I had a memorable night with my sister and mom at Monica's cafe. I always appreciate going to a place that has their own unique take on cuisines. Monica does exactly that! Every dish was executed with flair and flavor. We tried the Yogurt Bombs, Palak Crunch Chaat, Masalatini for the appetizers. Masalatini is a must try, and we loved how crunchy the Yogurt Bombs and Palak Crunch were with every bite. Then we had the Saag Saga with Paneer and the Melt-In-Mouth Lababdar with Kofta. Both dishes were delicious. Soft homemade paneer and again crunchy kofta with velvety gravies. Lastly, can't forget about the Mithai. You usually can't compete with Mithai in India. Monica's takes it a step further, maybe India can't compete with her? She has a wonderful family, and we had such a great time talking with them. Looking forward to coming back! read more

Have gotten food delivered twice and was very happy. First of all, the packaging makes you feel very bougie indeed, with beautiful, colorful boxes and containers. The Naanza is absolutely delicious, every flavor is bursting through and the textures are perfection, would highly recommend. The chopped kachumber salad was very fresh. As the designated food expert in many social settings, I was thrilled to be asked again by my friend and colleague to pick our restaurant for dinner, as we were both in town early for a meeting the next day. Working with gluten and tomato sensitivity, I dropped my Yelp bookmarks for the Andover/Boston area into Chat GPT and was told that Monica's Mithai would be the one we would rave about later on. Touché Chat GPT! Situated in a small side street in the picturesque and idyllic Andover downtown, this restaurant evokes a fun night out with its hot pink decor and spots to take a selfie. You're warmly greeted by Monica's family who makes you feel right at home and is willing to make you anything your heart desires, including an off-menu, gluten friendly version of Butter Chicken Poutine (and yes it was a winner)! Of note, I am accustomed to restaurants who are good with food allergens, but this one knocks it out of the park! No nuts in any of the sauces, plenty of vegan options and extreme care for any other dietary preference. Might I also add that the ghee is homemade?! Every detail is well thought out, including this one of a kind menu - it takes you out of the comfort zone of typical representations of Indian cuisine and stretches you to creative and flavorful spins on classics, like the Samosa Chaat, whose sauce was light, slightly sweet and full of flavor (but doesn't weigh you down to the point you can't fully enjoy your next dish). The paneer makhani was to die for - prior to this, my kids and I have just one restaurant that qualifies for the "long drive just for the food" trip and now this restaurant joins that very short list. The paneer was equally light and mildly cheesy, complementing the slightly sweet, very savory tomato based (I think) sauce. I think Monica's could easily turn this into a sort of dipping sauce or soup for an Jndian grilled cheese (adding mirchi/chili and tomato to the sandwich). Monica herself stopped by our table and I felt like we had met a celebrity who didn't mind taking time to talk to a complete fangirl. Great news is that both the Velvet Makhani sauce and ghee are shipped anywhere in the US so I could bring this delicious food back to my NJ peeps, to their delight and mine. The drink menu is also creative and extensive. As a beer girl, I thought nothing move me away from the deliciousness of the Local Widow Maker Blue Comet IPA - but the recommendation for the Rupee Basmati Rice Lager changed my heart and mind on rice lagers forever. I capped off the night with mango lassi (less cream, more fresh mango purée- yes!!!!) and would give this a 10/5 if I could. Keep up the great work Monica and family! read more

One of the most unique restaurants I've visited. The presentation of the food and drinks was as pretty as the colorful interior. For drinks I ordered the lychee martini and chai-tini buzz. The lychee martini was a little too sweet and the chai martini was too milky for my liking. There are a lot of interesting cocktails on the menu so I'd like to try something different next time. For food I ordered the Samosa Bliss and the iron pan (kadhai) hit with paneer and a side of garlic naan. The samosas were delicious: crispy on the outside and well-seasoned on the inside with a tangy sauce. The paneer was excellent in terms of portion size and texture. I would have preferred basmati rice with the entree instead of the yellow rice and more garlic on the naan, but overall it was a satisfying meal. There isn't a dessert menu but they have a case with a variety of Indian sweets. Service was very attentive and felt like you were eating at a family's home. Lots of nearby street parking. As with many older New England buildings, the entrance is a little tight and has a few steps so it may be difficult for some people to enter. I look forward to visiting again! read more

This is a hidden gem, just off of Main Street. The food is incredible- homemade samosas, delicious curries, and generous portions. Monica came out of the kitchen to talk to us. We tried Monica's Mithai for brunch on the weekend and had a nice time. Tried a bunch of different dishes: Gujarati puri Vada pav Butter chicken paratha Egg bhurji Saffron chai Irani chai Mango mimosa The Gujarati puri and egg bhurji were the biggest hits followed by both versions of the chai and the vada pav too. Wish they had a more authentic version of the bread for the pav but can't fault that, it's not easy to make ladi pav. We had high hopes for the butter chicken paratha but it felt like the flavor was lacking, it could've easily used more stuffing. The mango syrup in the mimosa didn't mix very well and felt a little artificial so they may want to refine that recipe. But overall, a great visit and what a treat to have Indian brunch. Service was great, friendly and attentive. Ambiance is very bright and inviting. There are a few parking spots right outside the cafe or you can also park on the side streets. read more

I have had the pleasure of being at this resturant twice now, once for lunch and tonight for dinner. It's a lovely spot, well decorated, great service and unique food. This place is so cute, I love the aesthetic of the cafe. It's an intimate cafe, with a good amount of seating. I tried a couple of their desserts, but my favorite is the sugar free milk bar. I really appreciate the owner explaining everything in the display cabinet so I could choose which dessert I wanted to try. My wife and I ate at Monicas last night and were very disappointed in the meal. The veal was dry and tough to eat placed on a pile of dry yello rice with a slice of raw onion and a few small tomatoes on the side. A few small pieces of pita bread. My wife had the vegetarian that had pieces of fried cheese on the rice instead of veal. Both had little flavor; might have benefited from sauces of some sort. The atmosphere was confusing as very little that seemed Indian including the decor, music, staff, and food. The waiter was fine; however, commented that he was frustrated as was training new cooks that night which may have explained part of the problem. In any case, there are plenty of excellent Indian restaurants that are much better to go to. read more

I went to this spot with a friend and it was great! Very friendly servers and they explained all the dishes. I got the tandoori chicken sizzle and came back the next night and got the shawarma platter. Food was great and they gave me free refills with extra cherries for my shirley temple. The menu has a lot of options with fusions of different cuisines. They have a bar where you can see them make your drinks. The presentation on the dishes was nice as they bring it up and take this smoky glass dome off. I don't have a video so you have to go there and see. The place is modern, well decorated with comfortable chairs and a cozy ambiance. The desserts are pretty good as well. Overall I definitely recommend this place and if you are going on the weekends definitely get a reservation because it got pretty full Friday night! read more
