. The bread tasted really fresh though. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie as a sweet treat to go, however, I didn't finish it because it was dry and lack flavor. The reason it's getting four stars instead of three is definitely the ambience being able to enjoy my meal in the greenhouse is definitely the biggest flex they have. It's so beautiful and even though it was a cold day, I was good. I did see that they have blankets in case it's extra cold for your convenience which I appreciated. I would come back for the ambience of the greenhouse and giving the food one more try before I strictly go for greenery.

Examples of menu items are appetizers (e.g., shrimp cocktail and nachos), soups, salads, wings, burgers, flatbreads, entrees (e.g., pasta primavera, chicken, duck, pork chop, swordfish, and A-5 wagyu), desserts (e.g., limoncello and cheesecake), and drinks (e.g., mocktails, cocktails, wines, whiskeys, and beers). My husband and I have eaten here twice--once for lunch last year and once for dinner this year. Both times, we enjoyed the employees' service and the foods. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Passionfruit-Paloma Mocktail - 4 stars - sour. Spring Sangria - 4.5 stars - slightly fruity. Jumbo Pretzel - 5 stars - huge size with beer cheese and mustard sauce. French Onion Soup - 5 stars - This soup had a rich broth, onions, and cheese. Ybor Cuban sandwich - 4.5 stars - nicely crunchy toast with tasty pork, ham, and Swiss cheese and a side of crispy onion rings. Salmon - 5 stars - I ordered this entree both times. The salmon was perfectly cooked and came with flavorful farro grains, cherry tomatoes, and asparagus. Filet Mignon - 5 stars - This 8-ounce steak was cooked mid-rare as my husband prefers. It came with whipped potatoes and his choice of au poivre style (black pepper crusted with bourbon cream).

Excellent Food in a Family-Owned Spot, But Transparency, Noise, and a Few Service Touches Need…read morePolishing (4/5 Overall)** I visited Wexford Public (12087 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA) recently for dinner with my family, drawn by its reputation as a locally owned, chef-driven American restaurant in the heart of Wexford. Owned by longtime locals John and Melanie Dober, it positions itself as a warm, community-focused spot blending upscale comfort food with a welcoming vibe--think handcrafted sandwiches, premium Black Angus steaks, fresh seafood, flatbreads, and daily specials, all with thoughtful wine and bourbon selections. We were excited for what promised to be a polished neighborhood gem, and in many ways, it delivered. The food was genuinely great and the clear highlight. Our dishes were flavorful, well-executed, and creative without being fussy--fresh ingredients shone through, portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and beautifully plated. It's easy to see why so many reviewers rave about the crab cakes, steaks, and chef specials; the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. This is elevated American fare that feels special yet approachable, and we'd happily return just for the meals. That said, a few aspects fell short and left us feeling the overall experience wasn't quite as seamless as the food deserved. First and foremost, the billing transparency issue was disappointing. They add a 3% bank/credit card processing fee to the check (which adds up quickly on a family dinner), but this isn't disclosed on the menu, at the table, or in any obvious way during the ordering process. There's only a small sign posted outside the restaurant. We only noticed it when the bill arrived, and it felt like an afterthought rather than a clear policy. In an era where many restaurants are upfront about surcharges (or absorb them), this lack of disclosure came across as sneaky and detracted from the otherwise positive value perception. The atmosphere was another mixed bag. The space itself is attractive--soft lighting, comfortable seating, and that friendly "upscale brew pub" energy the owners aim for. However, it was noticeably noisy during our evening visit. Conversations required raised voices, especially as the dining room filled up, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal fully. OpenTable rates the noise as "moderate," but on our night it tipped louder than that, possibly due to the layout or lack of sufficient sound absorption. A bit more attention to acoustics could make a big difference. Service was mostly attentive and efficient, but the management interaction stood out in a negative way. When we politely mentioned the surprise fee at the end of the meal, the response was an apology that felt scripted and insincere--like it had been delivered many times before without real follow-through or ownership. It didn't leave us feeling heard or valued as guests. On a brighter note, the owners John and Melanie genuinely come across as lovely people. The restaurant has that personal, homegrown touch you can sense even when they're not physically present, and locals speak highly of them. They were absent during our nighttime visit, though, which is understandable for owners juggling a busy operation--but their warmth is missed when the front-of-house team is handling everything solo. In summary, Wexford Public excels where it matters most: the food is consistently excellent and worth the trip on its own. The family-owned charm and diverse menu make it a strong neighborhood choice for special occasions, casual dinners, or even happy hour in the cocktail bar. However, clearer communication about the credit card fee (ideally on the menu or bill upfront), better noise management, and more authentic handling of guest concerns would elevate it from very good to outstanding. We'll likely go back for the cuisine, but with tempered expectations on the finer details. If you're in the Wexford area and prioritize great American plates, it's still a solid recommendation--just check the small print before you pay.
