I got the breakneck burger with mashed potato's for dinner. It was good but nothing special. It.had way too much seasoning and it tasted a little too much like the grill. It's always weird to me when the mash potatoes are scooped out like you're at an institution. Smash them down a bit, just a suggestion. My wife got the chicken with risotto. Good chunk of chicken and a fair amount of risotto but woah.... Salt blast!!!! That's really my only gripe. I think a lot of restaurants just use too much salt. This is one of those. Food can be good without using so much of it. The service was friendly. The restaurant is clean, including a spotless restroom, and very nicely decorated in the dining area. They have no shortage of craft beers and other drinks. Overall, it's worth a try.... read more

Great place to meet family and friends for a drink and dinner with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Large selection of food offerings, and the beverage menu is huge. (Six pages!). We started our dinner with the crab dip (came with pita slices), and crunchy brussel sprouts. (They weren't so crunchy.). I had the Fried Chicken sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes. Been here several times in the past and various times this month. Food is still yummy. Gorgonzola hummus was a delight. Smoked wings tasted so good. Mussels were very tasty. Drinks are still good. Love the variety of cocktails available. Beer is nice and cold and plenty to choose from. Happy hour is great! Unfortunately, happy hour at the bar is a bit lacking in customer service. Not attentive at all. We had to keep flagging down whoever was in the bar area for drinks and food. This was a game changer for us. This last time we were planning to order meals and stay longer but decided to move on after the lackluster service. Wish we didn't feel like we were "bothering" the servers when we needed something. We sat at a high top table and the bartender was our server. He was excellent. We had SUCH high hopes for this place. After talking with friends we had to try it. We came in around 745 on a Thursday and were seated quickly. We ordered drinks and food. The server was very pleasant and delivered things promptly. The wings were not good- very gummy. I'm not sure if they smoke them then fry them or what but they need to rethink those. The tomato soup was great. I got a burger and my husband got a crab cake sandwich. Both were just okay. Wonderful establishment with great service. I had the beet salad with salmon and their peach old fashioned. The salmon was a slightly on the small side compared to other salmon salads I've had but still tasty. Breakneck Tavern is a restaurant and bar that has a casual atmosphere, excellent service, and solidly good food. The menu includes foods such as soups, salads, burgers, tacos, BBQ ribs, crab cakes, filet mignon, scallops, lamb, and creme brûlée and beverages such as beers, cocktails, whiskeys, and wines. Please see my attached photos for the menu in February 2024. My husband and I had a reservation for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived after 11 AM, and many tables were available. A seating hostess kindly greeted us and soon seated us at a spacious and clean table. Our waitress spoke very nicely to us and provided timely and accurate service. Here are my husband's and my reviews for our foods: Crab dip - 4 stars - This crab dip contained not only crab but also corn, red peppers, and spinach. On the side were several pieces of Cajun-flavored pita bread. This dip and pita tasted good, but my husband commented that he would prefer that it not contain corn. Bison burger - 4 stars - The bison patty was cooked medium as I had requested, and it was topped with fresh lettuce, onion, cheese, horseradish mayonnaise, bread, etcetera. I ate most of it. For my side, I chose French fries, and they were properly fried and seasoned. Fried-chicken sandwich - 4 stars - My husband ended up taking the chicken out of the bread buns and eating only the chicken. My husband chose a side of onion strings. He said that this entree was good. If I return to the Mars area again, then I would feel happy to try more of Breakneck Tavern's foods. A wintery Saturday calls for a satisfying meal, and Breakneck never fails. The burger is seasoned to perfection and truffle mayo is a perfect touch. So many levels of flavor. The Brussels sprouts serving size is smaller than before, but the flavor never fails. Perfect char and the lemon aioli makes for the perfect bite. My wife said the salmon with cauliflower rice was fantastic. Very light yet tasty and satisfying. Breakneck was and will always be one of my favorites. Delicious elevated bar food with such a cozy, rustic inside made sipping a Pinot Noir a great time. The place was packed, yet service was still excellent. We went to Breakneck for my mom's 77th birthday. There were 10 of us so I had called ahead to make a reservation. We were seated promptly when we arrived. We ordered drinks that took a normal time to come out for 10 people. We then ordered food. We had ordered off the brunch menu as that was all that was available. The food took an hour. I had to go to the hostess station x3 to inquire about more drinks and the status of our food. Our server had vanished. Never once checked on us. The hostess had to actually go find him three times for us. Once the food arrived all the sunny side up eggs were now hard boiled. All the pancakes were hard. It was a disaster. The food looked like it had sat under the heating lamp for a good amount of time. My grits had a hard top coat on them from the heat lamps. My niece had asked for a side of French fries which she was told was an option and these were missing. The server then gave her pieces of fried something with ketchup. Whatever it was, it was not fries. My sister did state her dissatisfaction with her meal and had the one meal comped. The server never apologized. Brunch was a mess. We will not be returning. It's a shame I cannot give zero stars because this brunch was not worth the one star I was forced to give. read more

First visit was on a gorgeous Thursday evening in May during Happy Hour. Of course, the best appetizer, the charred Brussel sprouts were not one of the HH specials but so worth the full price! Also amazing was the Gluten-free Raspberry chocolate torte with fresh raspberries and whipped cream by Pastry Chef, Mariah Jane (and those who know me, know that is not a compliment I give out freely). There are several sections of seating. We sat in one of the handful of booths on the bar side with mostly high-top tables. There's an enclosed patio and also an outdoor patio. The parking lot was nearly full by the time we left at the end of HH. Most customers were middle aged. Service was good and the place was clean. I'd definitely return for HH and dessert. read more

I wanted to like this place so bad. I've driven by it a hundred times and it always seems busy. My wife and went in for dinner on a Thursday night at 6PM. It was busy, but they had one 2-top table available and sat us right away. The waitress didn't make her first first appearance for 10-15 minutes, at which point we got drinks and ordered our meals. For 2 simple meals (a sandwich and mac and cheese), the food didn't come out till 7:10 which seems like an absurd amount of time to wait. A don't often take the time to leave a review online. Had dinner with family here this evening and everything about this dining experience was sublimely bad. We made an online reservation via open door and the place looks nice inside. However everything I ordered came out completely wrong. My replacement food came out well after my party was finished eating and after addressing my dissatisfaction with the manager on staff, she took off my dinner order off the bill that I never ate anyway. I went there yesterday with some friends. I ordered fried green tomatoes and brisket poutine. The green tomatoes was excellent, however the brisket poutine was terrible. The French fries were burnt not only on my dish but on my friends also. I took 2 bites and could not eat any of it. It was awful. We had an excellent anniversary dinner at Breakneck. Hannah was our server, and she was attentive without being intrusive. My filet mignon was perfectly prepared, and I appreciated being able to swap out the asparagus for Brussels sprouts. Hubby had grouper and gave it rave reviews. I upon my visits to the Gibsonia area, I have tried Breakneck Tavern a couple times now. They seem to get pretty busy at lunch time so I recommend getting there early if you can help it. On both visits, I have ordered some sort of risotto (lobster and wild mushroom) both of which were cooked to perfection. Their burgers, fries and tacos look pretty dang good also. The menu has plenty to choose from paired with a full bar program. You'll find local brews and fun cocktails on the list. The food menu has classic American dishes with modern twists. I was able to make reservations - WIN! I have driven past the establishment x 5 years on my way to Serene Spa (Brickyard Road). The parking lot was always full. A member of my group recommended the restaurant. Made reservations on Open Table. Once I made the reservation, every time I mentioned plans to go there, people just started commenting on their favorite foods. Seafood was frequently mentioned. We started with ice tea and apple cider mimosas. Appetizers ordered chicken tacos, beef tacos, potato sausage beer cheese soup, & ham cabbage bean soup. Entrees were 2 orders of crabcakes with jasmine rice and an order of brushetta. We all left with doggie bags. Since we were celebrating a birthday, the restaurant brought a chocolate raspberry torte with HOMEMADE whipped cream for the birthday girl. The carrot cake had a delicious creamy layer of cream cheese icing. The chocolate silk piece was like a rich mousse with THAT whipped cream. This was the first sitdown meal since restaurants have re-opened which every portion of the meal order was served correctly - meal hot, correct sides, drinks refreshed without prompting, etc. It was truly a pleasurable experience. I would typically give a 4/5 for this type of restaurant but our waitess was great, didn't rush us through the meal, and the caliber of food pushed it to a 5/5. Wow... This was so good! The kitchen was firing on all cylinders for our meal here. It so exceeded our expectations! Service was great too and the selection of drafts was terrific too.
