We went back to try their seafood soup as I've been thinking about it ever since we tried it. The soup was delicious! It is served on a very large container that made it large enough for the 2 of us. We actually ended up splitting it and having leftover broth. I saw others bringing home leftover broth as well. I'll be adding some more seafood to my leftover broth for another meal. My partner ordered the trio and enjoyed it as well. The owner is a fantastic hostess. She is so sweet and accommodating to all her customers. At the end of our meal around 9 pm and after we were getting ready to leave, the owner approach us and asked us to stay around. She told us that they were having live music playing and that we might enjoy it. Unfortunately we had to leave but we might come back another time as they are open late a couple of night a week for live music and karaoke. This place is becoming one of my favorite local spots. I love this restaurant. Their food is consistently good. I've been here a couple of times over the years and I'm always happy to come back. Service is usually very attentive and friendly (excepting this last time I was there, our waitress messed up our order but she was able to fix it without too much wait. She seemed uninterested in serving us even though the restaurant was empty). Some nights they have live music and it kinda looks like a club. Came here for the 2nd time on a cold winter day. Parking was much easier to find than the first time, a hot summer day, and the weather is important to note. The restaurant is nicely decorated and laid out nicely with a small bar as you enter. However the place definitely retains the heat in the summer, I.e. it's hot, and the cold in the winter. People were wearing jackets and hats. The owner did recognize this and put out some space heaters to help with heating the space. Now for the important part, the food is worth it! I started with the Ceviche Mixto, one of the best I've had anywhere! Great spice and mix of fish and shrimp! HUGE portion so it's definitely a shareable appetizer. My main meal with Chaufa de Mariscos. This is mountain of rice if and seafood; shrimp, mussels, calamari. Another delicious well seasoned dish with more than enough to share and take some home! Another table had ordered the Caldera de Mariscos which was enormous and looked delicious. We were given a sample of the broth, OMG! On the list for my next visit! Stopped in for lunch using a special offer from Nift. A gentleman seated us and welcomed us with menus. Appears to be only one menu for both lunch and dinner. When he returned to offer drinks, we opted for ice water we asked him for recommendations as neither my friend nor I are well versed in Peruvian cuisine. He asked if we had a particular food in mind and my friend said beef and for me, seafood. He recommended the lomo Saltado for her and the arroz con camaron for me. As we waited for our meals, he brought over a complimentary appetizer of toasted corn with some mild cheese crumbles. The corn was a bit dry and I think an acquired taste. It didn't take long for the entrees to arrive. My friend received hers about 5 minutes before mine arrived so I picked at hers awaiting mine. The beef was a little over cooked and not of high quality beef, sauce was predominantly a soy taste, the large slightly cooked fresh tomato slices were refreshing and the red onions a nice contrast. My friend enjoyed the consistency of the rice but we weren't fond of having the fries covered in the sauce which made them mushy. Would have preferred the fries on hen side. I was happy with my arroz. There was a good amount of calamari, shrimp and mussels all cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the mushy rice and red sauce. The side slaw/salsa was very vinegary and I felt it didn't compliment the taste of the seafood and rice. The waters were Kirkland brand water bottles brought to the table along with a glass of ice at $2 each. Tap would have been fine. Friendly and welcoming service so a 4 for that. Pricey for lunch so a 3 and a 3.5 for the food. Nicely decorated and clean. We would consider returning to try other selections maybe for dinner. read more

My boyfriend and I wandered into this restaurant after we had just helped a friend move into an apartment in Lawrence. We were starving and this was one of the few places open at 10pm. At first when we came in, we were told that the kitchen was about to close, so we turned to leave. However, the staff was really kind and told us that they'd be able to make a few items on the menu for us, so we stayed, and we were so happy we did. The ceviche we had was tender and juicy. It almost melted in my mouth - it was THAT good! We also had a beef dish and the meat was really tender and tasty. I will definitely come back to this place to try more things on their menu. We were so happy to stumble upon this new gem while visiting Lawrence. The restaurant has a very clean and modern design. The service staff was so friendly and sweet. Although the menus are only in Spanish, she was so enthusiastic about helping us make a selection that fit our cravings. My cousin's dish (steak sautéed with onions) was delicious! The steak was well seasoned. I had the bistec (skirt steak) with fried egg on top which lacked in salt, but I still enjoyed it and left satisfied. I would return to try the other items on the menu...but I'm hoping they can create a lunch menu that is easier on the pockets. Spending $50 for 2 at lunch just felt a little steep. Great way to remember Peru after living there for three months! The manager came right over and explained the menu to us as it was all in Spanish and was overall very friendly. I ordered a bunch of different appetizers for my friends to try. Leche de Tigre and Causa de Pollo. The Leche de Tigre was to die for and my friends loved it as was the causa. I ordered Aji de Gallina as an entree. It was good but I've had better Aji de Gallina. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have Chicha Morada in stock as I had been raving about that to my friends, but I'll have to come back another time to enjoy some of that. My first time coming to this restaurant. Every single plate was delicious. We tried a variety of dishes. We got a seafood, lamb, beef Asian style noodle and a traditional staple which consist of cavasa French fries and chicken where tons of ketchup. The kids love the staple dish! The lamb was out of this world. I enjoyed the lamb with the rice and pickled minutes. My husband's dish which was a seafood dish had a mixture of Scallops, oysters, Filette a fish And shrimp. It was in a red sauce and a king with rice, very good! Staff and owner were very friendly. The restaurant is very clean. Only downside is parking. Also menu should have more detail pictures to allow you to get more familiar with the culture. I would add specials every week Just to let people try different dishes.
