Thank you to SBC for handling our issue of the work they performed several years ago on our stone veneer on the house. The initial installation failed due to improper preparation. They did return and completely removed the veneer, ground down the mortar on the walls, reparged the scratch coat and installed new Eldarado stone. The two mason did good job (Marco and Octavio) keeping the area clean and dusted. It's a messy job but they did keep it clean as could. Keith was in touch. BEWARE THIS CONTRACTOR! SBC failed to follow COUNTY BUILDING CODES, failed to obtain the proper building permits, failed to get an engineer's stamp, and used the incorrect building materials. THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU! Complaint filed with the BBB and Maryland Home Improvement Commission and is presently being litigated. From the onset, there were problems with SBC and it's staff: problems with not following design (it is supposed to be a semi-circle - see photos) stairs that had to be rebuilt three times, wrong color posts, failed to insert the post sleeve-skirts, cap stones were not glued, plants were not properly spaced, major damage to my driveway, damage to my solar lights, dumping construction waste on my neighbor's property, and a sales rep who wouldn't return my calls. The 4 foot facade of the hard-scape developed a major crack months after being built, and again in 2022 (twice within 3 years). The structure was not built with interlocking block, but instead was only glued together (a violation of the county building code). This major project came with a 60-month warranty. However, SBC will not honor the warranty and will not take responsibility for it's negligence. This hard-scape project cost 30K, and in return, I received sub-par workmanship, poor quality, unprofessional conduct, unethical business practices, and a patio that continues to deteriorate. read more

They came out to take a look, and took care of the problem within 2 weeks. They did other work around the house and still today everything looks great. I highly would recommend them. Finished months after schedule. Cut corners on materials, dimensions, and features that had been contractually agreed to. At the project conclusion tried to charge us for things that had not been previously mentioned. Unprofessional foreman. Tried to speak to the owner and he did not do what he said he would to resolve the issues. Had to point out that things were not done according to code. If I am spending 6 figures on something, I don't want to have to spend countless hours trying to make people do what was agreed upon and paid for. read more

So, thought the issue with the lawn service was resolved. Here we are again, 2 weeks, common areas not cut. Grass is over a foot long, falling over on itself. Difficult to open my gate for my dogs, grass on the outside it too high. The owner pretends to care, he doesn't. When/if they finally come, his crew has to deal with choking mowers. The cut grass then chokes out the live grass below. Do NOT hire these people. read more

I had Brad and his crew install a pretty large paver patio as well as install some seating, benches worth lighting in them, and a firepit... All out of pavers.  I'm a contractor and rehabber so the only reason I didn't do the job myself is because I'm not set up to do a job like this with all the large equipment involved to complete the job. Needles to say,  I was very hands on to make sure everything was done correctly.  Every time I asked a question to one of Brad's guys,  they knew the correct answer and were one step ahead of me on every detail....From correct grading to putting weep holes in the block walls to prevent water build up... They had every detail covered.   Not only did they do a professional job but they did it very timely and for a very reasonable price.  I priced the job out with 3 other contractors and SBC was the best price and I felt the most comfortable with Brad doing the job.  I would definitely recommend Brad and SBC Outdoors and I will be using them for future endevers. read more

SBC has done two substantial stone wall/walkway projects for my home and both have turned out beautifully. I highly recommend them.

We had a lot of work that needed to be done in our back yard - drain lines buried and a 10' x 20' stone patio with a retaining wall and steps. The patio, steps, and retaining wall(s) are completely great - they look sooo good! They did a lot of work within a week which I thought was very reasonable. They seeded the yard and cleaned up and came back without a hassle to correct a couple of things. I would use them again but would insist on having someone on site that I can communicate with - it was very difficult to get an idea across to the crew (who were very nice but had no idea what I was trying to tell them, LOL). Their work reduced the dirt in my house by about 90% (seriously, I have 3 dogs) and it is so, so pretty! They do really good work. read more

We live in an end unit town home and have had drainage problems in the sloping back yard since we moved in eight years ago. SBC was able to offer us a solution that sounded reasonable: two french drain pits and taller border edging along pathways. The drains were completed within a day, and the best part is that they work to resolve the problem! We no longer have a back yard that is filled with mud. They showed up in a mask, acted totally professional, offered suggestions, came back and took measurements...then crickets. They totally ghosted us. My wife said it sounded like they couldn't do what we wanted within our budget. But we never even got a bid from them. I emailed 3 weeks after the site visit and they responded saying our bid was being prepared, but I never heard back. It's now been two months. I got two other bids from other companies within that time offering exactly what I wanted well within my budget. I admit my house has geographic limitations but if they blew us off because they just didn't feel like dealing with it they could have said something. If they blew us off because they didn't want to work with our budget they could have told us. I would understand. I would be annoyed, but I would get it and hire somebody that could do what I wanted. I emailed again two months after the fact to ask why we never heard back. Again...crickets. Maybe they forgot about us, maybe the assessor doesn't work there anymore, maybe they were insulted by our lower then they would like budget...but ghosting a potential client is not polite. read more

I have been going back and forth for almost three months now trying to find a time for one of this companies landscapers to come and view my backyard for a design quote for Montgomery County's Rainscapes Rebate Program. We had set up a time when he was supposed to see it with one of the Rainscapes planners. Not only did I never hear back from the landscaper about a design proposal, but I found out that he gave incorrect information about what I wanted done in my backyard to the Rainscapes planner, which has now further delayed my landscaping project. While I would like to be able to review the landscaping services of this company, we will never be able to see them because no one will contact us back with a design proposal even after multiple attempts to reach out. read more
