One word- WOW! I love the new owners and their progressive and fresh approach to this local staple in Cape San Blas. Scallop Republic is a popular haunt for so many reasons. I feel comfortable and welcome here, whether I'm coming off of the beach or I'm dressed up and enjoying a night out. I originally visited the Scallop Republic during the Singer Songwriter festival, Blast On The Bay. The first time I visited the venue I knew that it was a place where I could have fun and be relaxed, while enjoying the local atmosphere and vibe. I am excited about the wonderful transition that has happened. This intimate music venue has fantastic bands. In addition, they have many large screens that you can watch your favourite team play. Last night was the Lilies For The Fillies, Pink party. Although I didn't eat, there was an amazing spread of food. I cannot wait to see what transpires from this point on. In addition to being an intimate music venue, it also has so many other additional spaces. The inside is intimate, but this venue also has large outside areas with fabulous views, as well as the covered underneath section, which offers a reprieve from the sun. They also have lots of popular outdoor games. Tonight was an incredible event, and also a fundraiser for breast cancer. Big shout out for tonight's musicians, Bo Spring Band, amazing! It's been a really long time since I've been treated so rudely for asking to sample a beer before buying one. My wife asked to sample two of the 13 taps of beers they had and he told her "this is going to be the last sample, this is getting weird " We came early to enjoy the music and have a couple of beers but one was more than enough. The music was good. We are from Atlanta and enjoy coming here every year. I think I'm done! I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

If you enjoy visiting small, out of the way, village feel type places, put Scallop Cove, Port St Joe on your list. We sailed into the bay behind the shop, anchored up and called to work out which dock we might tie our dinghies to. Robert not only gave permission, and described the dock, he walked all the way out to meet us there to make sure we were okay. It's out of the way, it's often crowded, and it's very Florida! They have a great house band, large selection of bottles and drafts and a friendly staff. If you arrive early, there's a dart board and plenty of memorabilia to check out on the walls. I always enjoy visiting when I'm in the area. read more

I have been doing the four hour drive up to the Cape since before I can remember (i.e. there are photo's of me as a naked baby in a towel running around in the sand...) and since we have been coming here, we have never had a place like this to visit. Now that we are here once or twice a month, we are really glad this spot popped up! A beautiful space, filled with Floridian artwork: from the decorations, to the artwork , to the musicians, to the beers, it's Florida-heavy. Which is great! The BEAUTIFUL blown up scallop photo on the wall, highlighting the pretty electric blue eyes that they sport, smiles down near the "pay-it-forward board" where you can buy a future beer for someone (or collect a beer someone has bought for you). We love sitting by ourselves drinking the craft Floridian beers, either taking in the sunset on the deck from across the bay, competing over darts, or just listening to whatever rustic local artist has come in on the evening...but meeting the owners and beertenders are the cherry on top of each visit. I believe the beers offered here on tap are Florida beers only. I also believe the owners (very kind people) should have a few beers from far off to give the locals and tourists a taste of other places; the beer selection is good, though, as it is. The Dragon's Milk from New Holland Brewery in Holland, Michigan would be an awesome addition. Elk Brewery in Grand Rapids, Michigan has a killer Peanut Butter and Jelly ale called "PB n "J"aley that your customers would drink up in a second. Or Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale from Lexington, Kentucky. I saw Boo Radley and his lady play. I think every fourth Friday they are here. Boo does his own thing and I enjoyed his playing; throw some dollars into the pale. I had the Creatures of the Dark Milk Stout; it is more nutty than creamy, and tasty. I had the ?blind grass? IPA also...like most IPAs - hoppy. This is a nice bar, clean and nice atmosphere. I read another yelp review and I concur: just go! The owners are nice. read more

It is impossible to stress how friendly this place was! My friends and I were all "out-of-towners" yet the staff...and the other patrons....made us feel at home. And the beer selection was INCREDIBLE! We had never been to this area...and didn't know what to expect. If you are visiting, get ready for the regulars and staff to smile and welcome you. This place is a must if you are on or even around the Cape. I came here 3 times in the span of a week. It has a great setup for a bar with great views of the bay in the afternoon as the sun sets. There is a solid selection of local beer and they have live music every day. The outdoor area is dog friendly but you can't take pets inside. The staff was super friendly and helpful when asking for recommendations. I will definitely be back. read more

Scallop Republic could not have been more conveniently located as it sat directly across the street from our vacation rental in Cape San Blas. The Bar is perfectly suited for the area with its view of the bay and cottage feel. The upstairs is cozy while the bar boasts a beer selection that is filled with local favorites in a wide variety of styles. They also fill personal growlers, which are perfect for taking and sharing back at the beach. The building itself is lifted like most others around it, which gives an open space below, that they appropriately use for live music. The back patio is also not wasted with games and spots for enjoying the view to keep you entertained while enjoying a beverage. Scallop Republic is an excellent local gem any beer nerd or beer novice would be happy visiting frequently. read more

We have been visiting the cape annually, and while catching up with our friends at the trading post they told us about one of the newest gems on the cape . We went on a Sunday afternoon and had the pleasure of not only trying some fantastic beers , but also conversing with the owners while the entertainment was getting set up. Not only was the music (and did I mention the beer ) fantastic ; it was great to see the owners enjoying the music as well! The musical entertainment was Cypress Trio which I would highly recommend coming out to see ( you will not believe this artists are kids) . The band has a great family support system and it was wonderful to be a part of the experience at Scallop Rebuplic and their support of the local talent . We will be back as soon as we can !!! read more
